as long as people allocate fairly, its should mimic how a player gets more expensive as he performs well. Example, a guy like Miggy who last year was well below his career levels probably should not get allocated, but a guy like Correa needs to be a dollar higher
-
Other big targets were your Kris Bryants, Correa, Machado, Keuchel, Arrieta, L Cain. The studs get some action to Trout and Harper as owners want these players priced so high they are cut and thrown back into the auction
-
I saw it for the first time this offseason when I jumped into a league just after that process. the dollars were pretty fairly spread out i'd say - young studs and breakouts obviously targeted most. for example Corey Kluber was had at extreme surplus value after two offseasons/allocations now he's still a tad undervalued but in the ball park of where it should be. That's why hitting on one of those players can be a huge boost, and also how the allocation system helps market correction

I'm kindof intrigued by the allocation system also and would think that one player / team wouldn't get so much of a raise. I bet it gets spread out. Plus, all teams will likely be affected, whereas with the vote-off, I think it's just one team. Well, we could try it one way this off-season and then switch and try it the other way, too. And we will indeed have plenty of time to ponder it over the course of the season.
-
I'd be curious to see if anyone in our league has any experience with the this allocation process. It seems kind of interesting to me, and I think the money would be spread out enough as to not pick on one player, unless that player is laughably undervalued. Seems like it adds a ton of strategy, esp. for those cold Winter months.

Review of Allocation has me questioning it, Each team must allocate at least one dollar to every other team, and no team can allocate more than $3 to any other team. At the end of the allocation period, all players have their salary increased by the amount allocated towards them. I would rather have it vote-off, at least you can retain your player. If all teams happen to allocate $3 for the same player your player could increase $33 total dollars, that is crazy
-
You may have seen this already, but if not an interesting modification to the rule about locking managers out during the draft if they don't nominate someone. Looks like we weren't the only ones who ran into problems: http://about90feet.com/2016/03/26/enforcing-nominations/

Hello all. I am a Commish of a competitive H2H league on ESPN. It is a 10 team keeper league, but I am missing two owners currently. It is $50 to join to be paid through Paypal if you are interested. Here's the link: http://games.espn.go.com/flb/leagueoffice?leagueId=28168&seasonId=2016 The two teams to replace are Bleacher Bums and Cholupa Batman. Please e-mail me at BBebernitz@gmail.com if you are interested. Thanks.

I trade is rejected only if a majority of the league votes it down. So that means unless there are seven managers voting to veto, it goes through. In other words, no one has to vote and it will just go through.
-
Well, I wanted to let you all know that Ottoneu keeps processing waiver transactions even if you have 40 players. Seriously, how many coin flips can I win?

That's weird. So far I think Ottoneu is amazing but Commishes should be able to disable the trade approval thing. It brings up another question (sorry): are we compelled to approve the trade, or will the trade go through in 48 hrs. if we ignore?

There are no commissioner tools to change the trades and it looks like it will take 48 hours. I would be in favor of changing both if i could. I don't like votes, and agree that a manager should be allowed to trade how they want. The only reason to veto a trade is if two teams are trying to intentionally cheat.
-
Not sure about the 48 hr thing SF. And I agree with being very hands off on trade approvals -- I would only vote against something if it was clear there was collusion going on. I think there may be some lopsided-looking trades here in order to free up cap space, and that's just part of the deal.
-
Does the trade need 48 hrs. even if the majority of the league has approved?

I think of it like real baseball. Just because a trade is accepted, there is still processing that has to be done with it and that two day wait is clearly stated in the rules. Even though I said both trades were interesting, I approved both of them as well. I only veto if it is incredibly egregious like if it is Trout for like Asdrubal Cabrera, straight up.

I agree with the trade processing thing. I'm not a fan of allowing owners to vote. As long as there is no evidence of shenanigans all trades should be allowed. Some folks get salty when they see a trade they wish they'd made. I hope we all feel that way. For the record, I approved both trades. In a league like this there are many reasons for lopsided trades. Cash, prospects, building for the future, etc.

The two day draft processing period kinda sucks when you make a deal to give you some cap space and then have to wait that period of time to use it!
-
Yea, I knew I could have gotten something for him and I should have shopped him a bit first, but I thought $9 was a bit hefty for a relatively unproven guy who's ceiling is probably around $10, so I didn't think what I would get for him at that price would be substantially better than the options I was looking at on the waiver wire. I really needed some cap space as waivers started up in earnest and I was confident someone would grab him thereby eliminating my cap penalty.

I would have made an offer on Suarez too. Unfortunately. I had to let Murphy go to make room for Suarez under the cap. It's been awhile since I've done an salary based league so I've got some growing pains to experience.
-
I agree with on the waived players. I would have definitely offered something for Suarez. We are all rookies with this, I believe, but patience isn't always a bad thing in fantasy baseball. I know some people need 3B, but I have to be blown away to make a trade now.

i think its more interesting the waived players. Some of whom have definite trade value. I think some managers are going to have to get used to a budget and managing a roster. This is not a standard roto draft league and will take some strategy. Just looking at the rosters will show you we have some rookies, the roster construction is not very good at the close of the draft. My roster is terrible, short on RP, lacking any impact players. Will require a lot of work., Just like many other rosters.

The two trades made so far are interesting ones to say the least...
