That’s a lot of auctions!
-
Can't wait!
-
Just a reminder that the draft is coming up this Fri! Good luck to you all

Welcome to the league Yoshi!
-
Hey guys, our new owner (Yoshi’s Story) has finished his cuts, so rosters are now finalized until the draft. Good luck!
-
All teams have now bought in for the 2021 season. I'll work with the new owner to make any cuts to BBZ's old team, otherwise we should be all set for our draft on Mar 19!

I'm not a party to the trade, so I don't feel strongly either way. But my preference would be to let the trade stand and just move on. Trying to do a 1-2 week redo of the keeper deadline would be an undue logistical nightmare for the commissioner. GC should be held harmless; all he did was make a great trade for his team.
-
However, I'm in agreement that all new owners must pay prior to making any transactions (trades, cuts, etc). I'll make that clear to anyone who joins from now on, and will reverse any transactions until they've paid.
-
One option is to reverse the trade, but then allow everyone a 1-2 weeks period to un-cut players, trade previously cut players, etc. All moves could be done through me as commish — but this doesn't seem like a very ideal solution. Given the trade in question passed with no vetos at the time, unless a large portion of the league objects in the next day or two, I think we should just move forward with teams as they are now.
-
The two trade in looking at them were no big deal. I initially thought that trades were made prior to the Jan 31 deadline. Since they were made in December and passed thu the league I retract that part of the motion. I would like to have a standing rule: if passed by the league that teams must pay for the upcoming year to avoid any future issue.
-
I’m 100% on board with making new owners pay prior to any transactions taking place. Having said that, I don’t think the trades made should be reversed. I was a part of one of them and like GC, developed a strategy around the players I acquired.
-
Generous, totally agree, moves should not be reversed because your off-season was based on making that trade. I do like Zod’s idea of requiring payment when claiming team, but may not be possible. Anyways, onwards and upwards, we got 11 great owners and will find another good one to take BBZ’s roster :)
-
Additionally, the claim at the time was that Bell and Cruz were clear cuts - also just a matter of perspective, not fact. I drafted Bell at $14 and Cruz at $1 in an Ottoneu auction literally last night, so they definitely have value to me. Everyone is welcome to go to my profile and look at the draft results (league: OttoNew) to confirm. :)
-
As far as the trade itself, completely respect Billboard's opinion on the merits but I'd like to point out it's not the only one. If you take a look at the auction values from BAT X (most accurate projection system last year I believe), it suggests the trade was even. Not saying that means it's the only truth, but that's one credible perspective.
-
The problem is the fact that Ottoneu doesn't make a new owner pay upon joining. I'd be in favor of making immediate payment a requirement for our league. In the absence of such a rule, I don't think you can apply extra scrutiny to a trade just because it's a new, unpaid owner. I took over 4 new Ottoneu teams this offseason and made maybe 20 trades before paying - would not have been happy if people told me it wasn't ok even though I was fully complying with the rules as they exist.
-
Agree the team should be put up as abandoned at this point. Unfortunate this happened and also uncomfortable for me in that it puts me in a position of having to "defend" a trade with a guy who disappeared, but I would not be in favor of reversing prior trades. This is not like a veto where I just go look for an alternative way to shore up my pitching staff. I based all my subsequent trade deadline activity (and non-activity) on the assumption that Lynn was in my rotation.
-
I only see two trades before Jan at this point if no payment has been made I motion we put the team up as abandoned.
-
I would like to ask the league that in the future any team claimed must be paid for before any cuts or trades can be made. Also if this guy has not paid I motion any moves be reversed and the team be listed as abandoned.
-
Thanks for the info. Sounds suspicious.
-
BBZ abandoned his team and was claimed by "Tyler Hamsmith". Who other than trading away the highest surplus guy on the roster for a marginal return has not paid his entry fee, made cuts, or generally been active. My problem with that trade was as much the lopsided nature as it was that it came from some random person with no stake, or established credibility here.
-
And Billboard Heroes said we had another owner on the Dec 21. Is this the guy who didn't make cuts?
-
BBZ posted a message on Dec 19th that he was leaving the league.
-
It's looking like I should have cut RP Hand. 🙁

He hasn't been on in a month and didn't make any cuts to get under the limit, I'd cut him.
-
Anyone know if BBZ is still playing? Or should we try to replace him?

