I'm up for whatever people think. Thanks for commenting. And thanks for caring. I have a solid sense that you will be a positive addition to the league.
-
i hear you. that's a solid point. and i am open to being encouraged to re-add the players back to my team and hold to the traditional cut deadline. i do think that since our potential draft date is so early that it have less effect than it would if we were drafting in early April. Would a week-long extension of the deadline be a better solution? All cuts by Feb. 7?
-
At some point everyone needs to commit to their decisions or pay the penalty. So if this moment is going to be the draft, then the rule of penalty-free cuts shoudl apply to all and everyone, no questions asked. Do we all agree?

Dear commissioner. Agreed that the deadline is arbitrary and no problem with you making your cuts today instead of three days ago.
However, the deadline does serve a function: after that point decisions are not supposed to be painless anymore. Say a prospect I kept turns out to be lousy in Spring Training and gets demoted to minor league camp. I might decide that I prefer to cut my prospect and use the money in the draft. That is fine, but this decision is supposed to come with a price....

Best response ever. To be fair I was agonizing over a drop that I may still make. 😄
-
also, i'm a bad commissioner. I completely forgot about the keeper deadline and didn't announce it. also, I didn't make the cuts I wanted to for myself. And since, as we all know, the keeper deadline is really just a re-appropriated pagan holiday, then I am choosing to not recognize its significance to our league or observe it in any way. So I'm gonna make cuts to my team, and will do the same to yours if you ask nice up until the day of the draft. Cause I can. And I think it makes sense.

great! march 4 or 5 is good for me as well.

Good Morning to all! I just claimed the Mr. Baseball team. This seems like a competitive league, which is a good thing. I am playing in two other Ottoneu-leagues since 3 years ago. Looking forward to an interesting season!

For me March 4 is fine, I could do March 5 if it starts at 6 eastern or later
-
Either March 4th or 5th during those times works for me

Let's start throwing around some potential dates to make sure the auction draft happens this year. Does Saturday, March 4th or Sunday, March 5th work for people? Because we have people on both coasts, I think 5 pm Eastern/2 pm Pacific has historically worked the best.

yeah, we usually wait until around spring training to draft. But since the league is pretty set we could theoretically draft at any point. The earliest I'd advocate for would be early March. I'd like to do a full auction draft as well this year.
-
Nope, not yet.
-
hey guys - so has an auction date been setup yet?

Great. I look forward to the live auction as well
-
I concur. Last year was a bit odd. I look forward to the live auction each year. Makes it fun. 😄
-
Yeah I for sure vote for the auction draft - Will be fun!
-
Traditionally, we've had the auction draft on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in late February or early March. John (the commissioner) usually throws around some potential dates, and we try to find one that works for everyone. Last year was the first year we couldn't find a date that worked for everyone, so we unfortunately had to auction individual players using the normal 2-day process. I'm hoping we can return to the auction draft this year because it's a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

any idea when the auction draft will take place

Yah, there was a local buyin, but making it for everyone is a good idea.
-
California Sierras - your message reminded me of a conversation that started up when I first joined the league. Looking back I think it was manager Kershaw's Baby Mama who proposed the league being a buy-in league (like $30 or so). I know I'm the new guy, so I'm down for whatever... playing for bragging right is fun/worth it too! If we were voting on it though, I would definitely go for it being a buy-in league to increase the stakes/fun. Just my two cents!
-
Welcome, we are a good league and love to have some freah points of view.
