I will say, since we weren't able to assign eligible players to the MiLB and anyone on a roster last year is ineligible, we're looking at a small pool of players.

Sorry to be that guy.
-
So Mateo is out as well. This is not going well.
-
It is easy to miss, but basically any player that received a salary increase on October 7 is ineligible.
-
Kyle Tucker, same thing.
-
The following players are ineligible for the 5MiLB draft:
Unsigned (amateur or foreign) players
Players with MLB experience (1 PA or IP)
Any player that is currently owned by another team in the league
Any player with either a salary or cap penalty of ≥ $1 in the current season
Any player owned on a 40-man roster as of the final day of the prior season

you post your selection here, then it is confirmed that the player is eligible to be selected. To access the rosters, you copy/paste this link :https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aptS6RYqn4GuxaioQ8b8d-KDlZS6HCoLXWU4QJZRJHw/edit?usp=sharing
-
So we post picks on here for confirmation? Also how do I sync up with Google docs? Go to the link? Wasn't there also a link to help scout available players or are we on our own for that?

San Jose Predators's trade block has been updated!
-
Maitan confirmed, Gas House Gang is on the clock!

With the first pick in the MiLB draft I would like to take Kevin Maitan (ATL), please.

Turnips's trade block has been updated!

Swanson's Swan Song's trade block has been updated!

To make your selection, simply post your selection here on the message board, I will confirm that the pick is eligible, and we'll move to the next selection. With all of that said, tomorrow morning (Sunday) at 8am Eastern, Tatamagouche will be on the clock! Thanks everyone!
-
Located on the Google spreadsheet will be who is currently picking as well as the time they must select by. Please try to not take all 8 hours so this moves as quickly as possible. Until this is finished, no players meeting the below factors will be eligible to be claimed on waivers.
-
The following player types are ineligible to be drafted: Unsigned players (foreign or amateur), players with MLB experience (1 PA or IP), or anyone currently owned in the league. The draft will be a snake draft, going in the inverse of last year's finish. There is an 8 hour time limit to submit your selection to this board, if you miss your window your pick is skipped until the next owner makes their selection. The clock will pause over night from 11pm - 8am eastern.

Berkley's Army's trade block has been updated!

Also, we now move to the MiLB portion of our league. These players cost $0 for until called up to the majors, and will sit on a separate roster located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aptS6RYqn4GuxaioQ8b8d-KDlZS6HCoLXWU4QJZRJHw/edit#gid=0

Hi Everyone! Our draft has been finalized! Thanks to everyone for how quickly it moved. With that in mind, the auction has been closed and rosters are now able to be put into lineups, trades can happen, and the waiver wire is open!
-
Nothing near as long as last year's. I'd think what, 3ish hours at most?
-
How long will the draft take tonight? Just curious

That also works for me. So draft will be conducted on the message board, which actually works easier anyway for this purpose. The Google sheet will be updated here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aptS6RYqn4GuxaioQ8b8d-KDlZS6HCoLXWU4QJZRJHw/edit#gid=0 with each pick along with who is currently picking and the time their choice has to be in
-
I should correct that. It was an MiLB draft via the league message board. Which is sort of an e-mail draft, but everything had to be posted on the league message board for everyone to see (instead of CC'n everyone all the time).
-
We did an MiLB draft via e-mail in another league and it was successful. Every team had a 12 hour time limit to make a pick after the previous pick had been confirmed on the league message board by the commissioner. An online spreadsheet was made accessible for everyone to see the picks already made and everyone was pretty good about paying attention and nominating in a timely manner, helping out with players that were ineligible, and the like.
-
REMINDER! DRAFT IS TONIGHT AT 9PM EASTERN!!
-
Yeah I'm ok with email just like Swanson said though. Probably need to set a clock. And everyone needs to remember to hit reply all.

I have no issue with an email draft, just remember that no one meeting the eligibility requirements can be put up for auction until its conclusion. We need to decide how long someone has to make a selection until skipped for a pick. 5 hours? 8 hours? Clock stops from 11pm-7am est? It really should move quickly if people are paying attention.
-
I mean we have a couple weeks, so id be game for an email type draft. If it looks like we are going to run short on time, we can always designate a time to try and wrap it up one night.

I am good with email draft.
-
I would be open to the slow draft concept via email or slack.
-
Could we do the MiLB draft via email? Would help SJP out. Just a thought.
-
I think if you created a ranking list that you sent to the commish and one other person would be a good idea. Or we could try to find you a proxy drafter on Slack who you could send your list to and he could draft it.

We haven't really finalized the MiLB draft time. Looking at everything, it really makes sense to use Slack for that purpose as it will be quick and easy. 60 picks, couple minute timer for each pick but imagine most wouldn't take that long.
-
I hate to be the fly in the ointment, but I'm going to be very limited during the auction. I'm at spring training right now and am actually flying home Saturday night. My flight leaves at 11:15 pm est so I have a couple hours to make bids, but won't be able to resume until I can use my plane's Wi-Fi. Sunday night I'm not available for milb draft. Can I send a draft ranking list? Thought we were doing it Tuesday, which I am available. I'm more concerned about attending the milb draft
-
Alrighty. So 9 votes were received in the vote, thanks to those who voted. The tally was: 4 - I don't give a shit", 3 - Inverse order/snake, 1 - inverse order/straight, 1 - Random order/snake. So it appears we will move forward with Inverse Order/Snake draft with the MiLB draft taking place soon after the auction. If people could sneak an hour on Sunday night we could knock it out then...
-
It has been pointed out that I said an incorrect day of the week for the draft. It is SATURDAY March 18th, apologies for any confusion caused.
-
The poll can be found here: http://doodle.com/poll/yyianhw7pnwfx2ax
-
Alright, so first things first, love the discussion. Glad people care enough to discuss the changes. With the wide-ranging views, the best way to do this is through a simple vote. The following poll will be open for 24 hours from now unless all participants vote before that time. After these results are in, we'll have another 24 hour poll for the final two options. If one option is an overwhelming majority we will go with it. Please vote as soon as possible! Thank you!
-
If it's not in the interest of parity then I vote to randomize it
-
The MiLB 5 was not added to help "parity." I only suggested the reverse order snake draft because it solves the problem of "which draft order should we use when a 5-round draft inherently favors lower picks"?
-
Sorry, I just don't believe that there's enough built into a snake draft for the lower teams. It's only built in if you're starting from scratch across the board. When you have established teams, some obviously better than others, then the point of the minor league draft would be to aid those teams with the non-snake advantage. If the point of the minor's draft isn't to help the lower teams then I would by all means change my vote back for the random order. So what is its ultimate purpose?
-
I'm in favor of the reverse order standings snake for he draft. Should have said that first.
Also just so everyone remembers we are talking about this draft after the auction. So there will be prospects already kept. And for a prospect to qualify for 5 MiLB they can't have played in the majors. So that's going to knock out a lot of the top prospects.
