On the other hand this vote similarly reminds me of when NATO and USA were considering Ukraine's entry, and all it achieved was pissing off Russia and in the end Ukraine was not even taken in. Similarly here we had a pointless vote and all it did was set someone off who felt personally attacked by it. What did you achieve? What did the league achieve? Nothing. No foresight or anything.

Jews didn't get this far by complaining and being whinny, OC, so cut the shit man

If this shit from OC continues I am out next year, who the hell needs their Email spammed by some man child.

Day 7 since our esteemed Commish was notified of Arsenal's anti-Semitic orrsonal attack and no action has been taken against Arsenal.

All of you need to stop. This is so damn annoying.
Worst league ever. Everyone STFU with this crap. It doesn't matter. Grow up.

Our esteemed Commish said:. " It’s going to be the playoffs and the guys who are in contention deserve to compete (and win) without distraction."
So you're saying with full knowledge of what Arsenal did and has never apologized for or explained himself, he "deserve[s] to compete (and win) without distraction?". Really?? God forbid the guy making anti-Semitic attacks be distracted. SMH
-
VV said, "If I had imposed a penalty, you would have cried foul that I decided it absolutely, and once again, run out the clock on the season." You're right on the first part because everyone should know the penalties are. The issue is that if you were going to change/create a new rule, the penalty should have been part of the vote. It's thinking it all the way through as the Commissioner (or anyone) should before putting anything up for a vote. And I didn't "run out the clock&qu
-
The esteemed Commissioner said: "OC, this fantasy league isn’t predicated on penalties. Its predicated on gentlemanly behavior, and you have displayed a scant amount." Really? Have I called anyone names? No. But since you bring it up, VV, exactly what "gentlemanly behavior" (your words, not mine) has Arsenal displayed? But yet you choose to pick on me defending myself and arguing/begging you to do something about Arsenal's VERY ungentlemanly behavior to which I get a shoul
-
With that, I'll stand by my prediction that some excuse will ultimately be given and Arsenal will be given a pass on this. Now back to the rebuild.
-
And for the record, as I understand the "meaningless" (VV's word, not my word for it) rule, my roster is now in full compliance. And, not only did I manage to do it without cutting a meaningful prospect, I even managed to add one. LOL The rule was never the problem. The fact is was "meaningless" and was given priority over Arsenal's attack is and always has been the problem, for the record.
-
As to the rule, after the vote on the rule, VV said on August 30d, "I do agree it is meaningless at this point, considering OC probably won't make any attempt to fix it in the next 5 days, and even if he did, the auction schedule probably wouldn't be enough for him to do so."
So, you acknowledge the rule you rushed to have a vote on was "meaningless", your words, not mine. A "meaningless" rule took priority over Arsenal's direct hateful attack on anot

Re: Penalties...Actually, this is what Niv said in one of your posts: "You should set expectations with your league going forward on if your league wants to consider this a violation of rule 1a or not. Each league has a different tolerance for this and the best thing you can do is make a decision as a group about what is ok and what isn't and what the penalty should be." So according to the founder of the game, a penalty was required. Not my words, Niv's words.

For anybody as tired as I am of all this bullshit - not you Raghav, I echo the attaboys already given here - you can uncheck the “new message on message board” option in email preferences. That’s what I did.

OC, this fantasy league isn’t predicated on penalties. Its predicated on gentlemanly behavior, and you have displayed a scant amount. If I had imposed a penalty, you would have cried foul that I decided it absolutely, and once again, run out the clock on the season. You are killing the fun of FANTASY baseball. Please stop. You are the one posting diatribe after diatribe, making demands of others behavior, while objecting to simple and decent conformation with the league’s wishes.

You've spent your time focused on me as the bad actor here and not the person who by your own admission now made an "undeserved slur" directed at me personally and has refused to apologize or explain himself both privately and now once I disclosed this to everyone. How about you focus on the REAL bad actor here, Arsenal?
-
Instead of debating this, just call out Arsenal. Again, none of this would be going on if Arsenal had responded to me when I politely tried to resolve it with him. His refusal to do so forced my hand and I expected, apparently incorrectly, that you as the Commissioner would take "concrete action" on that. But, no, its all deflect, deflect, deflect, stall, stall, stall. Even if I give you "concrete action" on the rule, it does not explain the refusal to take "concrete

I have done nothing but establish league consensus to a rule question that came up late in the season and done it as expeditiously as I could. In the same fashion that a rule interpretation, the league must opine on ownership. Both of you paid for the season, and despite your opinion, maintaining managers is a question for the offseason. Take it up with Niv and tell me if I’m wrong
Vestal Virgins on

