You are welcome for all of the discussion and the idea to do it now too... (except for Walking Disaster, it seems, haha)

As crappy as my season has been I did the same thing with Reyes earlier in the year
-
The other good part of this strategy is that it brings down the player's price. If you drop Fielder, he'll then have a pickup price of $4, down from $16 and then $8.

Second Order...didn't give you enough credit. Maybe you were the first owner in our league to employ this strategy.

Its a strategy Ottoneu talks about on its own blog so I think its fine...http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-101-the-capps-space-dilema/

It's completely legal and very astute of Makers to figure it out, but it does seem like a loophole.

Let's use Lucas Duda as an example: Duda's original salary is $8. You cut him and you're assessed a $4 cap penalty, so his min. bid becomes $4. After the 30-day freeze out period ends you nominate Duda as a FA, and get him back for $4. Because Duda's been added to a roster you've now made back the orig. cap penalty of $4, so the new transaction is a wash and you're still out $4 on Duda. When you drop him again (for $4) you only get a $2 cap penalty so you've gained $2 and have a net loss of $2.

Ok, as I have not looked too closely, how is the adding and then cutting helping add $$? I am not complaining, but is this something that we want to embrace? Again, I am not complaining, just seems a little "illegal". But congrats for figuring it out.
-
and the Duda pickup and drop broke my record
-
really!, looks like he gained $2 by doing that
-
free money on the Duda transaction, Makers of the Sexy!! Nice.

i knew there was another Duffy, just wasn't paying attention. Cost me a dollar too. LOL
-
who knew there were two 3B named Matt Duffy?! I wonder if the Giants' Matt Duffy thought he'd been DFA'd.

Must be fastest pick up/drop ever.

I'm down 1000 pts. in the standings and 2 hrs. after I nominate a FA he breaks his hand. That's how my first half is going...I need a break!!

there could be a lot of movement from 3rd to 7th, very tightly balanced
-
I agree about the fight being for second. . . I've enjoyed this league quite a bit. Definitely a different way to think about things and I appreciate how involved everyone has been. It will be interesting to see how things play out as we get closer to the trade deadline,
-
Have to agree that the first half has been all-Big Ben. All those low-priced gems like Jake Lamb, Ian Desmond, and Odubel Herrera, and Stanton and McCutchen haven't even put it into gear yet. But it's a long season...

Actually the fight is for the second place. Schwarbernators is 350 IP over projected limit and will start a slide once that's reached. BigBen is untouchable though, in my opinion.
-
Yeah, we're fighting it out for 3rd, looking up at Big Ben and the Schwarbernators!! Ottoneu is pretty great. What do y'all think?

Whoops -- make that between 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
-
There's hasn't been a message here in quite some time, so let me break the ice by pointing out the 2nd, 3rd & 4th are currently separated by a whopping 2.3 points. Pretty amazing this far into the season to have the numbers align that closely.

will trade a RP for a decent SP

I read somewhere on FanGraphs that if your hitters average 5.30 pts. per game and your pitchers average 5.6 pts. per IP you should win your league.

I am a little surprised how many teams are way ahead of the pace on innings pitched, i watched a team a couple years ago drop from 1st to last in the league over a couple weeks, thought he had it all wrapped up until he ran out of innings
-
i have a yahoo league set up similar, so its not for me. Nice feature on the standings page to show points per game or IP. Very helpful to see where your team is at.
-
I'm curious if others have gone through an adjustment period with the scoring here. The numbers at first seemed so big -- 25 points for a decent hitting day, 60 for a strong start, then we're into the thousands for team totals. It's such a totally different scale than points leagues I've played before that I found myself moving the decimal point, or dividing by three, to translate. But I think I'm starting to get used to it now.

Can someone check on the main page under available teams to see if there is a team called Wynners available in the Captains Table? league members can't see available teams. this team needs an owner also
-
Mike Trout team available in another league, Let me know if you want it, its paid for. I will forward you to the commissioner.
-
It was purely a financial transaction. But I'll pretend that there was some kind of genius plan behind it.
-
The Isotopes must have had some inside knowledge on Matz!
