Minus 53 points of pitching so far. The f#%#cking day is young, maybe minus 100 is in reach.
-
Trea Turner would be a nice 6+ P/G shortstop for somebody next year. I sent a few offers. If anybody is looking toward '18, Turner might be right for you. I would take on players you might not see as keepers due to salary cap.
-
Anybody want Gerrit Cole. Seriously, that guy can just go to He\. I hope my Pirates can trade him for something... anything... Just get him off the Pirates and off the Thoroughbreds.
-
Is everyone else's stats for the day not updating?
-
Trea Turner is suddenly available. If you are willing to carry him through his DL stint, he would be a huge value next year. Not many SSs have 70 SB and 20 HR potential with good contact, BB and K rates. Not looking to "sell low" since I have plenty of cap space and roster spots, but I would trade him at a discount from what his value will be during the off-season. Trade negotiations are fun, so let's see what Turner's value might be.

I certainly did not have ESP when it came to Chase Anderson's injury. Mr. Anderson lasted 1 entire inning before he pulled (sprained? bruised? tore?) his oblique muscle (ligament? tendon?). Now the wasted $5 means I need to cut or trade somebody I wanted to keep in order to claim Miggy.
-
Seriously, how does Spa City know about these latent connective tissue injuries before the best doctors in the world?!
-
If anybody wants Matt Holliday, Brandon Drury, Dee Gordon or possibly Wil Myers please feel free to let me know. I need to make room to add Miguel Cabrera. He is not himself this year, but going in to a close pennant race he would be a nice addition to the Thoroughbreds.
-
Yeah I bid $8 on him with the same thought so you had to really pay for him. Also Miggy has officially been cut!

oops, "thin" not "thing"... Not enough covfefe yet this morning.
-
Yeah, I made a mistake with that one. I buy into Anderson as a quality starter, but I thought he would go for less. I bid $9 to make sure I got him b/c he was by far the best available free agent SP - the waiver wire is really thing in this league. He provided 1 inning of very effective pitching, so that is nice.
-
$9?!!
-
Well, the unexpectedly pricey Chase Anderson pitched exactly 1 productive inning for his new fantasy team before injuring his "oblique".

I could definitely be wrong, but I think Matt Olson is going to be pretty damn good. He can't play defense, but for Ottoneu purposes he is as good an OFer as Billy Hamilton. Did anybody see the 2 HRs he hit the other night? He was on my watch list, but when I saw that game I could not nominate him quickly enough.

Julio Urias did not even bother to apologize for his Ill-advised decision to hurt his shoulder. What a jerk!
-
I think the whole McKenzie craze can be summed up by this analogy: DEFINITION of 'Lemming'
The act of an investor following the crowd into an investment, without doing research themselves; this usually results in losses. These investors are emotional and easily swayed by the current ongoings of how well or bad the market is doing. This term is considered a "herd" mentality that can increase the chance of losing invested funds, because investors either leave the market too early or get

Sounds like bade news for Dodger fans, baseball fans who enjoy watching young star-level pitchers, and (most of all) fans of the Spa City Thoroughbreds... Julio Urias seems like he might have a shoulder injury.
-
I have a coaches game for my son's little league team tomorrow. At practice last night my fellow coaches decided I should pitch - after about 100 pitches @ practice, my arm is killing me. I agreed to give them 3 innings in the game tomorrow. I have arthritis in both shoulders, and I had (non-throwing-arm) shoulder surgery a few months ago. I have a renewed respect for the toll baseball takes on players. Getting old is no fun!
-
The uptick was probably driven by the Fangraphs article on the 17th that had the Katoh updates.
-
True. At that age I agree talent is more important than stats in small sample sizes - and this guy definitely has talent. It is just the fact that this guy went for more than most 19 year olds in so many leagues at the same time, and I had not thought of him as being at that level yet.
-
He is only 19 years old I think some struggles have to be expected, but you can't ignore those strikeouts.
-
I don't mean to 2nd guess. What made me curious is over the past few days he has sold for $3 to $5 in almost every league I am in. McKenzie was virtually un-owned until a few days ago. He was awful in his last 2 starts and he allowed 8 HRs in his last 5 starts. I had to wonder why his ownership rates spiked after the meltdowns and nobody wanted him before. No offense intended - just curious b/c it is happening in so many leagues all of a sudden. I am missing something I should be seeing.

Mckensie is a top 50 prospect by scouting, the #1 pitching prospect by KATOH+ and is in the Indians organization which seems to have a reasonably good track record with pitching prospects. And it seemed better him than Zach Davies on my roster.
-
McKenzie!!! What am I missing about this kid?

David Dahl, Greg Bird, AJ Pollock, Koda Glover and Vince Velasquez are all available. They are currently hurt, but that just means their trade value is lower for now. I don't need "depth" players, but I would trade some/all of these guys for a solid everyday player I could use to go all-in. Never hurts to talk trades.
-
Derek Fisher could not be reached for comment.
-
Yeah. I should have known better. When rebuilding for the future, always trust in the pitcher who already had his TJ surgery rather than a couple of position players who were more likely to still need the surgery. Torres is such a sad reminder of TINSTAAPP - There Is No Such Thing As A Position player Prospect. ;)
-
Torres struck me as a guy with weak ligaments. I knew I had to get rid of him before the inevitable non-throwing arm ligament injury took him down.
-
Gleybor Torres to have TJ surgery. I think we should have an special counsel for an investigation regarding Spa City's possible prior knowledge of Torres getting hurt before the Carrasco trade.
-
Especially when you can trade for the likes of a $12 Carrasco for 3 prospects, two of them are 30% owned in Fangraphs.
-
Anybody interested in shaking things up a bit? I would love to shop Greg Bird, David Dahl, Koda Glover, AJ Pollock, Logan Morrison (quietly having a breakout season in Tampa) for a player who could help me. That would be a lot of 2018 production. Nobody seems interested in trading pitching, but that is normal. I find it gets boring to just fill out lineup cards everyday, so trades make the game interesting.
-
He literally almost hit me with a homerun ball.
-
Did my lineup this morning while I was driving and drinking coffee. So now I'm at the Pirates-Rockies game in Pittsburgh watching Ian Desmond have a monster game... knowing I accidentally put him on my minor league roster.

I love the NY Post. Today's headline: "Asdrubal Cabrerra Starts Hiiting, Immediately Goes on DL". (frowny face)
-
Greg Bird and David Dahl are exasperating me with their injuries. They are available in trades. If you are interested in long-term value, these guys should be worth a ton. Bird's left-handed swing is textbook perfect, and his LH power should play great at Yankee Stadium. Dahl has a combination of speed, power, and Coors Field. If only these guys would ever actually play baseball, they would be too good to trade.
-
Ah, I see ... thanks for the knowledge