No, it's not concrete action because what does your rule say about what happens if I don't comply? Nothing. So you've made a rule change without spelling out any penalties or consequences, which, obviously need to be provided in advance. In fact, when I raised this earlier, your response was because no one brought it up. Your the Commissioner pushing to make the rule change. Shouldn't the penalty have been part of the vote? Shouldn't people know in advance?
-
OC, remember when I said a literal week to comply (with what was the eventual winning vote)? That is concrete action, to which you objected to, raised a red herring to that rule interpretation, and ran out the clock on the season rendering it moot. You must think I fell off the turnip truck yesterday. You were the subject of an undeserved slur, then accused me of the same, losing any moral high ground. What really grinds your gears? I would guess its Lindsay Lohan (Family Guy reference).

NC -- Don't believe I've made any such claim. Being Jewish, I'm sure you would understand that that type of attack is not just about "huring my feelings". Anyone here thinks this is about "huring my feelings", does not understand. If it was just about that, presumably Arsenal would have apologized/explained himself. It's also why prioritizing a rule change that was unnecessary to do the last week of the season over addressing this is so troubling.
-
So what am I supposed to think when you prioritze Arsenal's initial complaint that he clearly had personal agenda for over what I"ve proven is offensive conduct and a direct attack by Arsenal? Why not call Arsenal out now and demand he explain himself. Give him 3 days to do so or he loses his team at the end of tthe season? It "boggles the mind" to use your term that you would prioritze a worthless rule change that is appropriate to addess in the off-season over Arsenal's impro
-
The justification is that despite other owners besides myself telling you there was NO reason to push through a rule change in the last week of the season, much less one you had not thought all the way through and that this should not done during the season, you chose to do it anyway while ignoring what Arsenal did because you don't want to be the "internet police", which this actually isn't because this was a direct attack on me, which again other owners have acknowledged as well.
-
OC, I would and will handle it the same way. Feel free to fire away with your social experiment. You’ve already made numerous accusations of “agendas” and support of insensitive remarks on my part without any justification, and in the process, tacitly implied I am somehow bigoted. It beggars belief how you are able to make demands that things be done your way, or that otherwise there is a conspiracy against you. In the immortal words of Wayne’s World - “Comon, Garth, relax, all right?”

Alamenda Trick Cards...I could fire back but I'm not going to waste my time. It begs the question though if I did fire back and used a derogatory and hurtful name or reference towards you as Arsenal did towards me, would our esteemed Commissioner ignore that too or would he push for a vote about abandoning my team all the while continuing to look the other way on Arsenal. I'm tempted to do it as a social experiment, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer.
-
Raghav's a good guy and a friend. You don't know him, at all, OC. I find it interesting you're willing to talk shit about someone you don't know, while also complaining about someone using language to hurt your feelings. And FWIW, I'm Jewish, so don't even try to accuse me of being some goy who just doesn't understand.

Just watch...it's coming...We are going to get to the off-season and our esteemed Commissioner is going to come up with some excuse or reason why he has decided as Commissioner that Arsenal is staying without Arsenal ever having to answer for what he said.
-
Yet throughall of this, Arsenal stays silent. Remember, I reached out to him multiple times over a week's time asking for an apology and explanation before posting anything here. He read every message and then refused to respond. He's now ignored everything being said about him here but has made cut players as recently yesterday, so we know he's around. Arsenal's refusal to provide an apology and/or an explanation ratifies his conduct. VV's refusal to call him out, speaks volumes as well
-
I too think Raghav has been doing a terrible job as a commish, dating back to the very beginning of the year when what I like to call the Aaron Ashby Apocalypse occurred. I mean, just think how he cruelly and maliciously tried to deprive an owner of such an elite and ground-breaking player as Aaron Ashby, who this year… *checks stats* …oh wait, never mind
-
Wow, just reading through most of this. I felt that I did vote via email already, but I voted option 3. The offensive language used, I want no part of. There should be no place for that, but we can get to that in the offseason. This is fantasy baseball guys. It is supposed to be fun. I will say that I feel OC has every right to be very upset about the offensive comments that were made to him. As for the ruling, it came up then so we should handle it then. Just my two cents (that don't matter).

Personally, I think Raghav's done an excellent job as commish, and he's made sure this league is hella fun, at least IMO. It's a tough job being a fantasy commish! Fantasy leagues are never perfect, and it's always a good idea to expand & clarify how we want our league to operate. I'm grateful that Raghav's provided a space where everyone feels like they can speak up, even if it gets a little tense at times. So, a big thank you to Raghav and let's keep this fun league going!

