Clayton Kershaw, you are a bad bad man!

John, I think that's a good idea to keep the league competitive from top to bottom. There's also something intriguing about taking over a last place team and rebuilding it to make something out of nothing. I vote yes.
-
what if we required a monetary contribution in order to draft ($30-$50). And then it's a sizeable pot for the winner. But then, whoever wins the league has to forfeit their team and take over the last place team. They don't have to pay an entry fee for the season after their victory (cause they'll probably suck). But it would solve the problem of how to keep the league uber competitive over the long haul without having to attract super humanly driven newbies into the league every year.
-
hey all, that shit was beautiful. way to be. I got ideas for next year though to make it even better.
-
thanks for sharing that link, Dave. It was definitely the most fun I've had during the last week of the season and I'm real proud to be part of such a competitive league. My goal is to have 8 or 9 of us within striking distance on the last day next year. Congrats to Dylan for taking it home again. You motivate me to be better. happy off-season everyone.
-
Congrats Sierras! None of us finished strong, but you came out on top. There's no makeup game for the Tigers and Indians today because the Tigers are officially eliminated and the Indians' playoff seeding is set in stone.
-
I bungled the finish pretty bad between yesterday and today. Not quite done. Still tomorrow.
-
Congrats California, and everyone on another great season. Enjoy the playoffs!
-
Great job everyone! Arrieta and my other SPs have been trying their best to ruin my chances for the last month, but it promises to be an interesting final weekend where one or two individual players could determine the outcome.
-
Yoooo, that's awesome! Well done gentlemen! I'm a little jealous that this is happening the year I go into semi-retirement, although, I'm also glad that I don't have to deal with the daily anxiety that comes with such a tight race that i'm sure many of you are experiencing (or maybe that was just me). Good luck to all of you!

I would like every one to consider a moment of silence for Jose Fernandez. How fragile things are and how oddly they effect us.

ok. I know we've all been saying it for a long time now. But it is incomprehensible to me that there are roughly seven teams that could still mathematically win this thing with like two weeks left. it's definitely the most competitive season we've had so far and I think that if we got another solid owner or two we could be the most competitive league in the ottoneu universe year in and year out.
-
Thanks for investigating, John! Soft cap vs. hard cap clears it up. So even though you reach a games played limit for a position, it doesn't start enforcing it until you're over the limit. I remember we also ran into the innings limit question the other year, in that the soft cap finishes out all your SP and RP for the day, even if this means you go over 1500 innings pitched. At least this is known to everyone now!

Sorry if it came across like I was saying you were cheating. I've been playing this game for 5 years now and am very familiar with the rules. This is not something I've seen before, so I wanted to bring it to everyone's attention as a potential system issue. Like Matt said, we've had a decent number of system glitches over the course of the league.
-
Easy there fella, there is no way to cheat but there have been glitches in the past.
-
it records how many times i placed players in the slots, but read the rules, you only get points credits as long as you are under the allowed amount - Is this your 1st time playing? There is no way to cheat.

That's not what your hitter totals and C games played show. It shows you used 164 of 162 C games.
-
I don't get the points once the limit is reached.

How did Mr. Baseball start 2 catchers tonight when he was already at the 162 game limit?
-
yep, hopefully my offense will keep me in the race.

Mr Baseball, you used up your pitcher innings too quickly! Use those last 15 wisely!
-
Top 3 teams separated by 25 points and top 5 teams separated by just over 300 points. I think this is the closest race we've ever had this late in the season!
-
I agree all the way! it fills my heart with warm fuzzies that there are so many teams competing for the title this late in the game. Thanks to all for making this so fun for so long.

You are defending "your title" eh ?
-
What a great race we have with no less than 7 teams all in the mix to finish 1st. I am happy to be in 1st - and to defend my title - but I know my lead is paper thin, and I love it, its too boring to run away with a huge lead. May you all continue to fight this out, and the best owner to finish 1st. Good job everyone - and good luck for 2nd place! (of course i won't wish you luck catching me!) I love the fight though.

Given that there are only 6 pitchers overall who have more points than Kershaw, it falls in the impressive column for me. Btw, I'm still kicking myself for dropping Verlander early in the year, who's now your pitcher with the 2nd most points!
-
kershaw hasn't pitched in 2 months and still has the most points of any pitcher on my team. I can't tell if that's sad or impressive.
