It looks like BlackieTweety... last logged in on May 1st (i.e. a month ago). If that's true, I think we need to commissioner to take some action. We should get that team abandoned so a more active (read: at least somewhat active) owner can take over. It's not a terrible roster. Somebody would probably claim it as a reclamation project.
-
Yes he did, but Flags Fly Forever.
-
Quite a trade. I have to say, Maui Tacos did well for himself.
-
Winnetka Cubs's trade block has been updated!
-
Flying Squirrels's trade block has been updated!
-
Vegas Baby's trade block has been updated!
-
The best I would do with Hill is bid on him at half price if you cut him. Saves you $10 and a roster spot. Can't see trade value in him at $10. Late 30s and always hurt.
-
Anyone want to take a shot on Rich Hill? I've about lost my patience for his blisters.
-
and the Pollock injury should put us back to 13 players on the DL.

Cano now suspended for 80 games... tough break.
-
Summer of Sliders reminded me Cano was hurt. I might be bad at trades but it was an honest deal. Sliders did nothing wrong.
-
Could also be that I over estimate Tatis, or that I am jealous I was not able to acquire him first. Or (even more likely) my job is so intensely boring I think too much about ottoneu.
-
Agree, Gordon will be called up first, but he is 22 in AA. Tatis is 19 in AA. Not that I would have made the exact trade, but keep in mind this league is sort of a captive market. Very few teams are in contention, and even fewer have prospects to trade. I would have at least considered that trade, and if I couldn't find a better deal for Rizzo I probably would have traded him for Tatis straight 1-for-1.
-
Well then, nice trade for you. Personally, I think Nick Gordon is very underrated and has a much higher floor than Tatis. You are also probably catching Rizzo at the perfect time as well.
-
We did talk about the Cano injury before completing the trade. He was having a good year, but I think most of the value coming from me is in Tatis Jr.'s potential.
-
I'll make that bet with you. In fact, I'll bet you Gordon gets called up before Tatis. Tatis has a long way to go with his 30% K rate.
-
I like Tatis Jr a LOT. I would not want Cano at $19. But I would bet on Tatis to be up by next June and I think he has 30 HR power as a SS. Everybody talks about Acuna, but there are a handful of prospects who could be just as good and Tatis is one of them.
-
I know this league places a premium on prospects... but yeah... that's a good question. Cano's been on the DL for 24 hours though.

How do you guys feel about this Cano for Rizzo trade? Considering Cano is out for a minimum of six to eight weeks, I would like to know if Vegas Baby knew of Cano’s injury before I voted.
-
No, you misunderstand. TBD is receiving abuse from the rest of the 882 league for still not figuring out a team name.

No abuse intended. I just have way too much down time at work, and these kids of baseball related issues keep me from falling asleep.
-
Technically TBD isn't reading this - we're still hurling abuse at him until he changes his team name. I co-own the 3:16 team.

If TBD really wanted to go all in in that league, he would cut his $7 Jake Lamb, $4 Hansel Robles and $1 Corey Knebel, and sign Strasburg, DeGrom and Pollock for $1 each. Why settle for just winning the overall points competition? It would be fun to see if a perfect lineup could reach 30K points. I think it could be done.
-
It looks to me like an Ottoneu version of the Baseball Prospectus Hacking Mass competition. The goal is to accumulate the worst teams possible while meeting minimum playing time and IP requirements. And the TBD team decided to intentionally lose the competition which therefore ensured they "win" the league with an insane roster.
-
Those are some decent free agents, for sure. Maybe the team holding a $55 James Shields, or another with a $49 Alcides Escobar might find themselves a waiver wire gem.
-
I need to get in to that league. Remaining free agents include JD Martinez, Pham, Pollock, Bellinger, Springer, Benintendi, Trea Turner, Jose Ramirez, Bogaerts, Bregman, Gregorius, Gleyber Torres, Strasberg, DeGrom... The non-TBD/Hobbit teams are missing some fairly decent players they could pick up for $1.
-
Looking through page 1 of the transactions page in that league: Alex Bregman was owned for $1 and was cut on 5/6. Nobody has picked him up yet. On 5/9 TBD (Not a Hobbit) picked up Justin Verlander and Josh Hader for $1.
-
look forward to hearing the story! my guess is it's a first year league and everybody else missed the draft.
-
There has to be an interesting story in that league. - YES
Ask me after the season and I'll tell you. Right now the league is thoroughly amused by the wild conspiracy theories this has generated.

I forgot Freeman, Goldschmidt, Altuve, Arenado, Lindor, Machado, Hoskins, Posey and Gary Sanchez, all also $1 on the same team.
-
Just out of interest, how did Betts, Trout, Harper, Votto, Bryant, Blackmon, Rizzo, Stanton, Correa, Judge, Kimbrel, Chapman, Jansen, Osuna, Cole, Kershaw, Severino, Verlander, Kluber, Scherzer, Syndergaard, Sale etc all wind up going for $1 to the same team? There has to be an interesting story in that league.
-
It is not one person controlling every team in a league. Although I understand that's been done before.

Just a counterpoint... If somebody wants to pay $120 to control an entire league just to set a record, it seems cruel to deny them the fun of seeing their name atop the leader board.
-
*that team should be allowed to be atop a global leaderboard.
-
Yeah I'm just saying that's almost as bad as if I were to just start a league and take control of every team and stack one team to get as high points as possible. Doesn't seem that twam
-
Have you looked at their roster? It's filled with $40 and $50 players--each at a salary of $1. You can put that team on any leaderboard you want to, but something got screwed up in that league. Maybe give em an asterisk like Maris.
-
Why should that team be banned from the leaderboard?

Wow... that team should be banned from being on the leaderboard or something. It had to be like a new league and he was the only team to start the auction and got everyone for $1.
-
What the %$%# is going on in that league?
-
Hmmm...... seems like Not a Hobbit can explain it.
-
check out the team that is #1 overall in FG points. Pay particular attention to the salaries. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/882/team?team=6264
-
Well, back down to 11th... So much for my resurgence.
-
All of your front runners sound so confident... Have you noticed the resurgent Thoroughbreds charge up the standings to 9th place? With some luck I could work my way into the top 7!
-
Oh yeah the luck I've been getting on the offensive side has been great, I've just had some bad pitching but no real complaints here!
-
Sale threw 120 pitches tonight, I wonder what this start will cost him and the Red Sox later this year.....
-
Are you whining about bad luck? You should be thanking your lucky stars from what you are getting from Solarte and Herrera.
-
Miles Mikolas was 1 pitch away from throwing an awesome 7 inning outing for me and gives up a homerun on his 100th pitch then gets pulled. Such is baseball, such is life.
-
On the bright side (not really a bright side) no innings were wasted on Bundy because he didn't record an out.
-
And Hunter Harvey, too. The next generation of Orioles dominant starters. That is pitching prospects for you. A guy nobody but Winnetka knew about (Fernando Romero) is killing it, and many "top prospect" starters are at or below replacement level.
-
I remember not that long ago, Bundy and Gausman were the next big thing for the O's. The only question was which of them would win more Cy Young awards.