Draft day and time is good for me.
-
I think the time works, I will make it work either way. Sorry i've been off communication, I have been on quarantine for teaching which has given me exponentially more work to do. Bad excuse, but I will be on non stop till the deadline if anyone wants to meet in the middle on some trades. It is all my fault lately.
-
Draft time fine with me as well.
-
Draft time ...fine with me ..
-
I'm good with the date/time.
-
Hey guys, I've set a tentative draft date of Friday, March 19 at 8 PM ET. Does that NOT work for anyone?

I'm flexible.

Yeah that was me. Eric

Still waiting on these teams to put down their draft date preferences: Komodo, Crosley, Kneel, BBZ, Gleyber, Witty. (One of you put your name down as Eric... Crosley?) Please update this soon so we can set aside a date where everyone's available!
-
Hey all ... for any of you degenerates out there I'm starting up a new Ottoneu league. Pretty much exact same setup as this one but with addition of 10-man MiLB rosters.
-
Hey everyone, please fill out this calendar ASAP. Enter your team name and select all dates where you COULD draft, and once we find a date (or two) that works for everyone, we can settle on an exact time. https://doodle.com/poll/665p45g76eeg73by?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link

I just bumped up the league to the $100 tier, so please re-up for 2021 when you get the chance (deadline is Jan 31). In the next week or two I'll also send something out so we can find a draft time that works for everybody. Happy holidays!

I'm totally confused, everyone have a very Merry Christmas..Be ready for a rocking next season... Dougie
-
So is Lance Lynn still available....
-
Oooffff...if I get a 4.32 ERA out of him I’m going to wish you had vetoed :)
-
FWIW, I traded a $6 Lynn in a FGPts league at the deadline so I'm not all that high on him. I think that you can make a pretty good case for a decline coming in 2021 as his 2020 ERA was supported by a high 79% LOB% (that isn't supported by his 26% K%) and low BABIP (.242). He's going to a HR friendly park too, so that ~40% FB% is going to mean more HR allowed. I've got him projected at 4.32 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 9.1 K/9, so definitely solid but not a superstar. I'm not voting to veto.
-
Appreciate the back and forth BH, just trying to come from a different perspective. For me it's floor vs ceiling, Lynn is rock solid and is a much better bet to outperform his price but I believe Bell has the higher ceiling. I can't say I would've made the deal if I had the newbie's team but I definitely don't feel this is veto worthy.
-
Going to bed ... suspect I will resume this in the morning :) 😝
-
Flags, yes that ADP is redraft. I get how someone can be high on Bell, but that doesn’t mean you trade your piece with the most surplus value on your roster. You can either get him at the auction or for a marginal piece. He’s also 28 and has only ever had one good year.
-
Yoda... I have the same opinion on vetos so something would have to be extremely lopsided for me to feel this way. On top of which, the trade is a by a day old owner
-
But if you value Bell at $20 (for example), then you have $20+2x6=$32. With an $18 Taylor, then it's a package worth $50 plus Cruz vs $54. So really hinges on how you value Bell, I think.
-
Is that ADP for redraft? If Bell even comes close to 2019 production over the next couple years then this trade quickly swings the other way. Bell is not an automatic cut for me at $14 and Cruz is worth a flier for $2. I've never been a fan of Frazier and think an ADP of 174 is silly. He won't start unless there is an injury and he hasn't struck me as someone to get excited about as he isn't great at anything. Lynn has a lot of surplus value at his cost but no one can defeat Father Time.
-
FWIW, I think it's a bad trade, but I'm not sure it's veto-worthy (I usually only veto when there's clear evidence of colussion). For the offseason, I assign trade value as their Overall Value plus 2xSurplus Value. I've got Lynn at $14 in value, so a $24 asset ($14+2x5). I've got Frazier at $12 (so $9 surplus), which yields $30 asset and so $54 in trade value. Bell is at $11, so $11-2x3=$5. Taylor's at $8 (so $18). So $54 vs $13 plus Cruz. IDK, I wouldn't have done it but not veto-worthy, IMHO.
-
If you want to frame this in terms of 2020 that's fine, and I think that makes the trade more ridiculous. Current ADP Lynn - 63 + Frazier - 174 for Bell - 178, Taylor - 221, Cruz - 763. Generous gets the best two players in the deal, and they are on better contracts. Again, from my perspective, Frazier and Lynn both have surplus value (Lynn significant) while Bell/Cruz are cuts.
