Did we settle on a time for the draft with Wildman's preference for later on the 8th?
-
And don’t be afraid to start bids at a reasonable salary, and raise bids by $5 or more for the top players. You aren’t getting Kershaw for $3.

Let’s hope not. If people come prepared, we should get through it. Please have a half dozen guys or so in your queue at all times, and be ready to nominate immediately when it’s your turn.

Oh man is there some money out there. Maybe the Auction should be a 2-day event.

Final reminder—make your cuts today.

One man's trash is another man's gold.
-
Ah, that time of year when you watch everyone cut the players who you didn't try to trade for because you figured they were unobtainable...
-
Just updated my trade block... highlights include Greinke, Goldy, and some strong RP options. Anyone listed will be priced to move! Interested in speculative starting pitching, overpriced aces, and lottery pick prospects.
-
I can package some players together for a higher-priced guy. Lots of prospects available.

I've got baseball that day, but later in the evening/night would be fine with me.

thanks for the replies. if Sunday, March 8 at 5 pm eastern DOESN'T work for you, please post a response to the league no later than keeper deadline, this Friday, Jan 31. and if the time doesn't work for you, please indicate what times on March 7 & 8 would work as an alternative. i'm sure you all know this, but the draft will likely last between 2 to 3 hours.

I said I could be flexible any time but I thought last yr's Super bowl (early Feb) draft was a one off. I'm out of town and unavailable SB weekend. Like HKB, I prefer March.
-
I do prefer waiting until at least early March, but that's fine.
-
That’s fine w me. How abt everyone else?

Maybe we should just have it on Super Bowl Sunday every year. At least people will be able to plan around it.
-
We’ll figure out the time once we have a few dates.

Please use this form to indicate your availability for the draft. Please be aware that it’s a challenge to schedule this unless every owner is willing to be as flexible as possible. Thanks.

News: Cubs sign Hultzen to minor lg deal. As a still quasi-Mariners fan I like to play Jeopardy with ex-players. Answer: Danny Hultzen. Who is the guy the M's chose over Trevor Bauer, Anthony Rendon and Franciso Lindor? Maybe as bad as picking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan.
-
I can make almost any date work.
-
Two drafts March 28 and March 29 Thanks Chuck

That should work for me.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this. I set Sunday March 22 at 3 pm et as a placeholder. Does that work for everyone? If not, I’ll circulate a doodle.

So when we are doing the auction?
-
The power of suggestion was strong on that last board conversation. Talk about multiple Twins pitchers leading to a trade of a Twins pitcher.
-
Blyleven was a beast in R.B.I. Baseball on the NES so was therefore never underrated by any metric that matters
-
In the first baseball game I ever attended, at 10 years old, Blyleven started and threw his third one-hitter with the Twins. Appropriately for his early career, he was down 1-0 after the top of the ninth, but the Twins rallied and won. He'd already been my favorite player at that point, but that sealed it. Needless to say, I could go on. But I've retained that soft spot; it's maybe the only one I've ever had.

thought frank viola was overrated.

Oh shite, today's Posnanski top 100 is Blyleven. I'll read it tonight while I'm waiting for the snow.
-
Still a couple weeks to go, but I just wanted to remind everyone to make their cuts by Jan 31. After that date, you'll be assessed the cap penalty for any subsequent cuts.

By bWAR, Mussina almost cracks top-50 players after 1900, and he (seemingly clean) pitched in the steroid era. I get it.
-
I still have trouble reading Pos post Joe Paterno, but I have looked at a couple of those. The one on Sadaharu Oh is fascinating.
-
If you have The Athletic, a wonderful series by Joe Posnanski on his 100 greatest players in history -- a new player everyday leading up to the season opener. Some interesting choices (Mike Mussina) and some players I've never heard of (Bullet Rogan). Haven't read them all yet, but it's entertaining.
-
Well, that was certainly a surprise! Josh Donaldson is a Twinkie -- didn't expect that to happen, honestly. They still need to trade for a starter at some point, but I'm liking where it's at right now.
-
And yeah, the rumors are just rumors. This one probably isn't going anywhere as St Louis has never had an Arenado-like contract on their books.
-
Of course, maybe Jack Flaherty is also in the trade so it might be a Lord giveth and taketh away situation.
-
Damn, the hits just keep rolling for our resident champion. Astudillo Nights scooped Edman at the end of the season who will probably have a full time role in the Rockies infield should the Arenado trade happen. His name hasn't surfaced in the rumors yet but I'll bet anyone $1 that he'd be heading to Colorado.
