I'm Josh, I live in Philly and I love the Phanatic, but the Red Sox are my team. Grew up in Virginia, lived in the DC area for a while. My parents and all my extended family are Rhode Islanders, so that's where the Sox fandom comes from. Mark/Muskies brought me into the league a few years ago (he and I are also in 2 other leagues together), and I know Franimal through him/one of those other leagues. They can attest that I am not any better at this in other formats, but I still have fun.
-
The Nats' arrival in DC coincided with my first full baseball season living here, so I quickly became a Nats' fan and have split some sort of season ticket package nearly ever year since 2005. I run another pretty hardcore fantasy league that's been going since 2007, though my success there has clearly not translated to success in this league yet!
-
Hey all, I'm Matt, and have some strange baseball fandom. I was born in New Jersey and initially grew up as a big-time fan of the late 80s Mets (sorry Sox fans!), but I moved to Denver in 1994, just after the Rockies came into existence, and my family split season tickets for a while. Then I went to college and largely stopped paying attention to baseball for a few years until I joined a fantasy league in 2004 and have been obsessed ever since.
-
Very disappointed that Matthew didn’t even bid on Paul Fry just so he could change his team name to Tinker Naylor Soler Fry.
-
I’m Zach. I grew up in Seattle during the Griffey/A-Rod/Edgar/Johnson era, so of course I got hooked on baseball. This is my second year in the league, which has given me a way to enjoy baseball despite being a Mariners fan. (No-hit by the Orioles? SSDD.) I live in Brooklyn for now but am moving to DC this summer.
-
Russ, 60, played little league ball and collected bb cards back in the day. Roberto Clemente & the Pirates were my first fav player & team, resp. Lived in DC before the Nats came to town then lived 20+ yrs in Seattle thru the grunge era not to mention Griffey/Big Unit/ARod/Ichiro/Felix eras. Now currently live in Santa Fe NM. Have played in an AL only fantasy lg with Croney (Neil) and HKB (Corwin) for yrs. Did an Arizona ST trip with Neil a couple of yrs ago. Baseball is great.
-
I’m Mark, based in DC, life-long Red Sox fan—I took over an abandoned team in the league mid-2016. I’ve known Franimal and 18.12 since college (maybe slightly after, 18.12?), used to work with Philly, currently work with Camargo and Vlad Moon, and play in another league with Winker Naylor. I’ll have to make it a priority to grab a beer with the other five of you!! (Rich, I was at Game 3 in ‘07–sorry I missed you by a day (I also got to go to Game 6 in ‘13, but you definitely win.))

Hey all, thanks for all of the intros! I'll write up something more comprehensive about myself soon when I'm not feeling like absolute dogshit (I had my 2nd COVID shot yesterday and it has destroyed me!).
-
Neil, age 57 season. Lifelong Twins fan who reminds Dave it's our '91 championship that was perhaps due to dome-inflating fan usage. Also I attended the epic Games 6-7 and I'm fine with how everything turned out. Real-life friends with Framber and Killer; we participated in a long-running AL-only roto league (RIP, Rasta baseball). Fourth year in this league, managed to take the crown in '19. Only Bregman, Muncy and Soroka have been on my roster continuously since '18. I get impatient.
-
I'm Rich, the "owner" of Acuna Moncada. I am an original member of Bleacher Bums and am a close friend with Chuck from the 4 Baggers. He and I have been in the same NL Only Rotisserie League for more than 20 years. I live in Tucson Az but was born in Boston so I am a die-hard Red Sox fan. I was in attendance in each of the WS Game 4s in St Louis (04) & Colorado (07) and aside from the birth of my daughter and the second set of "I do's", they were the happiest mome

