A little melancholy about that deal. Nick Anderson's time as an irredeemable drunk at St. Cloud State takes me back to the time when I... was an irredeemable drunk at St. Cloud State: https://www.tampabay.com/sports/rays/2019/08/02/the-mistake-that-shaped-rays-reliever-nick-andersons-life/

Will move $3 Gonsolin or $3 Bundy for a 2B or SS that is at or near your cut line.
-
Willing to move prospects (minus Kirilloff and Pearson) for some higher end pitching.

Anyone interested in Pache? He’s number 19 on the RotoGraphs stash list. Will take anything of keepable value in return.

The difference btwn the Surplus sheet and Auction calculator is the former uses inflation (accounts for the players kept) but inflation effects are not big and sort of balance out anyway.
-
If you know how to use the auction calculator on Fangraphs you get pretty much the same player valuation results as Vibber's Surplus sheet, and the calculator makes it easy by having a radio button that automatically changes all of the fantasy variables to Ottoneu FG Pts leagues. From the calculator, I knew Pederson and Lamet were going to be extremely overvalued 4 weeks ago.
-
it takes a little getting used to--franimal & I have been using it for years. Justin Vibber is a good dude for putting it together for the community for free every year.

Yeah I'm too dense to actually figure out how to work with it, but its evaluation of player and roster values seems pretty solid.
-
thanks for posting though -- it's got some useful tools.
-
i also want to trade Rich Hill to anyone who thinks he is worth $12.
-
it's an interesting tool. it calculates kept value, uses that number to calculate inflation, but as far as I can tell never seems to "solve for x" and recalculate using that inflation value.
-
just pasted a shareable link. the other one may not have been accessible.

Surplus calc not a substitute for your own judgment, but I find it helps me with keep/cut decisions on the margins and as a gut check on trades.

And I *clearly* love me some Franmil, but $20?!?
-
p.s. the surplus calc has Joc Pederson at $23 and Whit Merrifield at $5, which is almost enough to instantly unsubscribe
-
the all-prospect method paid off big there.

spoiler alert: 4 baggers has a great team.

Sorry, haven't been on in a few days. I didn't cut right after arbitration because I asked about this about a week before the end of the season on the message board and was told I could keep the extra spots until cuts. But I will make the cuts now.

You can't end the year with an illegal roster, but if you ended the year with, say, 40 players + 6 on the 60-day IL, that's ending the year with a legal roster.

I mean, taken to the extreme, you could cut a big contract and add 50 prospects on the last day of the season
-
Yes, in the past we have enforced that. I don't care either way but I was assuming that was still the case.
-
I've never seen off season cuts enforced before in the 3 years I've been in the league but I'm happy to make the cuts on my roster.
-
it looks like a few owners have more than 40 players, without anyone on the 60-day DL. i think we've dealt with this in past seasons and said that people needed legal rosters, even in the offseason--is that right? or can these owners keep more than 40 players?

No mention of the WS on this forum but I watched most of the games and enjoyed the Nats' run through the playoffs and WS victory. It might be a one off considering Rendon and Stras are now free agents. Hoo boy is that Juan Soto good.

Doing my arb allocations this weekend
-
please either complete your allocations by Nov. 7, or send me a sitemail promising that you'll do it before the deadline. we need a buffer so that, if necessary, we can line up a replacement owner.

there's still plenty of time, but i just wanted to remind everyone that completing your arbitration allocations is mandatory to stay in this league. it only takes 5 minutes, and is critical to maintaining competitive balance. the deadline is Nov. 14.
