Because nobody brought it up before?
-
Presumably, we would now need to have a vote on all of the parameters of the rule.but, I'm going to guess that you're going to not put that to a vote, make it up as you go along, picking and choosing when to do a vote and when not to in order to fit your own agenda and facilitate your and Arsenal's personal attack and agenda against me.
-
But why are we voting on the last week of the season???????????
-
You guys do realize I didn't "impose" or "create" a rule? I asked the league to vote on interpreting the rules defined on the site, which the site creator admitted was a gray area and directed me to do as the best course of action.
-
And...oh, by the way...to No Cigar's point about this being ad hoc BS, in your blind ill conceived rush to vote as a personal attack on me by you and Arsenal, you forgot to discuss any time frames, actions to be taken, etc. So, congrats, you have a new rule with no parameters.
-
Don’t act like this is all Raghav’s fault. The vote didn’t go your way. A number of other managers voted that we thought you broke the rules. *I* think you broke the rules.
It’s like 1 pitcher you need to add. Drop 1 of your 20 prospects, add a reliever, and be done with it.
-
I would point to Cole World’s comment above which I think seems to represent how most of the league feels: you need to start 5 eligible RP, and Arsenal needs to stop calling people Nazis. If you think he should be penalized for that, I respect that. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to take your penalty if that’s how the league voted.
-
This is really draining the fun out of the league but I do think this last week rule imposition is bullshit and makes me question if I would want to continue in a league run this way.
-
Prove me wrong and advise Arsenal that his team will be abandoned at the end of the season based on his personal anti-Semitic attack on me for no reason for which he has refused to apologize for in private or on this board or explain himself. Instead, you're letting him get away with it? Why is that? Why is your ill0timed rule change so much more important than his attack on me? Do you share his views? Do you agree with what he said? Are you working with him?
-
3) I am not the internet police, and I won't be. If members of the league continue to engage in unacceptable vitriol, as I said, the rest of the league needs to come together and make the vote to find a replacement.
-
Common sense disctates that you as the "Commissioner" would address Arsenal immediately and the rule change in the off-season. The fact you have done the complete opposite and want to impose an ad hoc change at the end of the season when it does not matter shows a clear bias and separate personal bias and agenda.
-
1) I have a vote, just like anyone else. I'm allowed to share my thoughts. You had made your position clear well before I said anything - is that also "influencing"? Obviously not.
2) Niv's feedback is that it is open to interpretation and that the league should decide amongst itself. The issue was raised repeatedly by more than one person and ignoring it may have suited you and others, but as commish I had to try to address it. Option 1 was to do nothing, and that option lost
-
Not to mention that if you are going to have a rule change, you should want to include, you know, your owners for the upcoming season, especially if they are taking over teams. I'm sure they would want a say. Seems pretty clear this entire effort is biased, aimed at me personally and that you are working with Arsenal, which is why you won't take any action or even demand that he explain himself. Itstead, you want to put that off despite multiple other owners commenting that he should be gone.
-
VV, First, you need to address Arsenal. This entire vote is a farce. You intentionally influenced the vote by providing your opinion when there was no reason to do so. There also was no reason to rush it since you shouldn't have an in-season rule change, which this is absent a unanimous vote. You want to do it for next season, fine. Even your friend No Cigar commented that this ad hoc in BS is ridiculous.
-
I vote Option 3, which is thus the mathematical winner. OC, please fix your roster to have 5 non-60 IL RPs
-
I think anyone with common sense at this point would just delay the vote for the offseason. We literally are in the last regular season week. Like what does this even accomplish at this point. Now everyone go back to your lives and be happy.
-
Fair points...but...(1) when asked about rule 1a, the creator of the game never said my strategy was illegal and didnt affirm CW's "obvious" definition; (2)there had been no discussion on the community board regarding rule 1a for 5 years until Arsenal raised it so apparently no one else had a problem with the rule until Arsenal decided he.did; (3) Arsenal's trading me a 60 IL Severino for a healthy Morton on the 8th & then having a problem with my roster construction is hypocri

All this nonsense is going to fold the league. We have a month left. You have to start players who are actively playing. You shouldn't call someone a Nazi. I can't believe these are such difficult concepts. This is an online fantasy baseball league where hardly anyone even knows each other. Let's either choose to move on or fold up the tents.

Especially considering Arsenal started this and clearly did so for questionable (at best) reasons given his comments and lack of contrition or explanation while otherwise continuing to post here, the community board and make transactions.

