Hey, yep you've got that all correct, so your roster's now in the clear to do whatever ya want before the keeper deadline on 1/31
-
Since I'm new to this, I just want to make sure I'm clear. We have from now until the keeper deadline to cut and trade players, and our salary can be over the salary cap right up until keeper deadline, right?

Looks like the salaries went up like 30 minutes ago so please make your cuts and then we’ll be open for business!

yep yep, last few days to fine tune your arb bids and then the 'winter meetings' begin! If Bryce Harper signs with the White Sox I'm gonna need to clear $400 in cap space for the upcoming draft. The hot stove is alive: https://imgur.com/a/PXZIhfK

The 1st MLB trade of the season has broken the ice! Here's to a lot more action in the coming weeks! Hopefully that spurs some action here, once arbitration ends, lol.

Yeah we'll keep it at the $50 tier, no worries. Thanks everyone!
-
Late enough that it may be irrelevant, but I have a slight preference for $50. Partially because I'm also a rookie here, partially because the prize leagues are more about having the incentive to keep all of us engaged, not the actual $. Also, it's not like we'd get more money by moving to $75. It looks like we're paying in an additional $300 and getting an additional $275 in prizes (200+100+50 = 350, 400+150+75 = 625).
-
Thanks for the quick responses, 2/5 dissent on bumping up a tier is probably enough for me to call it that we’ll stick to $50, just to be conservative and not price anybody out of a multi-year commitment. Plus after giving it another look the only benefit to the $75 tier is the allocation to first place, and while the cut that Ottoneu gets isn’t ideal, I don’t think anybody will be upset when they win the league. Can’t put a price on the little trophy icon you get on your team page!
-
So, welcome to all the new owners. Shout out to the Commish for keeping the communication flow and constant interaction with the league...Thank you and much appreciated.
In regards to $400 and 40 rule, I agree with keeping the rule until we can change the rule with the current league makeup after arb.
I vote to up the ante to $75.
-
I would rather bump up to the $75 tier. The percentage of prizes to fees paid by the league is better than the $50 tier.
-
Just from my situation, I can't technically win money from this site due to my state's (Washington) gambling laws so I'm somewhat opposed to increasing the tier amount. Changing the tier amount wouldn't change my desire to play by any means, just something to put out there
-
As an opposing viewpoint, I'm up for moving to $75. I'm feeling flush with last seasons winning though...
-
Thank you for the clarification on the cap rule.
I did join this league knowing it was $50, so I'd like to stick with that. When looking for a league I was hoping for a $20 one since it's my first time playing and I'd like to learn before ponying up $75.
-
And finally, while you're all here, has anyone thought about bumping up to $75 entry fees due to the better prize pool (refer to my e-mail a few weeks ago)? This will be our one and only chance to change the tier we're in, so speak now if you want us to vote on it or forever hold your peace :)

I know there's been some block updates, which is fine, but just keep in mind you will need to reduce your roster/salary to $400/40 BEFORE any trading can occur in our upcoming trading period. We can discuss changing this rule next season, but since there have already been some big names dropped, I think we need to stick to it this offseason. Once you cut your salary down to $400 or less you ARE allowed to go back over $400 until the keeper deadline. Holla if there are any questions, thanks!
-
Hi all! just wanted to send a reminder of a rule tweak we have here: After the Arbitration Allocation deadline, trading is opened until the keeper deadline. *Prior to offseason trading in the trading period, teams must reduce their salary to $400 or less, and their roster to 40 or less. This is a required step prior to discussing any trades or trading block updates, and the commissioner(s) reserve the right to void accepted trades if this rule is not followed.*

haha all in good fun, $3 Soto was good while it lasted!
-
Ah, but isn't that the point of arbitration? To bring the players who were steals up to costs more to where they should be? ;)
-
I can already tell this league is going to be a blast!

And also a heads up that you can allocate $1-$3 per team in arbitration, you all don't have to hammer me with $3 just because Juan Soto was the steal of the draft last year!! But I'm biding my time ready to bring the thunder with my $25
-
Friendly heads up to all new folk (and reminder to the old folk as well) that you can update your email preferences by going to your ottoneu profile page @ https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/user/(whatever your username is) . My personal preference is to have all notifications on, but at the bare minimum i'd recommend Auction Started, Trade Proposed, New Message on Message Board, and New Message in Inbox. You can always adjust later!

Nice, welcome aboard! 'Perfectos' can only go up from here :)

Welcome x393 and Groundout - Last year was a fun year, looking forward to another great season. Let's all remember what an awesome year Soto had ... +$$$$$- ;)!
-
Thank you! Looking forward to the league. I have celebrated my arrival by assigning arbitration $$ to all of your teams, which was a bunch of fun.
