aha, thanks guys. Not terribly useful since RBI and runs don't count in this format. Mookie, that is impressive. I'm surprised he only is worth -25 on the year, given 4 disastrous appearances. Must not be giving up many HR.

You’re not the only one with some record setting shares 😂

I don't want to brag, but I feel the need to point out the record setter that I've got on my roster for only $3. Trevor Rosenthal has faced 9 batters this season over 4 appearances, and not only has he failed to get any of these batters out, 7 of them have come around to score. Counting his final appearance before his injury, he has tied the major league record with 5 appearances without recording an out. We can only pray that the Nats trot him out there to own the record all for himself.
-
Yes, It's their slot in the lineup. So much data at our fingertips.
-
Think it is their lineup slot if they are starting
-
Can someone tell me what the numbers in the little green boxes mean on the "today's stats" page? They're also on the lineups page for your team. I assume some kind of matchup rating? Low numbers are good? or...? I looked and couldn't find anything about them from Niv Shah, the guy behind Ottoneu.
-
You could have had Alcantara for $6!
-
Anyone need help at 1B? I have a glut of first basemen, make me an offer.
-
Yes, that was probably an overpay. But I can afford it, thanks to the worst draft of my life.

Looks like Tatis is coming sooner than expected. Turner on the market as hopefully I won't need two young SS for long.
-
The system automatically notes it when someone goes on the 60-day DL, and you get an extra roster spot to replace them. If someone is just on the 10-day, then I believe that you do not get an extra roster spot to make up for it. For instance, right now I have 43 roster spots due to having 3 guys on the 60-day, but I don't have any extra spots to compensate for my one guy on the 10-day, or my multiple guys that are "DTD" but won't be playing for a few weeks.
-
do we have DL spots in this league? my first year in Ottoneu, so wasn't sure how it was set up

Not surprised this transaction got the attention of the slack channel. It merits conversation outside of our league. Might be a good idea to read opinions of FBB players around the country then make your decision/vote.
-
This proposed trade is getting a lot of play on the ottoneu slack channel. The reviews are...not favorable: https://ottoneu.slack.com/messages/C03AH8R0S/convo/C03AH8R0S-1553134156.512800/ Some commenters were saying they could see just Trout for Vlad & Torres being fair, at those prices. Reading this thread just helped me decide how to vote.
-
A point in the trade's favor is that all 3 of those prospects have lower than average salaries.
-
Kluber wrote: "So basically any impactful trade we need to check with the league to make sure each owner thinks it’s okay???? Get out of here." Well, actually, yes that is how Ottoneu is set up. We had some crazy trade offers last year that were shot down. Crazier than this. I think the rule is there for a reason and everyone should just think about it and vote for what they think is right. I haven't made up my mind yet.
-
I wonder if Shecks had shopped around, if he could have gotten a better offer? Probably NOT in this case, because Kluber obviously has some high end prospects in this package. Fangraphs puts a future value of 70 on Vladito and a 60 on the other 2. AND they are probably all playing in MLB in 2019. The fourth guy isn't viewed as much of an asset with a future value of 45. I have to admit, this is an amazing prospect offer. Still not enough for me though to give up the 3 HOF studs he traded.
-
On prospects: About 60% of position players ranked in Baseball America’s top 20 succeed in the majors.
About 40% of pitchers ranked in the top 20 succeed in the majors. The source is old but I think the general idea still applies. https://www.royalsreview.com/2011/2/14/1992424/success-and-failure-rates-of-top-mlb-prospects
-
My response to Sabo's post: This is true in general. I think in this case though, the return is gratuitous. I love prospects, but I think this is overvaluing them. Prospects get hurt, or you hold them for 4 years and still only have Jurickson Profar, or Jesus Montero, or Justin Smoak, etc after all that time. Especially pitchers are super risky. TNSTAAPP. I think this just feels a little too Florida Marlins-ish. We'll be awesome for a year, then suck and rebuild.
-
oh boy. I'm coming late to this party. I want to answer a few people specifically. Sabo said "I"m inclined to accept the trade. Although the future-value side is a bit light, the trade is just a present value/future value swap turned up to 11. If other teams have future value like Vladito and Gleyber, they too can cash it out for a big short-term upgrade."

thanks guys for some good morning reading with my coffee :) shecks, youre already in 1st place! newcomer causing controversy and sitting on top (of an early season)
-
Fair points just seeing if there was middle ground everyone would be ok with. Looks like it’s veto or approve and wait to see what happens.
-
I don't know whether I should be proud of myself or not about the type of controversy I've created within my first few months in the league. I'm gonna stick with proud, gotta have some self confidence

We are not having the league negotiate a trade. That is a messy business, and I want no part of enforcing it. The league is allowed to discuss accepted deals and vote to approve or veto them. The reasons for voting for either of those options is at the discretion of each owner. I recommend each owner consider which of those options he or she thinks should happen.
-
I refuse to have anyone control my team and decide what is a fair return for myself or any other owner. If you want to control the trades I make and my negotiations than you can pay my league entry fee

Would trimming down the trade be approved by everyone? Vlad for Trout being the base of it? I don’t like a league getting into the way of a Vlad trade, because it will happen at some point to chase the title. I also don’t like the league seen as over day 1.
-
No this is a rare situation where a team with a lot of talent also has the best value in the game. Ending the season before it starts barring injuries to multiple guys really sucks and I can see where a lot of the owners are coming from. Hell both sides are right. The trade is future for win now, but win now usually doesn’t end a season race day one.
-
So basically any impactful trade we need to check with the league to make sure each owner thinks it’s okay???? Get out of here

Main concern with the trade is after seeing initial reaction that it’s percieved the league is over and people will lose interest since first has a clear front runner. That’s my two sense, if it was a deadline deal with a month left and the other competitors were close and incentivized to buy then it’s a different story.
-
Too many times in fantasy owners only think how it effects them PERSONALLY rather than how it actually effects the two teams involved in the trade. I accomplished a goal and made my team better by trading away keepable assets. While the other team gainsed keepable assets that will help them contend in their long term goals 2020-future years) vetoing a trade because it doesn’t benefit you personally is not the right way to play fantasy sports

I’m with ya there man. The opportunity was there for shex to set his team up to contend in 2020 by trading for one of the best assets for next year. While trading away guys that he won’t keep

Each owner runs his team the way he wants to. It would be ridiclous for this trade to be vetoed. There is no collusion. And that’s the only time a trade should ever be vetoed for

How on earth would this get vetoed? It’s ON baseball each owner has his own value of a player. I don’t think it’s rigjt for a trade to ever get vetoed. He’s getting upside In 4 keepable assets. There shouldn’t even need to be any explaination as to why this trade was accepted. Shex obviously liked his return. As did I. Played multiple years of ON baseball as well as ON football never saw a trade get vetoed.....

Look I'm the new guy in this league but I don't see anything good in this trade. There is nothing wrong with vetoing a trade that seems wrong or unfair for some reason. Everyone can make their own decision one way or another. The race for second place shouldn't happen before the season even really begins, as Launch Angles suggests.

I would love to hear some defense for this trade. It basically feels like we would be allowing Kluber to operate from day 1 with a $530 salary cap while the rest of us have the standard $400. Beyond the players involved it seems unfair to the rest of the league to give someone that level of financial advantage at this point in the season.
-
....and the race for second place starts today.
