Good job to everyone for hanging in there on the drafting. Thanks to co-commissioners for the help.

You should be able to start bidding on Free Agents

Just want to let you know that I may be late for the second part of our draft on Sunday at 9 PM EST. If I am not there right at 9 PM, I should be there soon after so don't worry about waiting for me.

the limit is still 162 games for C, 2 spots just makes it easy since its hard to predict when a catcher will rest
-
Nevermind...just found this in the Rules section: "v. The ottoneu lineups page and roster organizer allows for 2 catchers for platooning purposes; ottoneu is not a 2-catcher game."

Was just checking out my roster organizer and noticed 2 spots for C's. Is that right, is this a 2-catcher league?

I lived for most of my life in the Midwest, Michigan and the Chicago area, until a little over 18 months ago when I moved to Israel. I am lifelong Cub fan, still crying over the ball going under Leon Durham's glove on 1984, and Steve Bartman in 2003. I have played fantasy for 15 years or so and really enjoy the competition and fun. This is a new kind of league for me, so I enter with guarded optimism. I will see you at 4am my time for the draft!!!
-
I'm also a West coast guy, a Giants fan looking for another even-year run. As a ottoneu-bie I'm expecting a bit of a learning curve, but really looking forward to what seems like a more engaging brand of FBB. Here's to spending some quality drafting time this weekend (and next) and a good season ahead!

Hey all -- Just a quick reminder that our draft is this Sunday 3/6 @9pm EST. Maybe we can do some quick intros while we wait. I reside in the Pacific NW, am a Cubs fan who is trying not to be overly excited about the season, groove on the Grateful Dead (if that isn't obvious), and participate in two other leagues. My drive-time to work this time of year is spent listening to Sirius / XM's very entertaining fantasy sports channel.
-
While we wait for the draft, Rotographs just put up this 10 Tips for Ottoneu Rookies article. Interesting reading! http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/10-tips-for-ottoneu-rookies/
-
I've reset the draft time and cut the players who were drafted during a few days ago. IMPORTANT NOTE: It says at the top of the league page that the draft is on March 5th -- this is *wrong*, it is March 6th at 9pm EST. It says March 5th because there were no slots left for the 6th, but I checked with the administrators and its fine. As long we put our start date before when we want to start, we can then actually start whenever we want.
-
I'm pretty flexible when it comes to Sundays. I can start earlier if need be.
-
Draft schedule update: it looks like the draft will be on two Sundays, either the 6th, 13th, or 20th, likely at 9pm EST, but I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of managers on flexibility b/c we only have all 12 on the 6th. I may send out another poll to see if everyone is available earlier in the day on Sundays, starting around 2pm EST. We're almost there. . .
-
That is correct: the handful of players that were drafted will be deleted from the rosters and we'll start over.
-
I second that, two nights seems best. An initial draft like this will take at least 5 hours, and even if we started earlier in the day, there's no way I can carve 5 hours out of a single day to complete a whole draft.
On another note, I'm assuming the few players that were auctioned the other night will be removed from rosters and thrown back into the pool?

I vote for two drafts, probably at two different times. One session might take 6-7 hrs.

Both are good points. Let's strive for two nights, or one marathon draft if people are available earlier in the day. We're still waiting on a couple of people to fill out the poll, and to confirm that they are still on board, and then I'll do one last poll to see if there are any earlier start times on the days that are already good.
-
One subject has been broached a few times and I want to comment on it. I strongly oppose finishing the draft with waivers. There are many reasons on why I feel this way: 1) we have a FAAB budget, 2) waivers will artificially inflate prices, 3) part of the greatness of an auction draft is getting cheap players late in the draft that make your season, and 4) it makes everyone have the same strategy of spending big early. Surely, we can find two times in a month and a half to complete a draft.

Thanks for all of the hard work today, Michael. It is really greatly appreciated.
I did want to suggest more earlier times on weekend days if possible. It seemed like we had some people that worked second shift or lived in another country.

Adding Michael (Scarlet Begonia) and Ben (makers of the sexy) as co-commissioners, i will be gone for a couple weeks on vacation. They are going to set a new draft time and handle getting things back to start
-
Hey, we're all newbies either, so we are all learning. If we get this going again, now, we know that the Commish can uncheck people from being done with the draft. That will help a lot next time.

Sorry this is such a mess. If you can get this resolved I think we all would like to still try and get this league going.
-
help desk emailed, will post when i get an answer
-
ok, that ended the draft and i still have zero ability to do anything
-
I can start pretty much any time after 7:30 so I'll check in early
-
From what I have read all new drafts last 5-7 hours. I have never done one so I am not sure if this is true.

already have posted previously about a 3 hour window, hoping it will be done in that time
-
Can we agree in advance on a time to pause the draft and move it to waiver style or however the "slow draft" works for remainder, and/or pick it back up next Sunday same time? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gotta get out of bed at the asscrack of dawn tomorrow morning and work a full day! : )

Draft is tonight. If possible and everyone arrives early, it looks like i will be able to start the draft early.
-
you can even add players to your watch list. might help if everyone did that so they can nominate quickly when thier pick arrives
-
Looks like we can go into the auction room at any point and get used to the interface and put players on our draft watch list. It's a little kludgy compared to the interfaces on Yahoo, etc., so worth checking out before.
-
times are listed in eastern time. i don't want to try to change the draft 2 days prior. if it gets to long we will have to do another night or finish the last of the roster on the waiver system.
-
Commish
Is the Draft 9 PM eastern time ? Or central time ?
Any chance we could start a little earlier ? I think it will go at least 4 hours total.
thanks

Draft Reminder: This Sunday is the Day
-
if the major parts of teams are assembled, then i think we can just use the free agents to post players for auction to round out the rosters. or if needed, we can do another night

I have never done one of the drafts here so i don't know. I would plan 3 hours and lets see what happens
-
I read somewhere else on Rotographs that there's an option to stop part way through and either pick it up at a later time, or to shift to a "slow" off-line draft for the second part of the rosters. Perhaps that's an option.
-
After reading that article, I was wondering, are we going to be able to get the draft in just in one night? I don't know if I can stay up until 3 am to do that.