This is getting out of hand. OC Twins, if you are so up in arms about Raghav and Arsenal’s conduct, then maybe another league is the right fit for you. Otherwise, let’s just finish out the season and we can discuss possible rule (and owner) changes in the offseason.

...So are you saying he has to continue to attack me for you to do something? And again, why wait for a vote? You didn't need to wait for a vote for your admitted worthless rule change.

VV said: "3) I am not the internet police, and I won't be. If members of the league continue to engage in unacceptable vitriol, as I said, the rest of the league needs to come together and make the vote to find a replacement."
No one is asking you to be the internet police, whatever that means. But this was a direct attack by meeages sent within this league. Also by saying if members "continue to engage in unacceptable vitriol", you appear to be condoning Arsen
-
VV said "2) Niv's feedback is that it is open to interpretation and that the league should decide amongst itself. The issue was raised repeatedly by more than one person and ignoring it may have suited you and others, but as commish I had to try to address it. Option 1 was to do nothing, and that option lost"
Yet Arsenal's hateful attack that multiple owners have said they have a problem with, you won't touch. A meaningless rule change is more important to you. That's wh
-
...if you don't like that, then quit being the Commissioner and you'll be free then to voice your thoughts as much as you like.
-
"1) I have a vote, just like anyone else. I'm allowed to share my thoughts. You had made your position clear well before I said anything - is that also "influencing"? Obviously not."
I'm not the Commissioner, you are. That means you have to remain neutral, which you did not. And, yes, that means you need to keep your opinion to yourself in this situation while the other owners who are not the Commissioner, like myself, are free to voice their opinions...
-
LGL said: "But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to take your penalty if that’s how the league voted."
Exactly what penalty are you referencing? The league never voted on a penalty because the Commisioner never thought of one. This is why it shouldn't have been rushed and call into question again why it was for which VV has never explained why he just didn't wait to the off-season to address it, Again, what exactly was the rush?
-
LGL said: "Don’t act like this is all Raghav’s fault. The vote didn’t go your way. A number of other managers voted that we thought you broke the rules. *I* think you broke the rules."
First, by your statement, you admit VV is at fault. And, as even VV admits, when asked, Niv never said I broke any rules. You may interpret it in such a way, but if the creator of the game gave us a big shoulder shrug when asked, you can't say I broke the rule. Niv never said I did.
-
VV said: "You guys do realize I didn't "impose" or "create" a rule?" I never said you imposed it. I said you pursued a worthless in-season change to further your and Arsenal's own personal agendas and ignored Arsenal (and by doing do condoned) Arsenal's hurtful and unnecessary attack on an owner in this league that you are supposed to treat fairly and equally. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be the Commissioner.
-
VV said, "Because nobody brought it up before?"
You're the Commissioner. If you're going to do an in-season rule change and put it up for a vote, it's your job to think it through and put the entire thing up for a vote.
-
So even if someone were to violate it, there is nothing set as to time frame to cure, consequences, etc. Why? Because he didn't care. He is just pushing his and Arsenal's own personal agendas.
-
By not doing anything about it, he is condoning the language and the sentiment. And why do we have to wait until the off-season on any action? We certainly didn't on a rule that VV has now admitted is "meaningless"? Or, he could call Arsenal out, tell him he needs to provide an apology and an explanation, but, instead, he's solely focused on me and a meaningless rule change for which there are no parameters.
-
Suddenly this issue that is pointless is of prime importance but he wants to ignore an owner in this league personally attacking another and making an anti-Semitic statment. It's not being the "internet police". This wasn't something Arsenal said on an Facebook, Twitter, etc. It was a direct message in the leage that VV is the Commissioner of. His prior language of "I don't condone the language..." is curious. He doesn't condone the language but actions speak louder than
-
LGL....You're missing the point...I don't care about how the vote came out. I never did. It's why I didh't vote. It's a farce that even VV now acknowledges. But it calls into question that the our esteemed Commish who abandoned the draft and railed about personal responsibility and paying attention while doing so, has largely ignored his team most of the year suddenly decided to get active on this issue at the exact time Arsenal attacked me and made an anit-Semitic statement.
-
Oh give me a break. You know what makes this game less fun? Finger pointing.
-
Curious if LGL has been feeling very strongly about this because I am playing OC Twins this week and we are separated by one game...
-
I do agree it is meaningless at this point, considering OC probably won't make any attempt to fix it in the next 5 days, and even if he did, the auction schedule probably wouldn't be enough for him to do so.
