but mostly, just have fun! and no worries about any of these items--just my general thoughts.
-
3. if you're nominating an expensive guy, try not to start out at $1. e.g., if trout was nominated, try starting the bidding at $40 or something, rather than $1.
-
2. be ready to have a guy to nominate well before your slot comes up. it keeps things moving.
-
a few points for the draft: 1. we're a mandatory nomination league. this means that if it's your turn to nominate, you have to put someone up. if you don't the draft app will automatically kick you out. of course we allow for a honest mistake every now and then, but the general point is that we don't want people just hanging back and waiting till the end.

I am in on the charitable donation concept.
-
Agreed. Great idea.
-
Love this idea -- will also donate $20 to the charity of the winner's choice.
-
I'm in for $20 for the charity of the winner's choice. Great idea.
-
just a reminder, our draft is this Sunday, 3/12, at 5 pm EDT. even though we don't play for money, i'll make a $20 contribution to the charity of the winner's choice, or Doctors Without Borders if i take home the crown. anyone else can feel free to opt in, though it's purely voluntary. see y'all sunday--be there & be square.

The unsettled question is how niv will handle two way players, who both pitch and play the field. Guys like betancourt and possibly Otani whenever he comes over frm Japan.
-
they changed this rule a few yrs back when people were using this loophole to keep six or seven RPs going at all times.
-
very good question, actually! you can play position players anywhere they're eligible and still get their stats. but you can't do this for pitchers. if a pitcher has both RP/SP eligibility, you can only earn points when the pitcher is playing in that same slot. e.g., a guy has RP/SP eligibility and is pitching on a particular day as an RP. if you put him one of your SP slots, you won't earn any points.
-
If I have a player that is eligible to play multiple positions (say 3rd and OF), if I start him as a 3rd baseman but he actually plays in the OF does it count as a 3rd base start? Stupid question, but just want to be sure.

great, i'll assume we're good to go with the draft on 3/12 at 5 pm EDT. based in previous years, the draft will probably last around three hours.

yes, just confirmed with vibber that this is the case--we can all still make trades up until the deadline, but you can't cut anyone you receive in a deal.

i think that as long as a trade is accepted before the deadline, it still goes through.

How does this latest trade work when it wont be valid until after the cut deadline? Are we to assume all players are kept because the cut deadline is passed?

March 12 works.

March 12 works for me as well.

3/12 works for me, but I would prefer it to be as early in the day as possible. 3/19 would work for me too

All dates work for me (12, 19 & 26 March). I would prefer in the evening rather than in the afternoon. But it can be made to work either way.
-
Sounds like march 12 is the best date so far. Please let me know by Friday if it doesn't work, otherwise we'll lock it in thanks!

March 19 works for me. Question: how long do your drafts last? Safe to assume a 3 hour affair?
-
As long as its after the end of March Madness games. I'll be in Vegas
-
How abt march 19--does that work for everyone?

I will be out of town the weekend of the 26th so it's not ideal. 19th or 12th would both be better. If not I will talk to my wife about doing the draft while we're at her parents'. If I offer to watch my daughter during, I should get away with it.

Thanks for clarification on trades after deadline, that is an important distinction that I missed
