I continue to lean towards voting no on a slow draft, but I want to understand the pros and cons better before making up my mind. I appreciate David taking the time to explain the nuances to us (and volunteering for the tedious task of entering every already-rostered player by hand!). I'm looking forward to seeing the real 670 slow draft in action starting on 2/7. Braden: I'm puzzled by your statement that this change would have affected your keeper decisions. How so?

Q1. How do we nominate players? What if a bunch of us nominate the same players?

I'm open to the Slow Draft idea however I feel like we are close to a date, the 23rd. It seems 10 guys are cool with that day and there are 3 international guys and I'm willing to go any time. With that said I will put together my Slow Draft questions.

Different strategies are required for a fast draft and a slow draft. You would be moving from this site to a different site. It would require a lot more overall time than my 2 new auctions combined. It has disadvantages to owners with lesser $ and would have affected keeper decisions.
-
Before making a final decision, I would feel better knowing that every owner in the league either wants to do it or doesn’t have an issue doing one.
-
After doing some research on slow drafts, I have warmed up to the idea because it solves the time zone issue. My only concern is that I don’t know how each owner feels about doing a slow draft. I see that there are a lot of owners who have said that they are willing to do one, but there are other owners who haven’t expressed an opinion either way. If any owner is not comfortable doing a slow draft, please explain why and I will do my best to address your concerns.
-
Again, just providing an option and info. It's likely a moot point, because I don't believe the commissioners are in favor of it, which is completely fine with me.
-
I'm well aware rosters don't auto import. They must be manually loaded. It also requires a paid account ($3 for a month) to set up the draft. I'm willing to pay for it and load the keepers. Regarding time, you're not sitting at the computer for days. You can set your bids in as little as 5 to 10 minutes per day versus sitting in a live draft for 3 to 4 hours. An auction could be 24 hours with a 6 or 8 hour reset. I'm not trying to convince anyone as much as provide an option and info.
-
Coming from someone with experience using the system, "Also, you have to set it up right where it doesn't just turn into eBay with all of the different time zones."
-
A new league doing a slow draft makes a lot more sense. You don't have to load rosters in and then export them out and then load the results back into Ottoneu. The example you sent showed some teams short of nominations while others not. That would also have to be enforceable at all times.
-
I don't think you understand that the rosters don't import themselves and export themselves between Ottoneu and Couch Managers. Someone has to do it. It takes time and I am told the commissioner doesn't want extra time commitments when I bring up the 41 man roster loophole enforcement (and that is with league help). Additionally, rather than 3-4 hours, it would take days. It would take longer to do one draft of just 183 max spots than the time it would take for me to do 2 totally new drafts.
-
I'm all in favor of slow draft. seems most reasonable considering our conflicting time zones/schedules

Works for me. Let’s get started
-
as long as it laid out on what time and what days im ok with the slow draft

I'm also cool with the slow draft setup.

I'm ok with slow draft options. It's really cool that this league has the world covered!
-
I might have to sit around for some time and drink lemonade before I get to spend that load of money. :-) It might take longer to load data back and forth between the systems than to have it on a Friday night. You must have a wild life if you can't make a Friday night to join the rest of us. :-) It certainly would take more than 3-4 hours of time to have it drawn out and on a different system. Not worth it for only a max of 183 players to be drafted.
-
I have a feeling it won't take too long to spend $15! I'll likely find a proxy for my team, as I can't spare 3 or 4 continuous hours to draft. Therefore, consider my schedule open.

Looks like so far there is 9 out of 9 for Friday, March 23.
-
If it is a Saturday, I can be flexible with time to try and accommodate for everyone. I prefer to knock it out in one shot rather than draw it out and be on a new system.
-
Mithril Hall: I'll bite on being a slow draft voyeur! Can you share a link or something so I/we can watch?

I'm in Japan and any time of day is good for me.

I entered my availability in the Doodle poll. This timezone thing could be a real challenge. Sounds like we now have Vietnam (x2), UK (right, Canseco Juice?), plus US coverage from the east cost to Hawaii. If I have my facts right, a noon EDT start would be midnight for Rusty and David and 6 a.m. for Tyler. Ugh! Seems to me like a Saturday would be best, and we might need to go earlier in March to find one that works.

If we could start before 8:00 PM EST, that would be most appreciated on my end as that would currently be 1:00 AM local time.

Same for me. I won't know details until earlier in March. But I will do my best to work with what the majority goes for

I put that I am available for each date, but I want to note that I only get my schedule two weeks in advance and it tends to vary. I'll keep everyone posted

Here’s the link (https://doodle.com/poll/93vde3t9p9q9w3xu) to the survey we will use to find a date for the auction draft. Based on last year, we can start the draft at 8:00 PM ET, but we can change it if that time doesn’t work for anyone. The survey is limited to the two weeks prior to opening day, but if we can’t find a day that works in that time frame we can extend the dates. Please fill it out by February 15th. Thanks.
