I think it's strange too. He was very active for a while, and over the last month or two it says he's been visiting the site every day or two, but didn't respond to any of my reminders about arbitration or questions about whether he wanted to keep his team moving forward.

It’s weird because he would participate pretty regularly in spurts last season but I would agree he’s MIA too often. But like Billboard said his team is pretty solid, similar to Gleybers roster last year. IMO it’s better to try and get an active owner if the majority feels comfortable booting someone out. I’d be down to find a new owner.
-
Can I take over his team lol?
-
I think we should look to replace Prospectus Maximus in the next few weeks. Would be nice to give a new owner some time to make trades/etc before the keeper deadline. Anyone opposed to this? Or know anyone who might be interested in joining?

Anyone heard from Prospectus Maximus? I've been seeing him log in regularly, but he's the last one we're waiting on for arbitration and hasn't responded to my last DM reminder
-
Hi All! Glad to be joining the league and looking forward to interacting with you all in the future! New to ottoneu but not new to fantasy baseball. Excited to finally give this a whirl as I have heard many good things about it. After we get through arbitration, I will be updating the trade block and am always willing to talk trades!

Welcome to the league Shubes!

Welcome to the league, Shubes! We should have a full league heading into next season, and a quick reminder to pay for the upcoming season when you get a chance.

Welcome to the league, Shubes!

good call, I just spoke with him and he's indeed out for next year. I've abandoned his team, so it should be available to new owners. let's see if we can get someone new to fill in ASAP!

Hey commish...are we gonna look to replace Gleyber Day? They haven't logged in for 2 1/2 months. It'd be good to have the new owner get to do arb.
-
The season is over, sigh. 🙁
-
We couldn't have had a more different final week Generous, I literally ran out of gas. Congrats on the win! This was a really fun season everyone, thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to the offseason.
-
Congrats Generous … another very well deserved title.
-
I don’t want to take a victory lap with a day of games left, but thanks very much guys! Great season everyone and especially Yoshi, who pushed me hard into the last week. I was lucky to have my bats wake up at the right time in September.
-
Congratulations Generous!
-
Congrats on the title GC! Well deserved...
-
Unless you need the cap space to pick up more players for next year, it might be in your long term interest to keep guys and cut them after arb. Otherwise you may be ditching good players for other teams to pick up at a discount right now while only a few teams have the cap flexibility to place competitive bids

I'm rebuilding for the next few years. I will probably be cutting more older players in the days ahead. They may be of help to the contenders above me in the standings.

We had a team from one of my other leagues quit playing so there is an opening if anyone is interested. Here is the link to the abandoned team. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/1222/team?team=8766

