Very motivated seller for Matz or Puig, if either is of interest.

I wonder whether the maker of that surplus spreadsheet would actually take a bet that 2019 Walker Buehler would actually finish higher than Nola, Kershaw and Bauer
-
Would sell Dozier, Sano, Manaea, Rodney, Christin Stewart, and Matt Kemp for virtually anything with a low salary that's worthy of keeping for me in 2019.

We could clarify #3 by saying this: if you re-auction a player you cut, you get them for no less than the salary you originally cut them at. That removes any issues of intent
-
Current rules are: 1) no trade vetos; 2) the arb coupon system; and 3) no re-auctioning a player you previously cut with the intention of re-cutting again to clear cap room.

Congrats everyone—100% arb participation! Nice work! And with that, let’s open the floor for any proposals to modify our existing rules or introduce news ones.

Just a reminder—completing arbitration is mandatory to stay in the league. The owners who haven’t done it yet are all pretty active, so i’m not too worried abt it. But please give me a quick head’s up if you plan on waiting till 48 hrs of the deadline (except for Muskies who has already done so). Thanks!

Welcome to our new owner: The WAR of 18.12! He's an experienced Ottoneu owner and generally brilliant guy, so he should be up and running in no time. The few custom rules in our league are: 1) no trade vetoes; 2) an arbitration coupon system; and 3) no re-auctioning a player you previously cut with the intention of re-cutting him for cap space. We can debate additional rules or modifications to these existing rules once we're through arbitration.

hi everyone--arbitration has begun. participation in arbitration is mandatory to stay in this league. arbitration helps maintain competitive balance and keeps the league interesting. it only takes about 5 minutes. also, i'm going to put BCBB's team on the abandoned team list to try to find a new owner, but please let me know if you have a friend who'd be interested in taking it over.

Yep, I also dropped Archer to make my roster legal, though I'm not sure I can claim he was a trade chip at $29.
-
Lot of hype on minor leaguers, but that's part of the fun. Anyway, the two biggest movers here are guys I totally whiffed on: https://www.mlb.com/news/year-end-mlb-top-100-prospects-list/c-296917278?tid=151437456
-
If that was the case i would not have dropped Bell, Garcia ,Trevino and Greinke to get my roster down to 40 players and make it legal think we went through this last year with Sugar and he had to get his roster down to 40 players if you want to change this nexy year think we should vote on it. Thanks Chuck

Even if you want to make that argument about the salary cap not applying in the offseason, you're also over the roster limit.
-
I've already told peel that he can remove the two players last added if he'd like, but I still maintain that the rules are clear that once the offseason hits, the salary cap is irrelevant.

Just looking at the message board from last year- there was no vote making official changes to the gray area within the rules.

Oh yeah. You did mention that. That's precedent then. Wildman should have to make cuts.
-
There is no loophole. Last season Sugary loaded up on a bunch of players on the final day and then disappeared. When he returned a day after the season ended, he had to cut until he was under the cap. There were even threats of kicking him out of the league.
-
Since we don't have a process currently in place, I'd be inclined to let Wildman skate on this. But going forward this is a loophole that we as a league should close. I'm actually less sympathetic to the Process Trusters, since that $50 limit was established. On the other hand, the coupon thing wasn't widely understood, so I'd be OK with him receiving his full amount.
-
yeah, i know, but they aren't supposed to do that. and i can't be policing everyone's rosters every day.

and the penalty for that is not being able to make lineup changes. Other teams go multiple days with illegal rosters throughout the season

If you want me to get down to the roster size limit, that's fine I guess. But the rules specifically state that there is no salary cap from the end of the season until the MLB keeper deadline.

Almost everybody is going to be over the cap very shortly. I've gone over at the end of almost every season.

One other thing: Trust had exactly $50 in incoming loans, and said he wasn’t familiar with the coupon system. I’m fine with waiving the 50% penalty and giving him the full $10. If anyone objects, please say so by Friday Oct 5.
