That's alright, you had Kluber to counter the bad outing. Those of you are contemplating trading your expensive vets, I need SP now. If you wait a couple of weeks I might have Kershaw and Syndergaard back, I won't be looking for SP by then. I have some good young pitching that are cheap, and I have the best pitching prospects in the game as well. In addition, I would be willing to part with a good, young and cheap OF for a vet as well.

That is an interesting negotiating strategy. I will counter it by posting my final offer publicly. Since you don't like my minor leaguers, I would offer Kyle Seager, Yonder Alonso, and Steven Matz, along with any prospects you like. I estimate that group has roughly $15 in excess value. Stanton has negative excess value. If I were rebuilding, I would prefer $1 Alonso on his own for $62 Stanton. Dumb move to post this, but I am so effing bored at work today and I have nothing better to do.
-
and remember, it's an actual pennant
-
I get it. Stanton is too expensive to keep. I forgot to do my cuts in Jan. But I also get that there are 3 teams who can win and Stanton could be the difference. Remember the league's name: Flags Fly Forever. Spa City, Winnetka, or Flying Squirrels - one of you is getting a pennant.
-
Any of you contenders interested in Giancarlo Stanton?
-
Or an outfielder... I would also trade a reasonable amount of keeper value for an outfielder (or closer) you do not plan to keep due to salary. As much fun as it is to watch my points/day average sink lower and lower everyday, I wouldn't be opposed to doing something to try to reverse that... before it's too late.
-
Yeah I will accept wedding gifts in trades that will help me catch Spa City this year.
-
Not to sound desperate (too late, right?) but I would trade players with keeper value for somebody's over-priced relievers. A closer will give you maybe 20 more innings this year. An extra 40 points could make a difference in a tight race, so I would trade players I would normally keep to get an extra few dozen points from a closer.
-
I am only 21! But that just means I have many more years that I get to spend with the love of my life!
-
I listened to MLB radio all day. pretty lackluster trade deadline. And Squirrels my condolences. I hope for your sake that you waited till at least until you were 40.
-
Thank you!! I'm pretty excited!
-
Congratulations Flying Squirrels! Marriage is one of the few things in life more important than baseball.
-
The Flying Squirrel probably cannot concentrate because he is getting married in less than a week.
-
Anybody else find it impossible to focus on work due to the mlb non-waiver trade deadline? I think my Pirates are fooling themselves if they think they are contending for anything this year. I hope they trade McCutchen, Cole, Harrison, Freese, and Mercer. They traded Watson, but he was a mid-tier LH RP so I think that was just to save some cash.

Spa City Thoroughbreds's trade block has been updated!
-
Flying Squirrels GM is also still looking to acquire some offensive before the deadline to make a run at the Thoroughbreds.
-
In two of my other leagues, David Price was traded yesterday right before news broke out that Price was going to the DL.
-
MLBTraderumors is also reporting that the Winnetka Cubs GM is still trying to decide on whether to fire its manager and on being a buyer or seller before the deadline.
-
MLBtraderumors.com is reporting that the Thoroughbreds are looking for bullpen help for the stretch run.
-
I have not hear from him. The commissioner should be able to check the last log in date.
-
It's been almost a month since Summer of George has been active. Has anyone heard from them?

I've got the same problem. Fortunately, it wasn't anyone I'm relying on for today.

Anybody else seeing weird position eligibility issues today? I have a relief pitcher in my batter list and I can't move him into a pitching spot. And two of my hitters lost position eligibility they should have. I know the ottoneu system glitches sometimes, but this is kind of bad even for a glitchy website.
-
Ditto on what Spa City said I've got some good pitching talent I can move.
-
I would trade some of my affordable starters for a high-end RP or SP who you might not plan to keep due to salary. I have enough SP to get my 1500 innings in, but I would like to improve my P/IP. If you are looking for keeper SP to build a rotation for the future, I have Matz, Maeda and other affordable pitchers. Looking to trade FV for CV if anybody is looking for the opposite.
-
It depends on your view of Rutherford. I don't see him as a star-level prospect, but who knows? They probably force the Sox to pay more for a 3B upgrade. And Kahnle is controllable beyond this year. I think the trade makes for a potentially exciting pennant race.
-
Anyone else feel that the Yankees/White Sox trade was a bit peculiar? I don't think any of those pieces help the Yankees that much. White Sox have to be commended on talent they have accumulated over the past six months or so.
-
All valid points, and I agree with you on all of them.
-
Marwin will probably play short sometimes. But he has played SS infrequently and poorly, and he is kind of a big guy who does not seem as athletic as Bregman. My guess is Bregman will play SS at least most of the time, and Marwin will play 3B. This could open a door for AJ Reed at 1B too. Reed might have been better if they kept him as a pitcher, but he has a ton of power and as a LHH he has the platoon advantage. This won't be good for the Astros, but they should get by fine.
-
Someone just told me M Gonzalez will take over.
-
Correa being out 8 weeks is terrible for baseball fans (except those in the AL West who don't follow the Astros), but it is excellent news for those of us who were eagerly anticipating the news that Alex Bregman got 2 more starts at SS, earning him SS eligibility next year. I assume Bregman will take over at SS. Still, it sux to see an MVP candidate (albeit a long shot) miss so much time. I hope he is back for the playoffs.
-
Votto is fun to watch, but I hope he puts up a golden sombrero against the great Stephen Strasberg today.
-
I could use a couple of home runs from Votto today against Strasburg.
-
I traded all of my prospects so I could use Mountcastle. But I see Bichette as the better MI prospect - more walks, fewer Ks, better chance to stay at MI, and he is a full year younger at the same level. Mountcastle has power, but my concern is he starts his hands so high and has a very long swing; seems like a risk to have a contact problem against advanced pitching. Bichette's swing looks great, and effortless - I would have him in the top 30 prospects already.
-
If that isn't a ringing endorsement, I don't know what is. I wonder who initiated the bidding?
-

-
Mountcastle has as much chace to play SS in the majors as I do. For a corner OFer, he will be a mediocre hitter.
-
Mountcastle, a first round draft pick the year before, probably will be a top 30 prospect by the end of the year for those who are collecting prospects. At 20 years old averaging nearly 7ppg in A+.

Up here in NY state, the only sports event going on in the world seems to be the Red Sox - Yankees series this weekend. Based on the media coverage, you would get the sense that this series is bigger than the Super Bowl & World Series combined.
-
The fact that the Yankees are only four games over .500 and that practically their whole lineup is having career years shows that this team has a long ways to go. They will be 10 games behind the Red Sox and 5 games behind the Rays by the end of the month. I so sick of hearing about the Yankees and their barely over average record and nothing on the Astros and Dodgers who are both on pace to win over 105 games.

Pineda is the latest victim of the Tommy John curse. It will be interesting to see if the Yanks use their newly acquired minor league wealth to supplement their rotation, or whether they trust guys like Montgomery, Adams and Warren in the rotation and stick with the youth movement.
