Yeah, I'm pretty sure my opinion was wrong now. Apologies for sewing confusion. Thx Matt & Richard.
-
rules don't directly address doubleheaders but I am nearly sure that WAR of 18.12's understanding is correct. They make it clear that "individual major league games" are what counts.
From a code perspective it would seem *really* strange if a doubleheader counted even if you didn't play. Like, it would have to be intentional and I see no motivation for that.
-
For what it's worth, my understanding is you only get charged for the games they play. Of course, that doesn't save you from eating two games if they start the first and pinch hit in the second.
-
Hmm, I re-read the posted thread, maybe I'm wrong. Dave has played this game the longest and should know.
-
Need the commish to weigh in here. He knows the rule which is how I stated it. This race could be very close and if someone doesn't know the rule and plays a bunch of position players in DH'ers not understanding the rule, it could cost him the title. Plus, 7 inning games make DH'ers even more fraught for position players.
-
Double headers....thats not what the link says...if they play one, it counts as one....they are just locked for both...so you cant start em against one pitcher and sit em against another...but you only get hit with the games they play
-
Reminder, if you activate a position player for a doubleheader, it costs you 2 games at that position whether your player plays one, both or neither game. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/day-night-doubleheaders/1781/4

$1 players cease to be $1 players when you have eight guys injured. the best thing about Kelly when I bid on him was that his auction started 24 hours ago.
-
here’s a riddle. q: how do you pick up a $1 pitcher in this league? a: bid $7 for him.

i remember sitting in the stands for several Bowie Baysox games, explaining to my friend that, while Mike Yastrzemski is a fun AA player, he's the type of org guy who never does anything in the majors.

one supplement to the post—i view this situational as a one-time courtesy i was willing to extend to a relatively new owner. this isn’t precedent of any sort, and any future situations like this are just going to stand, as-is.

Wow. Of all the freaky edge cases.
-
By way of explanation for Frazier, Ottoneu incorrectly credited me the 18.8 points for Foster yesterday despite his being in the wrong pitcher spot. Those points made the difference between my being ahead of Camargo this morning and behind when Frazier signed. With the points removed, I had the tiebreaker to sign Frazier. Camargo undid his corresponding Castro release, and I will be making a corresponding cut momentarily.
-
How about signing someone in the morning, putting them into the lineup, having them pitch 2 IP for 18.8 points that afternoon, and then realizing they were an opener and you had them in the RP slot?

the story abt obama rating one reminds of when John Kerry ordered his cheesesteak with provolone.

I knew it was you.

Got laughed at for posting Grossman 4 seasons ago so let's try it again. To be fair, the chuckle was around playing in a league where Grossman was rosterable.
-
If you think that pitchers like Kyle Gibson and Carlos Carrasco are relievers just because that's how Ottoneu lists them, then I don't know what to tell you. But you'll see that I've clarified my trade block.

Vlad how are you gonna have 14 RP, outbid me on two auctions and still have "Relievers" in your "needs" section? The first step is admitting you have a problem
-
To channel the late, great newspaper columnist Lewis Grizzard: Marcus Stroman has opted out and I'm not so opted in myself. Seriously, I have two St. Louis starters inactive for two weeks and now both my Cleveland starters get busted for bar-hopping in Chicago? Dunno about anyone else but this pandemic is really inconveniencing me.
-
I felt bad for Freddie today...a single short of the cycle in a 7 inning game
-
bad day to forget to start freddie freeman
-
It's like a couple of years ago teams that had a monopoly on power hitting (K/C)hris Davises were in great shape.
-
If you have any OF'ers named JD hit me up. I'm trying to collect all of 'em. Also is it too early to acquire B-A-T Trout as a prospect? I hear his raw power is going to grade out as 70/70.
-
There's also leaving Liam Hendriks on your bench because you've just acquired half a dozen other relievers and surely the A's won't use him for the sixth time in eight days.
-
Just did it again with Jacoby Jones. Woohoo. Missed the lineup chg by 30 seconds.
-
Or, you can pick up a guy for a buck (Leury Garcia) and forget to insert him into an empty spot in your lineup on the 1st day, whereupon he racks up 23 points from the bench.
-
Nothing like splurging on a guy then having him go 0-for-6 in a 17-13 game
-
not interested in CI or Util back.
-
sorry for spam but I probably need to make a deal in the next two days. i have a roster crunch and way too many outfielders. Blackmon and JD available but let me know if any of my outfielders are interesting
-
I refuse to accept that the greatest baseball player on the planet giving his kid the initials "B.A.T." is anything less than a masterstroke
-
I think he's solidly between what Corey Kluber was and is now, yes.
-
And I told u that back end starters are a dime a dozen which makes Plesac worth less than a penny. I'm just bitter I lost out with my $3 bid. He's probably the next Corey Kluber.
-
Already told you I overpaid for Plesac, but lumping him in with Chatwood is just cruel.
-
Btw, bc's comment about middle relievers applies equally to #5 starters too. Hello $7 Plesac and $7 Chatwood.
-
Some things never change, including people who name their babies "Beckham". That's a capitol offense. I should trade Trout for an overpriced relief pitcher just to get him off my roster.
-
kind of reassuring that—even in the midst of a global pandemic—you can still count on early-season middle reliever bidding wars.
-
Cain was never on waivers. As soon as a player's salary is set to 0 it cancels waivers. I mentally noted the lack of waivers on Cain when it happened.
-
It also affects minimum bid, which is why I ask
-
It looked to me like Cain bypassed waivers but Cespedes did not. What's our protocol there?
-
that is, unless he opted out while the auction was still in process. in other words, whoever wins the lorenzo cain auction won't be eligible for cap relief if they end up cutting him. but for cespedes, i'm not sure exactly when he opted out, but that's obviously a different situation.
-
just a clarification—if you pick up a player who has already opted out, you aren’t eligible for the cap relief.

Read the end of this article and ponder the fact that our latest team in sort of quarantine is the defending MLB germophobe champions: https://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/birdland/cardinals-instructed-to-self-isolate-in-hotel-after-possible-positive-tests-postpone-friday-game/article_20cc4c13-7035-50d3-bb05-c53027475c4e.html

I dunno. LaStella just put his hand out for Trout to help him up (after a collision) and Trout yanked his hand back and left him on the ground. There might be hope for us all
-
After reading Passan's season-opener write-up on ESPN, I'm afraid we're all gonna have a lot of open roster spots before too long.
-
PSA: If you wait an hour or two to decide which player to cut, someone else on your team will get the COVID-19 designation
-
just send me a message when you cut a player who has opted out and i’ll make the adjustment
