Assuming his birth certificate is correct, he has a long career ahead of him
-
I am just excited to have this Pujols kid for $3 next year. Homers every time I look
-
Speaking of a pitcher owning another team, Cortes in three starts against the Orioles this season: 18. 1 IP scoreless with 31 K.
-
Nestor is saying, no no no, this isn't over.
-
I think Merrill Kelly last night ruled out whatever infinitesimal chance I had at second place. You know they talk about third time through the order? This year Kelly had FIVE terrific starts (by Ottoneu standards as well as reality) against a disappointing and indifferent Giants lineup. Guess I should have seen it coming, but it took till start no. 6 of the season before SF finally bothered to kick his ass.
-
Fivethirtyeight has not ruled out Cronenworthy yet...

hard to talk trash when you’re picking your teeth off the ground.

Commish please set Olivares's salary to $2. Thank you.
-
Thought I had a chance yesterday, then got lapped by all the psychics that knew even DeGrom wasn't immune to the A's' usual September bullshit
-
I too chose Kirby! I am comically bad at Pick Six. Congrats to Bluefin/HKB, though. And while I'm here, don't listen to Dave. He is a far far better fantasy player than he is as a fantasy baseball race handicapper. Check out the race results over the last 3 days if you don't believe me.
-
That’s awesome! I think all Six Picks wins are moral victories for our whole league. (Sadly, I chose with my heart today and went with George Kirby)

Looks like a 7th place finish, much better than usual but still outside the top 6. Getting there. In the pick six random dudes contest, took 1st yesterday. Picking Judge everyday is paying dividends!
-
close race, but i think Rusty has got it.

I finished 3rd from the bottom! But at least I beat Nivshah
-
Apparently better at picking 6 random guys than an entire team -- finished 5th yesterday!
-
Yeah, over on Slack Niv did state that he had the game going back in 2011. Dave, you have legacy participation.
-
my last entry on pick 6 was from 2011

This was fun, and deeply deeply annoying.

Looks fun! Giving it a go today! Thanks for the heads up.

Niv created a fun end-of-season Ottoneu game here: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/sixpicks/

hooray! one last day in first before framber sticks a fork in me.

No one wanted Merrill Kelly. I'd have moved him for a little less than DeGrom.
-
I only have 14 players who've been rostered continuously since opening day. Finishing in the middle of the pack every year is hard work, apparently.
-
There go my last two active players in their 30s. All that's left is Pujols and Kenta Maeda sitting on the 60-day wondering what he got himself into.
-
WAR has perfected the stalker approach to winning Ottoneu.
-
Franimal now running a daycare.
-
I have 13 players left on my roster from opening day
-
And there it is. The trade deadline has passed. Let the shit talking begin.
-
just a reminder—trade deadline is tomorrow. all trades must be accepted by midnight eastern time tomorrow.

Stanton's available for pennies on the dollar...
-
The rules stated that Tatis, Jr needed to be off the IL before he could start serving an 80 day PED suspension, so he went through a quick rehab on his wrist injury to start the clock. Now he goes under the knife for a long known shoulder injury and it's A-ok to rehab the shoulder while on PED suspension. Got it!
-
If Ottoneu had a best ball format, you'd have my vote
-
With 100-some more IP left than the teams above me, I keep counting on being able to move up in the standings. But then I commit idiocy like benching Ranger Suarez today. As little actual work as I do (freelance tech writing, baby), it still gets in the way of what's important.
-
Have to admit owning Ohtani is rather hilarious. Just looked at the scoreboard and did a double take. He's 3 for 4 with a triple. Yesterday he was 3 for 4 with a triple. If he did it 5 days in a row would anyone truly be surprised?
-
Tightest race I've seen in my 6 seasons here.
-
croney in the scrum, too.

seriously though, looks like Framber is in first by a decent bit, with WAR, Vlad Moon, 4 Baggers, and me all basically tied for 2nd. fun race so far.

Only if you also lead the league in RBIs in Tuesday afternoon games.

it’s total number of days in first wins, right?

Another two or three hundred days like today and you guys are in trouble
-
Here comes Franimal. Season debuts from DL Hall & McCullers on the same day.
-
yep, that’s how i read the rule: 22 players means you only need 1 catcher.

I think your fine playing one catcher. I play one catcher for large segments of the summer because the second catcher isn't productive. I'll easily make my catching limits. Counting both catcher spots, there are 23 active roster spots. You need to fill 22 spots, which I'm assuming means having one healthy catcher.
-
ah, i see now: 22 doesn't include the second catcher slot given the limit at C is 162, not 324.
-
I've violated that rule in past years by cutting my second catcher in September. Should all teams carry two catchers at all times? If so, I'll pick another one up.
-
the current roster restriction is in the core set of ottoneu rules: roster at least 22 MLB players capable of filling out a lineup.

i think you’re fine. you have heaney and ashby that are ‘capable’ of filling out your roster by playing RP on a given day.

That being said, I'm carrying 13 healthy major league pitchers. Swapping in bullpen arms will actually make it harder for me to reach the innings goal. I think those are the kinds of subtleties that make these rules ineffective.
