I would argue that Whitley is worth more than the lot that Team Name gave up for Machado, Whitfield and Allen.
-
Whit Merrifield KCR 1B/2B/OF R $6
Manny Machado SDP SS/3B R $36
Cody Allen LAA RP R $11
Outgoing Loan $25
Eduardo Nunez BOS 2B/3B R $6
Jeurys Familia NYM RP R 10IL $13
Hunter Renfroe SDP OF R $4
Brent Honeywell TBR (AAA) SP R 7IL $4
Jesus Sanchez TBR (AA) OF L $3
Austin Riley ATL (AAA) 3B R $3
Outgoing Loan $0

Right again, wise one. I know I don't have the tenure it takes to railroad a trade in this league.
-
I will more than imply it. You are being a hypocrite. Nobody who green-lighted your Machado trade will veto this one. The trade will go through, and everyone will be fine.
-
So, you're calling this an incredibly lopsided trade? Like one you vehemently opposed? When the party you presumed had been taken advantage of saw value in a return? Right, but go ahead and imply that I'm the hypocrite here
-
Team Name had no problem with incredibly lopsided trades last July. Of course, in that case the trade helped him win a title, so it is completely different...
-
Yep it's our fault. Sounds like you had the green light to give him away
-
Those players were on my trade block. I told everybody they were available, and I got zero offers. At least 3 teams rejected trades for Bregman, without making a counter offer.
-
All I know is that 5 months ago it took Whitley and top C prospect Joey Bart to get a $38 Altuve. Now Whitley alone fetches a $9 consensus top-5 prospect hitting at the top of an MLB lineup, a $26 Bregman AND a $30 loan. And it's cool because, you know, the involved parties are tenured .... message received
-
The circumstances are substantially different. Both Spa City and Winnetka are longtime established Ottoneu team owners. There was no picking off a newbie to the league. In fact, I believe Spa City and Winnetka have the longest tenure in Flags Fly Forever. If Spa City would have made the same or similar trade with any other owner in the league, I would not have voiced an opinion because I respect Spa City's opinion and trust his game plan.
-
Bregman was shopped around for weeks and nobody wanted him. Robles was on my trade block and nobody made offers. Most teams did not even send counter offers when I asked about their top prospects. If they are now viewed as being so much more valuable than Whitley, why no interest from any of you?
-
I always read Winnetka's whines/rants with a "crotchety old man" voice. This one, however, coaxed a chuckle. "I didn't want Bregman"? or "Perhaps this one will work out for me"? Just so I understand, we're supposed to turn a blind eye so long as at least one of the owners has a "good track record"? Nimrods is right - any other owner would be vilified for this one, with Winnetka out front leading the charge.
-
I didn’t want to trade Whitley at all. This was at least his fifth try at it. I didn’t want Bregman, not that I don’t like him, but if I were to trade Whitley, I needed to fill a need. Spa’s track record speaks loudly and he almost always comes out on top on trades with me. Perhaps this one will work out for me this time, but Spa deserves a year or two to judge this one.
-
I say that is not a reason for concern. Just as I also say the recent small sample size poor performance from Vlad, Robles and Whitley is also not a reason for concern.
-
No. I don’t say. That is exactly 1000% the opposite of what I say.
-
34 at bats from an 18 year old playing in a league with an average age of 21 should be a reason for concern, you say?

What price would any of you demand for a prospect like Whitley? Would anybody else trade a top 5 prospect for less? Because I am open to offers if Franco or Kirilloff are available.
-
Exactly. I am exactly as worried about Whitley’s recent 17 innings of poor performance as I would be about Franco’s recent 10 games of poor hitting. Whitley is the player I wanted and I paid the price it took to get him.
-
I agree that your record speaks for itself Spa. But the history of this league also says that if that trade went down with different teams involved, the message board would blow up. And you know that a 10 game stretch is nothing. By the same logic, Whitely is a bum who has given up 7 home runs in 18 innings in the minor leagues. And he is the same age as Robles who is in the majors.
-
Wander Franco has only 7 hits in his last 10 games, only 1 double, only 1 SB, and zero HRs. But I know minor league stats are not the way to rate prospects. If he is available, I will make an offer that includes Gleyber Torres and/or one of my good RPs if you like them.
-
Victor Robles has been terrible in his last 10 games. Averaging 2.6 P/G, and but for 1 good game in that stretch he would be averaging less than 0.9 P/G.
-
I know, right? Vlad Jr also is having a bad start this year.
-
Especially with his hot start to the season 🙃
-
If you had Whitley, what would it take for you to trade him? Most people wouldn’t trade him at all.
-
I think I have earned enough credit over the years that you should trust me to know what I am doing. 8 titles in 5 years. I can’t win in 2019 but I want Whitley next year.
-
Bregman AND Robles (both paid less than Ottoneu average) for Whitley? 2 position players for a pitching prospect (TINSTAPP). Wow.

My RP has been a dumpster fire this year. Over the weekend: 4 innings and -30 points. My RP are now averaging only 5.3 P/IP which is barely better than my starters at 5.0 P/IP. And the starters never get the Hold or Save bonus points!

I am going into rebuild mode, so hit me up with offers for players on my team that might help you win this year. I'm willing to take on some injured players with value as well.

Its not my fault this time :)

I knew I should have bid more for Gardner. He looks like a different player this year. I hate the Yankees of course (who doesn't?) but Gardner looks like a solid hitter who should get plenty of at bats. My OF is a mess.
-
No problem Spa! No hard feelings here.

Anyway - I’ll leave it at that, and take the down votes I very likely deserve.

But then again, why did God give us a liver if he did not want us to make use of it?
