Yeah, I dropped Davis to avoid being over cap in the off season until arbitration

It wouldbe unfortunate if owners are stretchingthe rules again. I think everyone should berequired to grt o the normal roster constraints before Tuesday and then deviations would only be allowable due to trades.
-
I've heard of ppl going way over their roster limits in other leagues. I hope we don't have that here.

with all of the auctions, my expectation is that no one will keep more than a player or two over the 40-man limit, plus 60-day DL guys.

Haha, yep--I didn't manage the end-game especially well. I used to co-own teams w a friend and that was always his speciality.

Wow! Had you not hit your innings limit, Paxton would have put you over the top on 20,000, although you're only 25 pts short right now so there's still a chance.
-
The Otto Site Admin in that same thread that I quoted, later reported that he had an automatic fix. So there's nothing Ottoneu players have to do in regards to abiding by the game limits. Assuming you start 5 OF's and 3 will put you at 162, the site will simply take the first 3 based on game starting times.
-
I feel that pushing past the caps is something that I'm okay with for the day that we hit those limits. Not all of us can check down to the minute that games start if we have five OF in our lineups but only have three starts to use up. I might not be able to see which guys of mine don't actually start in time, if that makes sense.

Once I hit 162 my catchers started raking. explain that

Tanaka's last game he put up a negative 7 points in 5.2 IP so, karma, I guess.

Otto site admin: "If you have multiple players starting at C and/or OF at the same time and all of them lock before their games actually start, you’ll be able to push past game caps, 163 for catchers and 814 for OF. This is a bug and I am working to resolve it. As a team owner, actively trying to circumvent caps, while technically allowed by the site, is definitely against the spirit of the game. So, an appeal for honesty while I try to sort this out."
-
Yes. Can go over the cap on the day you reach the cap, from my understanding.
-
you guys know it's a soft cap for IP, right?

yeah, i was aiming for 20k, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen with only 12 IP left.

Remaining questions for 2017: Battle for 2nd place. Will P&E reach 20,000 this year (it will be close).

Just remember, I posted Woodruff and you outbid me. Wound meet salt.

i was on the fence about starting woodruff...i picked the wrong side of the fence.

If I had the sense to play the actual "Panik" it might be even closer. I clearly know how to bench the wrong guys
-
News is that Harper could be back for the final week. I could use him in my lineup as Panik is closing the distance btwn us in the standings at a rapid pace. I had 700 pts on him just a week ago.

Paul DeJong for $2 would be my best pickup

Best get was Eddie Rosario for $2
-
As much as I like Mitch Haniger, Alex Wood for $2 was my best pull. I've made the "this is the year he puts it together" bet every year of his career, so it was nice he finally had a solid four month stretch. Though he's looking tired lately.
-
In response to DE, my best (luckiest) transaction was getting Betts for a buck in 2014. I had been following his exploits in the minors and even set up twitter account devoted almost entirely to composing paeans to Mookie.

so i guess P&E is a jose martinez believer...
-
picking up Tommy Pham for US$4 was a good buy considering that he is 15th among position players in WAR.
-
With the season winding down, I'd be curious to hear what player(s) any of you consider to be your best acquisition. Mine would be drafting Elvis Andrus for $9, who has had a career year. Honorable mentions would be trading for Odubel Herrera and picking up Blake Parker for $1.
-
Figured he's a decent floor-ceiling guy and had the money. Cap room pretty meaningless at the this point.

After the Jimmy Nelson bidding, I should have known to bid higher on Jose Martinez, at least to jack up the winning salary higher to like $12 or $15. Well, not all 6'7" hitters can succeed, right?
-
David Price to the bullpen. Nice, I finally get some use out of the guy. Oops, he doesn't have RP eligibility.

Adding Chad Green definitely wasn't one of those idiotic moves you're talking about.

Tough break on Jimmy Nelson, rotator cuff and labrum tear. That's the grand lottery on shoulder injuries. Hopefully he can make it back at some point next year. Will really hurt the Brewers chances going fwd.

FWIW my position in the standings didn't change when I started asd/dropping, but I agree it is valuable. It certainly allowed me to restock on prospects.
-
I have another conclusion with regards to your observation that the top-3 teams (and myself, top-3 last year) are doing it. Apparently it is a winning strategy. Instead of prohibition, we need to incentivize it for the rest of the teams. My intuition is that the other teams are not aggressive enough in cutting players, that is, they keep non-performing assets around for no reason. If you never cut, re-auctioning also doesn't serve you...
-
Oops, I contradicted myself on those two statements. Strike "automatic" in both comments.
