What does, “RP spots must be taken by pitchers who are in the bullpen in MLB games” mean to you?
-
"All pitchers can be placed in either SP or RP positions on the lineup and roster organizer pages."
I also don't see a rule that says that you have to put IL players in an IL spot.
If we want to change the rule, then that's something for the offseason, not midseason.

Is a roster which has fewer than 5 major-league relievers a roster of 22 major-league players capable of filling out a starting lineup?
-
There's absolutely nothing in the rules saying that OC can't do what they're doing. He has every roster spot filled; none of his starting bats are on the IL, even. Re pitchers: "Which to me means 'healthy'" is not in the rules. Here's what the rules say: "All pitchers can be placed in either SP or RP positions on the lineup and roster organizer pages." OC's roster is legal. And we're not changing the rules midseason w/ad hoc bullshit. If we do, I'm gone.

And if you want to get technical, then yes, once the playoffs start, you can resume the circumvention.
-
The rules clearly state that "Each team shall during the regular season maintain a roster of 22 MLB players that can fill out a starting lineup", which to me means *healthy* players. Those players need to be 12 fielders (C thru Util) and 10 pitchers regardless of SP/RP assignation. Otherwise you can just stick 22 IL dudes into every slot, and then what's the point of the rule anyway?
So yea, Twins, IMHO you and all those other teams you mentioned in your other leagues are circumv
-
So...regardless of what Niv says, what's the "rule" once the playoffs start for the teams that did not make the playoffs and are no longer involved in games? Because if I have a "literal week" to "fix" anything, that means I'll have until the middle of Wk 20. So what can I do with my roster the following week when the playoffs start? Do I need to keep 5 relievers when I'm not involved in any games? I'd think not but I'm astonished that this has reached this point
-

A starting lineup consists of one slot at each infield position (catcher, first base, second base, third base, and shortstop), five outfielder slots, one additional middle infielder (second base or shortstop) slot, one additional hitter from any position (utility slot), five starting pitcher slots, and five relief pitcher slots.
-
Ditto Theo Epstein's Mentor. So long as folks are populating the roster so that it's full (meaning there's a player in each starting spot), then I'm cool with it. Rebuilding teams should have leeway, I think, if they're willing to spend the season building for next year.

I personally do not care.
-
No one seems to have a problem with it because they're active owners who are rebuilding, start and participate in auctions, make trades, offer trades, etc. Not sure why it's different here and this even got raised in the first place.
-
You might also want to include that there is not anything new, novel or unique here. In one league I'm in, a rebuilding team has 3 SPs and 4 RPs active plus 1 SP and 1 RP on the 60 day and 15 ILs respectively. In another league I'm in, a rebuilding team has 3 SPs and ZERO relievers total with no pitchers on the IL. And another team has 4 SP and 3 RP with no pitchers on the IL.
-
I can confirm that Niv looked through the league's message board last week due to another issue. So he would have seen Arsenal's original message for sure and did not mention it in his message back to me after his review.
-
I’ll include OC’s point to Niv. League, Please voice/vote on interpretation of this point as well
-
This is literally the message right above the pitcher line-up: "All pitchers can be placed in either SP or RP, regardless of eligibility." So it does not seem like you must have RPs in RP slots if you choose not to. You won't get points if the player you have in RP starts a game but the advisory itself says you can place pitchers in any open slot. They just have to pitch in that role to receive points. Makes sense since relievers starting games is common now is MLB.
-
Arsenal BC, you stasrted this, anything you would like to say?
-
To OC, please make the changes needed to have 5 RP within the next literal week, 60IL or otherwise while we wait on a vote/Niv’s input.
-
All, apologies for delay. OC Twins does not have the players for a starting lineup. He has one RP on IL, and none others. The site allows you to acquire players as long as you have an open spot, which 60 IL players enable. However, it is my understanding you must maintain personnel, 60IL or otherwise, to fill a valid starting lineup. Note that I have 3 starting RP, and two on 60 day IL. I would like to hold a league vote as to if 60 day IL players can satisfy the rule, and will ask Niv same.

Hey rebuilding teams! I wanna make a deal. Send me some offers.
-
Also wondering about the ruling on the rule 1a violation. But in other news - I am interested in moving a $42 Tatis if any rebuilding teams are interested in keeping him. Please send offers, as I could package him with some younger pieces for a player who can help make a push over the last month. Please don't make ridiculous offers, because I will most likely keep at that price.

Is there an exception to rule 1a (Each team shall during the regular season maintain a roster of 22 major-league players that can fill out a starting lineup) in this league?

Niv might tell you if you ask him on the Ottoneu Message Board but fair warning that he’s been known to bite peoples - read: my - head off.

why is Mike Soroka listed as retired?

I’ve seen it happen a few times that I move a player from the bench and it doesn’t seem to stick immediately, if that makes sense. But usually if I swap the players again it’ll work.

Somebody asked this on the board, unfortunately we’re still limited to 10. Here’s the quote from the rules:
“In regular season H2H games longer than one week (for example, the first matchup of the season and around the All-Star Break), the GS cap will be the same as it is for regular one week matchups.”
-
@Raghav, I think this current period is 7/18 - 7/31 due to All Star break. Dyou know, are we still limited to 10 pitching starts? Or do we get more since the period is longer?
