I don't think anyone should go to $0. If a player opts out I can see an owner getting some cap relief, but no one should be a free hold.
-
Ottoneu is treating COVID-19 like the 60-day IL -- so those players don't occupy a roster spot. I think that's sufficient. As for opt-out players, if no one better than David Price passes on this season, I'm not sure anything needs to change. But if Trout or some other star opts out, I suppose a temporary adjustment makes sense. Not sure the number should be zero though. Maybe 20 percent of his Ottoneu salary?
-
think if it is COVID-19 related salaries should go to $ 0 Thanks Chuck

prob should have bid on Tork, but hard to shake my apathy.
-
should we temporarily set players' salaries to $0 who are either unable or choose not to play this year as a result of the pandemic?
-
I'm surprised at how little I've missed sports. I just watch the world burn on Twitter now. Hard to take Ottoneu seriously right now, and easy to imagine lots of ways an actual baseball season in 2020 could be nightmarish. If Trout walks away he'll become my favorite player.
-
This short season of Ottoneu with all these opt outs occurring wily nily is like walking through Yellowstone without any walkways. Trout is pondering sitting this one out. Eek!
-
I agree about the coupon. And I feel the same way about this baseball season, especially from a fantasy standpoint. Might feel a bit different once they're playing games. I still have doubts they can actually pull this off, though.
-
hope everyone and their loved ones are doing ok. i’ll admit that i’m not very excited about baseball under the circumstances.
-
i guess we should just suspend the coupon system for this year?
-
Would be kinda cool if Niv (Ottoneu developer) produced a player for player mapping btwn MLB and KBO, drop all prospects since the player universe is smaller and then re-start Ottoneu 2020. I would enjoy it.
-
Why you gotta be like that ASN? jeez. ;D
-
Is it wrong to be happy that this at least means there's some actual baseball news? https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1242536360147329026

For those looking for even fake baseball, Niv looks to be gearing up to run an OOTP sim league: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/ottoneu-ootp-21-online-leagues-list-of-interest/7284/15.
-
hey everyone—if you have an illegal roster, please cut down.
-
Two week delay to start of MLB season for now. NCAA Tournament canceled as well. NBA and NHL suspended earlier.
-
well, there it is.

Vlad Moon Rising: good one.

poor Willie Calhoun—broken jaw.

anyone interested in James Paxton?

Not doing Tommy John surgery is the new Tommy John. Good luck with that elbow Chris Sale. You too, Tyler Beede and Griffin Canning.

I'm Tyler, this is my fourth year in the league. I'm from Cape Cod and also a Red Sox fan, as well as a Celtics and Patriots fan. This my only league for baseball, but I also do fantasy basketball. Outside of fantasy baseball, I enjoy running and surfing.
-
Josh, 37, Philly. Brought in by Muskies (we used to work together); and am in another league with him and Franimal. This is 1 of 3 leagues, all different formats, and I'm equally terrible at all. I once came in 3rd in one of them. Also a Sox & Bruins fan, along with Villanova basketball. Teams in the majors should adopt the practice of having bat dogs.
-
Rich, 57, been here since day 1. I brought Chuck, 4 Baggers, into the league, so blame me. Been a commissioner of an NL - Only league since 1985. Born in Boston, so Sox fan since birth. Live in Tucson, Az. Attended WS wins in 2004 in St Louis and 2007 in Denver. Recreational poker player who dabbles at the WSOP. Play in 3 baseball leagues, commissioner of one football league and share a team with Chuck in another and am in 2 fantasy hockey leagues.
-
Matt, invited to the league last year by Mark when I still lived in the league's eastern center of gravity (DC). Have since moved to the (mid-)western center of gravity (MN). He can confirm that I've been an Astros fan since before it became cool, and since long before it became decidedly uncool...
-
Richard, 36. I'm a Red Sox fan too but less insufferable about it than Mark. I do one league other than this along with a fantasy basketball league where I have been bounced in the first round of the playoffs for the last five years. Here I have come in third, second, and second. Trying to decide between "Podiums But No Anthems" and "27 Dresses" for my team name this year. Outside of fantasy baseball, I'm really into Frozen and Moana lately.
-
Mark, 34, DC, Red Sox fan (also Bruins & DC United, don't watch football/basketball). As Zach noted, we both work w/ Dave. College w/ Franimal (we met through theater, similar to fantasy baseball as they're both imaginary), worked w/ Philly (we deliberately sat in a LF power alley for Porcello/Vargas & moved to better seats once both teams went to the pen), and know 18.12 from college debate (which is its own anecdote). I play in 3 other fantasy baseball leagues (2 w/ Philly,

Happy to meet everyone! I'm Zach. I work with Dave and Mark, but out of our New York office, and I live in Brooklyn. I played fantasy baseball one time in like 1999, so I have some catching up to do. I believe that the state of baseball was perfect whenever you happen to have been between 8 and 14 years old. For me, that was growing up in Seattle from 1995-2003. When I'm not working or watching the Mariners, I'm reading, running, or watching old seasons of Survivor.

I should add that, while this isn't a money league, we have a tradition of an optional charity bet. The winner picks a charity of their choice and anyone who wants can donate $20.

Zach knows me, but I like the introductions each season. My name is Dave and I live in Maryland in the DC metro area. I’m 48, and also enjoy riding my bike, brewing beer, and playing disc golf. Detroit Tigers fan.

I believe I'm younger than Chuck, who's going to kick everyone's ass this year

Welcome Zach! I'm Corwin, proud owner of Harmon's Killer Brew and a big ol' 58 years old. Big time Twinkies homer! Have known Neil for about 35 years and Russ about 22 years, so our baseball history goes way back. I think this is my fourth year in this league and I'll languish somewhere in the bottom third, so you should have no problem finishing ahead of me. But I'm having fun. Can't believe Russ is 60 -- ya old fart!
-
Neil, age 56 season. Third year in the league. Won it last year; expecting to learn about regression this time around. There are surprising number of Twins fans here, of which I am one. For real know Russ and Corwin (Harmon's Killer Brew).
-
Welcome Zach. A new round of bios is probably in order. My real name is Russ and this will be my 4th yr in the only Ottoneu league I participate in. I currently live and work in Santa Fe NM, but have lived all over the US, but mostly in Seattle. Been doing various configurations of fantasy baseball as represented by my age - turn 60 this year.
-
Very excited to be here!

I think I would have rather taken Wildman's team, and given Zach mine.

Hey everyone—didn’t hear back from Wildman, so my buddy Zach claimed the team. Welcome aboard, Zach!

I posted on the community message board. If we don’t hear back from him, I think I have a replacement owner lined up.

Paxton, ouch! I'm good for 7:30 on 3/8.
-
Any time March 8 is fine with me.
-
It sounds like the preference is for earlier which is okay.
-
Did we confirm that 7:30 was late enough for Wildman? I will make whatever work. 8:00 is better than 7:30 but I can do anytime.
-
works for me Thanks Chuck

Please respond by Friday, 2/7 if the move to 7:30 pm doesn't work for you. If I don't hear from anyone by then, we'll lock in 3/8 at 7:30 pm eastern as our draft day and time.

Was kidding about the two days thing but I assume the auction will take longer than the previous two years. And yes, Danger should let us know how late he needs to start. I don't have a problem with pushing it back to say, 7 p.m. eastern.