I’m Dave, the commissioner. I live in Maryland just outside of DC. Originally from Michigan and am a big Tigers fan. I feel like the Twins ‘87 series title should have an * due to selective fan usage at the Metrodome, so letting things go isn’t my strong suit. In real life, I’m friends w Vlad and Muskies.
-
Matthew, I'm Corwin, owner of Harmon's Killer Brew, the team sitting right above you in the standings. I'm a perennial lower level finisher hoping to finish in the upper half of the table at some point. I'm a Twinkies homer and have a tendency to give up on guys just as they get good, like that Buxton fellow. Also have a tendency to hang on to crappy guys waaaaay tooooooo looooong. Paying more attention might help as well. One of the best leagues I've played in, great group! Welcome aboard!
-
did we ever do intros this year? might be nice to do it for Matthew (Winker, Naylor), if we didn’t.
-
i completely agree that it could not have possibly worked out better than bringing on the Minnesota crew (and friends).
-
we can always open it back up to being a public league, if necessary. what i didn’t want to happen is a situation where a team become available, we line up a new owner who’s someone’s friend, and the team is out there available to be claimed by anyone.
-
It's a valid point. Framber joining directly led to two other current teams (Killer and me) joining the league. I like to think that turned out OK. **Joaquin Andujar voice** youneverknow.
-
Good idea, although in supporting this I am pulling the ladder up behind me. I was a total rando joining in Nov 2016. I was drawn by the parity where I believe there had been 5 different champs in 5 years. Good league, whether private or public.
-
i just changed the league from public to private. that way, if someone abandons their team or doesn't pay the fee, we won't have to worry about some random person just claiming the available team. the password is: buntsingle
-
it doesn’t look like we can change that. if it turns out we can, it’s need to pass by unanimous vote since we’re mid-season.
-
As we are seeing more and ore roster manipulation, would there be any thought to shortening the auction cycle time from 48 hours to 24 or 36. With COVID IL and 10-day IL, 2 days (often three effective days) feels like a long time to deal with unexpected manipulation. Not even sure if its doable in the system settings. Now back to my whine and cheese.
-
i think this league is the perfect combination of people taking it seriously while not being jerks. you guys are awesome.
-
My count is eight trades and seven waiver claims since April 24 (nine days).
-
I believe there have been more trades made this week than in entire years within this league. Very cool.
-
Make me an offer on anyone - I've got an eye to the future. I'm not overly attached to any player on my roster, and I recognize that I'm in the basement for a reason and there might not be much interest.
-
not done yet—make an offer for lance lynn.
-
This might be the most successful/aggressive fire sale I've ever seen.
-
open to trading trevor story for the right guys.
-
my recollection is similar to Vlad Moon’s, but i’m no waivers expert. it’s a weird tool.
-
There's no link, Vlad. It's just the one page for waivers. Actually the player I was thinking of earlier is Miguel Cabrera. I was a month into my first season and had no idea what I was doing, so I claimed Miggy after he was dropped at $17. Then I remembered it wasn't 2013 anymore and unchecked the box, but I still got him. I ended up dropping him a week later, $9 lighter. That's the only issue I've had with waivers but I've only used it at most three times in the three years since then.
-
This is sort of a longshot but if anyone is interested in a $13 Lamet, as the Padres make noises that he might take the mound on Sunday, I would consider any offer made. Looking for value at any position (no prospects). Need to consummate a deal today as a Prestige league deadline looms for me tomorrow.
-
I’m pretty sure the “Claim For $X” button on the player page is just a link that takes you to the claims page where you then have to check the box. Waivers is definitely one of the (only) clunky things here.

I had that sort of thing happen my first year in the league. I claimed a player, but then unchecked him, but got him anyway.
-
I clicked on the claim button on Fried's player page. Must not have took. No worries.
-
DeGrom might get more run support in real life than he gets from my team.
-
with the degrom trade, i’m now committing to the rebuild. Nelson Cruz has a .440 wOBA (and .463 statcast wOBA!). he’s available along with all the other vets on my team.
-
i missed Franimal’s post and agree with Vlad—that explanation makes the most sense. did you check the waiver claim box?
-
The claims list says camargo was the only team with a claim

i checked the rule and it says the waiver goes to the team lower in the standings—so i guess i must’ve been behind you when it was processed?
-
The system definitely thinks only one person (camargo) put in a claim.
-
So question on claims. I also put a claim on Max Fried, but he went to bitchin' camargo. I thought if more than one team claimed a guy he went to the lowest team. So clearly I did something wrong, which I'd like to avoid in the future. Any thoughts?
-
while i’m not in full on rebuild mode yet, i’d listen to offers on DeGrom, Rendon, Hoskins, or any of my other vets in return for the right prospects or young stars.
-
it’s really more blind luck than anything—as i’ve demonstrated with my many poor moves this season.
-
By the time the next person to roster Colome after me drops him, we should achieve fair market value.
-
deGrom, from earlier conversations. Dave traded for him when he was probably #3 or #4 overall and then last year he busted out to be #1 in all MLB, at least for fgpts.
-
Alex Colome will be a reasonably priced reliever someday
-
Thanks for the clarification! I was just trying to figure out what pitcher was being discussed. Jordan Montgomery? He's fine, but I see essentially zero path to acedom for him. He just will never have to stuff to do it. He's got a good curveball and good command, but I think this is about as far as he ever gets with his arsenal.
-
i’m dave.
-
Who is Dave?
-
I think Dave's super power is trading for top 5 pitchers at a market rate and then watching them rise to be #1. He did the same thing with Scherzer 5 years ago.