Isn't this "vote" also be an offseson topic? Why does this vote get elevated to in-season when its not going to make any difference but calling people Nazi's for no reason and refusing to apologize can wait? I mean seriously? Really?!?!? Not to mention that if there are going to be new owners one way or the other, shouldn't those new owners be involved in the "vote" on rule interpretation? Wouldn't it make more sense to get all the teams renewed & have those 12 o

I don't condone the language, but I also don't want to be the internet police - a sisyphean task. This is fantasy sports and I’ve frankly seen worse, not to establish a race to the bottom - ultimately I think an ottoneu forum post was instructive - one league has a vote in the off season to uninvite managers. I enjoy the game and don’t want the league to fold for a lack of members as well. This is a topic for the offseason, and I’d like to focus on the rule interpretation. 4 guys left to vote.
-
Yeah you can’t be calling people Nazis. I am steadfastly anti calling people Nazis.
-
I’d like to propose getting rid of Arsenal if all that is true. As a fellow Jew not ok with that interaction. Dont fuckin throw Nazi comparisons willy nilly like that

The league vote is currently:
Option 1:

Option 2:
Option 3:
Arsenal BC
Clintonville Clippers
Artemis Agrotera
Lake Gage Loons
Option 4:

Obviously, this is much more serious than RP slots. I trust and expect the Commissionerand the rest of the league will address this appropriately
Arsenal paid for this season and he can finish it out. But his team should then be abandoned and put up for another owner to claim.
-
My team is named OC Twins for my twin Jewish daughters. I think calling anyone a Nazi for any reason is a problem, much less in the context of fantasy baseball. But as the father to two Jewish girls, it is particularly offensive and hateful.
-
Since then I have politely asked Arsenal for an apology and explanation on August 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 26. All of which show as having been read. During that same time frame, he has posted on the league message board, the commumessage board and taken part in making transactions as well So it's clear he has been around, read my messages and chosen to stand by his words instead of offering an apology and explanation.
-
I reported it to Niv, who apologized for me having to put up with this. This is why Niv was reviewing the message boards to try to figure out what prompted the attack and use of that kind of speech.
-
Arsenal not only doubled down on his prior message, he went to a whole other place in calling me a Nazi (see his message in full below)
I never apologize to Nazis

On August 8, Arsenal and I completed a trade of an my active Charlie Morton for his Luis Severino on the 60 day IL. Three days later he first raised the Rule 1a issue. On August 17, he followed up but named my team as violating Rule 1 a. He did not reference VV"s team also being in violation of Rule 1a under his interpretation of the rule. It seemed odd to me tion my team and not VV. If I didn't know better, I would have thought it was personal. A few days later, Arsenal made clear it was

I had hoped to resolve this privately with the owner in olved and have bent over backwards to do so. He, however, has chosen to stand by his hateful and concerning comments and ignored multiple polite requests for an apology and an explanation. It relates to the current "vote" so it needs to put in the open so each person in this league can make their choice of who they stand with.

Ok, so there are only active players and players on some sort of IL by this definition, right?
-
In re active:
Option 2 would require a player to fill every lineup spot, and they can be on IL .
Option 3 an active player would be any with the position designation and not on 60IL in option 3.
Option 4 would be the same, but the player cannot be on any form of IL.
-
Option 3
-
How is "active" defined?
-
We have 4 options as I see it.
1. Do nothing
2. Maintain 5 RP (as well as minimum for other lineup spots) on the roster irrespective of of IL status
3. Maintain “active” players on the roster for all lineup spots, and these players must be (non 60-IL)
4. Maintain “active” players on the roster for all lineup spots, and these players must be (non any IL)
Please vote for one of the above

And...now back to baseball...If any contenders need a bat for the final push and/or the playoffs, send me your offers for Alex Bregman. Thank you.

Thank you LGL. Very reasonable points. To your 1st point, I'm not even last in IP. I'm 126 ahead of VV and 36.2 ahead of CC and 74 behind CW. So unless you're going to say that all 4 teams did not pitch a reasonable number of innings, then there shouldn't be a problem. As to your 2nd pt., if this is REALLY that big of an issue to everyone, then it should be resolved in the off-season, not in the middle of the last week of the pre-playoffs schedule.
-
His not huge lol

The bottom of huge post:
“As such, an absolutist requirement for 5 “RP” is less meaningful than pursuing a reasonable number of innings from a pitching staff as whole, as @chy924 mentioned.”
Which raises two points: 1, are you pursuing a reasonable number of innings for your staff as a whole? And 2, that this is not a cut and dried issue. The biggest point Niv has made is that the rules are ambiguous intentionally and it’s incumbent on the managers to resolve those ambi

Hi,
There are numerous threads about this question in the forums. Here is an easy to find one:
https://community.ottoneu.com/t/debating-rule-1a-in-ottoneu-baseball/126
You should set expectations with your league going forward on if your league wants to consider this a violation of rule 1a or not. Each league has a different tolerance for this and the best thing you can do is make a decision as a group about what is ok and what isn't and what the penalty should be
-
Why healthy? Because the Preamble also states that the first goal of the constitution (how very fancy of Ottoneu!) is to "create an environment that somewhat mirrors that of actual baseball". I dunno about ya'll, but I've yet to watch a baseball game where a team trotted out a bunch of injured players on the mound or into the batter's box. If ya'll want to play in a league where starting lineups are purposefully populated by inactive players, that's your prerogative, but I'd prefer oth