I'm enjoying the competition in this league.
-
Sorry, should have said “I’m in another league with Flags and Zod”…didn’t mean to overlook the defending champ in that league!
-
Ottoneu loans are just a mechanism to facilitate mutually beneficial swaps of present value for future value. I’m in another league with Flags where I took over a crappy team and have literally loaned out half my cap (almost $200) to load up on young talent. Used well, loans should be as valuable a tool for rebuilding teams as they are for contenders. I don’t see them as inherently good or bad…like most things, it just depends on how they’re used.
-
Re: Winker’s post…if the concern is collusion, that’s not specific to Ottoneu, it’s a potential concern in any fantasy league. We have a trade voting mechanism to address that. If the concern is non-contenders moving all their stars to contenders, that’s also not specific to Ottoneu, it’s a feature of almost any keeper or dynasty league, whether cap-based or not.
-
I’d think of it as your draft/FAAB budget. In a salary cap league with no retained money it would be very hard to make trades. It also allows a rebuilding team to speed up their rebuild by “buying” better keepers. I do know that this issue is pervasive to Ottoneu, and I do know some leagues that have rules about how many dollars in loans you can get, so you could propose that rule change to the league in the off-season.
-
What's the purpose of having a $400 salary cap if people are continuing making outgoing loans. What keeps me from adding another team and moving my good players from one team to another before the deadline? I'm not actually accusing any one of doing this, but ....
-
Fwiw I was pretty jealous of the trade, I think the prospect of Ozuna maybe seeing more time off through 2022 is what makes it so jarring at first. Given the salaries of the players going to Yoda I don't feel like there are any negative league changing impacts, that being said it'll definitely make catching him in a few categories that much harder. Thanks for starting the conversation Flags it's always good to know where people's heads are at when a wonky trade like this happens.
-
Bad dude. O’Neil Cruz and Trevor Bauer probably bad dudes. Tyreeke hill in fantasy football, bad dude. Lists can continue on. No issues with any questions raised. Ppl can continue discussing it if they want.
-
I have no doubt PM is trying to strengthen for next year so I don’t have a problem. I don’t think one would have to lean on morality to explain the questioning though - I definitely share Flags’ view that it’s an incredibly light return for even this diminished version of Yelich, and I think the recent Ottoneu trades for Yelich suggest the same (note there aren’t any recent Ozuna trades, which tells you something). It was surprising to me, but I agree it’s a tough market for rentals so I get it.
-
Think the baseball side makes perfect sense. Can see an argument for all three guys being cuts in offseason. Market for rentals is pretty light right now. If Ozuna plays next year, he has more surplus than any other piece moving from a contender. Maybe the issue is how you feel morally about profiting off some who is probably? possibly? a bad dude. I'm not sure how I feel, but I would also note guys like Aroldis Chapman, Domingo German, Julio Urias, Alex Verdugo, etc. are all universally owned.
-
Honestly I meant to add another prospect on there. Don’t see the outrage. Brantley and yelich are drops. I have offered Chapman to like 8 teams in this league and the market said it wasn’t much. So I traded 3 players I wouldn’t keep for a player at $9 since he had all the felony charges dropped. My roster is full of good players on good contracts. I think I’m wel positioned. I will not win 6th place this year, but here is hoping for 2022.
-
I picked Ozuna up for $9 because I saw a chance that he escapes serious punishment. PM and I are hardly alone in that view. Ymmv.
-
I'll leave it to PM to explain his thought process. I'll just note that he offered the trade this afternoon out of the blue and there were no negotiations. I was surprised by the offer but surmised that he really liked Ozuna and didn't regard any of the three guys as keepers at their respective salaries (I share that assessment).
Fwiw, I posted it on Reddit and at least one person advised against me taking it. Really depends on one's view of the likelihood of an Ozuna suspension...
-
Guess I'll be that guy...I'd like to hear the thought process on this trade. Giving up just one of those guys would be an overpay imo for a guy that more than likely is going to prison. To give up 3 valuable players, one of whom is a former mvp who is heating up at the plate seems...strange.
-
:)
-
For what it’s worth, I’m pretty happy with the Wheeler trade…
-
I made one trade I should not have. I should of not traded Wheeler for Adolis Garcia. My pitching has really tanked. Another trade I should have made, but didn’t, Eddie Rosario for Ryan Presley. I’m not giving up though.
-
Mr. Yoda, sent you a few messages but not sure if you've seen the notifications.
-
LOL. He's been on quite a tear. I don't know that I have seen anything quite like it since Sosa hit 20 HR in June 1998.
-
Yoda, since you outbid me by a $1 on Schwarber he's only hit 15 HRs in 29 games. I only think about that about twice a day ... :)
-
he's available!
-
I probably should have held onto Hiura, but I was lacking patience in him. I also needed cap room.
-
I need a closer.
-
The pitching has been as good as the hitting has been bad! Not entirely sure what to make of this start to the season.
-
Generous, how do you have a team WHIP of 0.86 through 128 innings? That is wild!
-
Darvish on the block, looking to get a power bat in return. Let me know if you're interested.
-
Gallen, Voit, Mondessi, and Eloy all on IL....I must be doing something right.
-
Opening Day! Here we go all!
-
And so it begins...RIP Kirby
