Yes, congrats to Kluber. The whole league seems to have a lot more points this year. I'm guessing maybe that is related to the surge in home runs in MLB this year? My 2015 1st place team would have tied for 4th this year. In 2014 the winner didn't even have 18,000.
-
Also a congratulations on a new league point record by Kluber!
-
Yes, congrats to Kluber on his championship. I thought I could catch him, but just never made the leap. Good season everyone! If anyone is planning on leaving the league (which I hope so one does, because this seems like a great group!), can you let me know as soon as possible so I can work on replacement owners?
-
And congratulations to Kluber on the win.

Arbitration runs from mid-October to mid-November. Then the keeper deadline is at the end of January.

So I think I understand what to do now, really different league then what I have done before, but it's made me follow the game a little differently, which rules. No idea what the off-season will be like, next steps aren't until after the WS?

Just a reminder for everyone: auctions for players must be started by 11:59 PM EDT tonight for you to actually be able to acquire the player.

poor Yelich :( fractured knee cap from a foul ball :(

Jokes & sarcasm are so hard to read on printed text. I missed it for sure.

A poor attempt at humor. Obviously removing inning caps would ruin the game.

Removing innings caps would make the league about who can have the most starting pitchers on their roster.

I'm super confused by this. There is no option in Ottoneu to remove innings caps. Was this not an Ottoneu league?
-
Last year in my other league we had a guy who railed against inning caps. He left the league because we wouldn't agree to get rid of them. At the time we all thought he was nuts.
But now that I'm about to hit my innings cap, I see the wisdom of his position.

Which makes it so much harder with the new opener trend and having players switch between traditional starts or long early reliefs.
-
Yeah, you only get points for a SP if he starts, and a RP if he relieves.
-
on the 20th I had 7 SP starting! I tried to test whether I could get points from a SP/RP in a RP slot... and was sadly wrong :(
-
So many starters going yesterday I had to choose who to sit (never had that happen in ON before), glad I kept him in

82 points for Giolito today. That's one hell of a game.

With Carlos Correa headed to the IL, I'm in the market for a stopgap MI if anyone is interested in a trade.

Look at the auction results for Nick Madrigal. Our thinking is seriously aligned.

That's...not really how blisters work :-P
-
As a previous Sanchez owner, he's unfortunately always only 1 pitch away from a season ending blister.

I thought $11 was more than enough to get Aaron Sanchez. As a Mariners fan, I sure hope the Astros have transformed him. The alternative is that the M's lineup belongs in Tacoma.

Snell is on the block for a pitching package that puts me over the top this season. Send offers.
-
Contenders, I'd still like to move the boomstick, Nelson Cruz. Averaging over 7.5 ppg. Looking for meaningful prospects. I could also package Cruz along with a lesser prospect for a top prospect.
-
Thanks! Appreciate it!
-
You should have him back, for $10. Let me know if it isn't right.
-
I'm ok with it. And I can't see any big objections given that it's not going to impact the standings. Let me try and fix it.
-
I donโt know if itโs possible or not, but I donโt have any issue with having it fixed if it is possible.
-
There's no way to reverse that? Total fat fingered it on mobile
-
Ugh didn't mean to cut Peralta :(. Didn't see he was checked
-
For the record, I donโt have any objections to acquiring cap space and donโt feel strongly either way on the Skaggs proposal, just found it funny
-
The irony that the person who balked at this has $634 of cap space (albeit fairly) is quite humorous to me.
-
I appreciate the gesture guys, but his cap hit is only $5 at this point, and I have the space to be able to deal with that.
-
And what take away his points for the year too?

That is appropriate, I second the suggestion.

In my other league we wiped out the salary-cap penalty for cutting Skaggs. Any interest in doing the same here?

saddest roster cut in otto history

oh dang, sorry to those who messaged me over the last 6 weeks. I dont know why I didnt see them, but im still here! my trade block shall be updated shortly

Props to Kluber who built a great team and had prospects to strengthen his final push. Hell he got $90 + in guys who haven't scored him a point yet. Sometimes those big trades work and sometimes it doesn't. The league longevity is a tricky thing but it is pretty hard to have a competitive team and top young assets to complete the team. This seems pretty common in other leagues, but usually happens a little later around the deadline. Then teams can also become buyers and it creates a good market.
-
oh man, posted all that in a hurry and didn't realize, too many characters. 2nd to last should have ended with "specifically bans salary caps north of a specific figure ($400, $425, whatever we want)..." I'm not adamant about it but if others wanted to I'd probably be interested.
-
No hard feelings at all, just felt like it was a big comment that warranted discussion. I've been too busy for the last month to jump in until now. I expect I'm in the minority with many of my views.
-
Also, this part: "The amount of salary cap space a team has or will get should have no bearing on a veto IMO..." I don't agree. I enjoy the strategy of managing the salary cap, and getting a loan feels like a "do-over" that takes the competitiveness/excitement out of it. If a team is getting a huge loan, that absolutely should go into my decision of whether to veto or not. That's my opinion. Also, if some feel the same, we could make a future league that specifically bans sa
-
In particular this sentence: "I have no problem with a team accumulating incoming loans in future value for present value trades." I think many/most people on Ottoneu agree. I would agree too, if we were locked into our leagues for like 10 years. But we're not. So I'm NOT a fan of these trades, because new owners can come into leagues, strip mine the team for one year of contention, then move on to another league, leaving a smoking ruin behind. We should have to live with our decisions
-
I wanted to respond to something Danger posted on May 16: "I am not sure what it means for a trade to be "fair" to the rest of the league. In any case, Kluber is not the only team with a payroll over $400. Loans are a part of the game and used to facilitate rebuilding trades. I have no problem with a team accumulating incoming loans in future value for present value trades. The amount of salary cap space a team has or will get should have no bearing on a veto IMO..."

Rizzo is very available, and others too, looking for high end prospects.

I got a -55 from Craig Stammen the other day. He recorded 2 outs.
