Rime, your 2020 starting staff appears to have been born under a bad sign...if it wasn't for bad luck...yikes.

COVID-only is a tough position. At least I've got Juan Soto for it in my other 2 leagues.
-
When I drafted Puig, I did expect him to play opening day! Tough that he's COVID-only though.
-
When I drafted Cespedes, I did not expect him to play opening day! Tough that he's UTIL-only though.
-
First day standings are funny - any pitching at all puts you at the bottom below those with undefined ratios.
-
won a Yankee, Dodger Parlay last night boyz... was worried about the rain and the 1-1 tie headed into like the 6th, today, remember "tomorrow, Beers on me"! :)

Kike! Man my team always kills on opening day and just slowly fades.

Also, before this passes unnoticed, we had a 3-way coin flip today to decide the home of Stephen Piscotty. I remember Rime grousing about losing a coin flip (was that last year?) but this seems like it has to be some sort of record.

Eh, it happens. I feel like we're just scratching the surface as far as players missing this year. Mike F'ing Trout said he's worried about having to not see his baby for 14 days.

@Rime man, I’ve never seen so much bad luck w arms.

Also, math in fantasy baseball?? Come on!

I'd actually say we should resolve any such change maybe 7 days before the trade deadline, and it might need to be more than a simple majority vote.
-
de jure Commish here, thanks for the discussion. I could change the salary of every affected player, though I don't relish the idea of clicking through the pages 480 times to do so for every player. Might make more sense to allow the $1-2 increases to go as usual, and adjust only the arbitration dollars. The arbitration system is still set up as all-or-nothing, though, so it would have to be an agreement to adjust each player's cumulative increase afterwards.
-
FYI: the minimum IP has gone up to 460 IP, as the original 390 min IP was, as Niv put it, 'bad math'.

Roar, from what I've read through yesterday, they have not entirely worked that out yet. One of the many things still to be determined. And one of the many things that still makes me a bit pessimistic as to how much "season" we'll actually get.
-
Slight change of subject: has anyone seen any details about what would happen if 3 or 4 regulars on a given mlb team all got the virus simultaneously? Would those players get sent into quarantine and the rest of the team would get tested, and anyone not showing symptoms or testing positive would be allowed to play? And the rest would be on the "Covid-List" for 2 weeks?

I agree as well w/ Inkosi and J Jacks that we need more data points. Thanks again Rime for being open to possibly change the Salary Arbitration/Automatic Salary Increases at the end of the year.
-
Somewhat, yes, Cutch, but I do agree with Inkosi that we should wait until after 'the season' to figure all that out.

Jimmy Jacks, is that statement implying that you somewhat agree w/ my line of thinking?
-
I know I 'sound' like a commish (I've been one), but I'm not 'The Commish' - that would be Rime...who, by the way, if I understand Niv more fully, could theoretically use 'commissioner tools' to override the auto-salary increase.

makes sense commish... maybe instead of $25 to allocate to different league members we vote on 5, 10, 15, 20 or something...
-
Cutch, I appreciate you sharing your ideas about arbitration, and I'll be willing to consider that at the end of whatever (non-) season takes place, but you should know that Niv has already clearly indicated that the annual salary increase is going to take place at the full amount ($2 for MLBers, $1 for MiLBers) for all leagues, for sure.

Finally, I am cool w/ whatever as well. :-)
-
Obviously, we all play by the same rules regardless... but I thought at least a Would this my idea and thoughts out there and a league vote would be a solid move... At the end of the day it’s just fantasy... and it’s a fun diversion from really life stuff...
-
I feel that teams would be penalized if we have full arbitration and player salary increases...
-
Reason 2. I personally had a two year plan when I took over a bad team and spent a lot of thought on how to build it... lots of trade discussions, drafts, auctions and wavier claims to build my team... as well as others like Mateo who had a plan to build by taking over a team...
-
Reason 1: The year is a complete crapshoot... whoever gets hot, or stays cold will be in the top half or bottom half... which I think will be a blast as there is so much riding on the 60 games...
-
I would like to propose a vote that we prorate the Salary player increase at the end of the year based on season completed... We are currently playing 60 of 162 or ~37% of a season so imho, Daley increase and arbitration would still happen, but it would be for ~37%. The reason why I personally would want to vote on this is as followed...
-
I, for one, wouldn't mind deferring offseason decisions until the actual offseason. There's a decent chance that a statistically significant group of players do not take the field this year. There is also a chance the season does not finish. And maybe it doesn't ever really start. We just don't know yet. A lot of players and coaches have tested positive this week. Otherwise, I think all of Niv's in season proposals make a lot of sense.
