Well LGB its hard to organize the perfect league. And I know I'm a broken record here but none of this talk matters unless you are willing to "make" people pay. Also telling that only 3-5 of us are even engaged in this convo.
-
I'm for the $50 pay in and to use LeagueSafe instead of Ottoneu. But, I'm also with the new guy, Montreal Royals, here. Why should he or anybody else who wants to have a large pool want stay in this league long-term if everybody is not going to pay?
-
Grids - Eastern Time Zone
-
When ottoneu says the draft time is 1:30 pm, what time zone do they mean?
-
I mean I would rather everyone pay too but unless you are willing to do something to those who don't pay I can all but guarantee you not everyone will pay.
-
Preferring the larger prize pool, I obviously also prefer leaguesafe over ottoneu.

I can at least say that I'd prefer: 1. The prize pool to be larger than smaller. (e.g., 12*25 > 5*50) 2. The payouts to be more evenly spread than ottoneu default, say 1/2, 1/3, 1/6. Sorry for the repeated message, but I had typo first time around.

Yeah, I thought we had already settled on $50 as well. Also, when I was asked about, and agreed to, $50, I was under impression everyone in the league would be in the pool. I'm not sure what I think about letting people opt-out. At the same time, I'm also new here, and the only one not connected to any of you, so I'd be hesitant to take a strong position one way or the other.

I thought we already voted on $50 but if more people chime in for $20 we'll settle at $35 haha

Put me in the $50 Leagusafe Camp as well.

my vote is for same structure as last year - LeagueSafe, only those who pay in can collect as winners, but with an increase to $50
-
I like the $20 option as well, but open to suggestions

Would rather go for a $20 pay in as opposed to $50... if possible.

What are the suggestions for the payouts? And the pay in?

I'd vote LeageSafe as well since it's a higher payout, but I'm cool with whatever and will pay wherever I have to pay.
-
I previously said let's pay through Ottoneu, however, lets just pay through leaguesafe. That seems to be the easiest way for us to go. And it means potentially bigger pots.

I don't think there was much of a consensus. I will gladly start up leagusafe but not sure if I believe everyone is gonna pay. Going through oTToneu would ensure payment though I'd hope we don't lose anyone in the process. Kind of at a loss on this one as far as direction...
-
i say we start it right at 12:30 central, otherwise there is no incentive to be on time.
Have we decided what we are going to do about payment? Are we going to use OttoNeu or something else?

Are we starting the auction draft EXACTLY at 1:30 pm Eastern on February 28, or, will we allow a grace period of let's say 10 or 15 minutes to allow people extra time to make it?
-
I'm in the all or nothing camp. I'm also cool with handling the money outside of ottoneu, especially if it means bigger payouts. As for the payout structure, something resembling how ottoneu weights the payouts would be fine. If altered, would rather 2nd and/or 3rd get more weight than 1st. I hate winner take all markets in fantasy and in the real world, haha.

I have to admit OOTP looks interesting, but I doubt I'd have the time to devote to being competitive on both sites. I'm here a lot already.
-
As much as I would like to play in other fantasy baseball leagues, I'm hooked on OttoNeu and will stay here. This is by far the best fantasy baseball format available.

We ought to get an OOTP league going as well.

I play while I'm at work and it makes me VERY unproductive.

Does anyone play OOTP baseball? I highly recommend it. I am going to put our opening day rosters in their system and run a simulation. Of course it will be based off of last years statistics, but it should be fun.

I'd be cool with just paying ottoneu

And they provide a "trustworthy" service
-
Fine with those allocations but oTToneu really only profits $30 more than they otherwise would bc we already pay 10
-
Ottoneu does it 300-100-50, so they can make a profit of 150. If everybody pays, I believe the winner should get more money, something like 400-150-50, or, if everybody doesn't pay, then we'd go with percentage of the pot something like 65%-25%-and 3rd place gets money back. Any thoughts?
-
Oh yeah I guess the 50 would be on top of the 10 though all this money get paid out. Before only like 7 people paid and we only did 20 so it was something like 100-40. We could structure payout however we want once we know what the pool is.
-
Sorry, I meant in the way you guys did it before.

I'm not sure about the ability or logistics of changing tiers but I'd imagine 40 on top of 10. Payouts per rules are 300-100-50
-
So, would we pay 40 on top of the 10 for a total of 50, or 50 on top of 10 for a total of 60? And what would the payouts be?

Montreal we actually give ottoneu more money but upping to $50. 10x12=120 vs 50x12=600-payouts(300+100+50=450)=150. However if it makes everything easier I'm fine with that. Certainly easier for me and eliminates the mandatory pay issue.
-
Since there is money involved in this league, I believe everybody should pay. I only know the person who invited me to this league, so without money, its not like there is huge motivation for me to finish ahead of other owners. Money makes things more interesting because you are willing to make a wager to prove you have a clue about baseball and how to manage a team. If part of the league is going to pay and part of the league is not, why should I be here? To me, its either all or nothing.
-
I had just assumed that the league would be upgraded to the $50 tier. That way, you can't join/renew without payment. Also takes care of the payouts without need for separate system. Otherwise we're just giving Ottoneu free money, no?

it always does that for some reason. I always switch screens after posting something just in case.
-
not sure why refreshing my browser posted that again
-
Well obviously we prefer that everyone pays but thats kind of the point of my question - is it mandatory. Your answer suggests it should not be, which is fine. In that case I will make sure to post who is in and who is out - mostly for shaming purposes lol.
-
I vote for the same system as last year - non-mandatory payment with the consequence of non-payment being no ability to win at the end. I also vote for the increase to $50 each.
-

I would prefer everybody pay the $50, and those that don't just don't get any money at the end of the year. No reason to penalize anybody if they don't want to pay. The shame of knowing they're women is penalty enough.
-
In the event we give the new guys the option to wait a year (which I agree with) they would obviously not be eligible if they choose not to pay.
-
Payouts tbd based on answers to the below.
-
I just need to set up leaguesafe again - $50 was the consensus amount. The question I have for you all is do we want this to be a league requirement aka will we "punish" those who don't pay & if so how (ie lock teams from making moves or straight up trying to replace them after the season. Something else?)? If not we will just have to keep track of who paid and who didn't and only those who did will be eligible for the prize. Also should the new guys should have the option to wait a year to pay?
-
what's the money gonna be again? $50?
-
Never mind about the draft question, I see now that it is posted here on the site. But, what about paying in?
-
Has the commish officially sanctioned our draft date and time, and when are we going to put up money?
