Second, leave room for the fact that others might not agree with your roster philosophy. Post-Hype, who we haven't heard from, might view Trout at $57 (and more likely mid $60s next year after inflation & arbitration) as too much. I know some folks say that Trout at $70 is justifiable, but that's not how everyone wants to construct their roster. Could he have gotten more for him by shopping? Sure. Might that be a mistake? Maybe. Veto-able? I don't know. Vote as you wish but there are two
-
OK everyone -- let's take a step back from the ledge a bit here. Those of you who are opposed to this trade have every right to veto it -- that's why there's a system in place for league review of trades. I just hope we use that tool very, very judiciously. Clearly there are strong feelings about this one and therefore this might be one of those times, but I could also see this devolving into far more trades being vetoed than there should be. So let's be careful in how we talk about this.
-
My last comment. You have the right to exercise your vote. Trying to rally others to your side seems overboard.
-
This is a one-sided trade, and I will exercise my right to veto. Beyond that, the decision-making that went into this deal falls outside my purview. I do think BigBen and the other Ben (MOS) make a good point in that deals like this ought to be shopped more, for the good of the league. I think it's safe to say that guys like Trout should command a lot more in return.

I say this as someone who did not inquire or make an offer for Trout, but if I did and I got that offer back, I would have probably rejected it because it is not a fair one. In another league where I am competing, there is one guy who offers trades that I don't think are very unfair to everyone and I reject them. Every prospect list is different, but even if they are 21 and 25 on all, the 21st and 25th prospects and a C that was just picked up from FA would never net Trout in real baseball.

Big Ben, then maybe you should have made an offer. The fact is that I did, and he counter offered. Sexy, it is not may, it is June. And now they are #21 and #25.
-
Golani, the system tells who made the offer because the first team name on the accepted trade is the one who made the offer. I just looked at Baseball America's May update and he was in the 50's. All I was saying is Happ is not a surefire potential superstar. It's not like you gave up Bellinger or someone who is a consensus Top 5 prospect.

I think the fact Post Hype Train gave a $20 loan to the team receiving Trout, despite Trout being underpriced to begin with, is what takes this trade from bogus to not even fair. I'm very conflicted with this one. I would have been happy to offer Post Hype far more for a $57 Trout, it's obvious he didn't shop him openly, and obvious he didn't receive close a fair market return.
-
And Luis Robert is #25 on the same list
-
http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017 Happ was #21 going into the season.
-
Nor does your example apply. Do not assume who made the offer.
-
There is a "we" in every trade as the league still has to approve of it. If the Cubs offered Contreras (who is probably better than Zunino), Happ (who isn't even a top 50 prospect), and a highly touted international signing to the Angels for Trout right now, they are 100% saying "no" as quick as possible. This is the best player in baseball being moved at a surplus value, not someone like Robinson Cano. Your comparison to real baseball does not apply here because of Trout.

I take exception to your second word of your post Sexy-"WE". There is no we in a trade, just one person and another person. If I was Post Hype I would be pissed, questioning his trade strategy. There have been many many REAL trades of one stud for 2 prospects and a regular daily player. I hope others can trust that the trade was consummated willingly.
-
For the record, I would be saying the same thing if Trout was not going to a team that is competing near the top of the standings too. Also, my apologies about my illegal team as I am waiting for my trade to go through before I decide on my cuts. It will be fixed later today.

Are we just going to give away a cheap-ish Trout for a bag of magic beans next? I thought the first return for a surplus Trout was light, but this one is really, really light. Especially when one of the guys was picked up 36 hours for a $1 and another is in summer league ball. A $57 Trout is so keepable even for a rebuilding team that it should yield a significantly greater haul than this. I only veto in extreme circumstances, but this is one time I am.

That $35 Syndergaard on the waiver wire looks awfully tempting. If I can't get him, watching the cuts that come after will be fun.

Also, could be willing to move another non-star level OF or one of my 1B as well for a MI or RP.

Since every MI I have wants to hurt himself in some way, I'm willing to deal Dahl for a pretty good MI (at least 4.5 PPG). If interested, please send over an offer or let me know in some way. Thanks.

If anyone's interested, I have an opening in a league I run. A free 16 team keeper H2H on CBS. The bad news is its a last place team with not a lot going for it. There are some good players to be sold off, however, to grab assets for next year. Hit me up for more details!

Good job everyone! Here's an explanation from FG of what it means: "It's an attempt to capture which leagues are performing the best in aggregate and which leagues offer the most competition. I do this by ranking all leagues based on the total Pace of their teams (to measure league-wide efficiency) , and the total Pace of just the top six teams in the league (as a proxy for how competitive a league is) . . . and how close the top few teams are . . ."

Very true, but I am in the $250 league listed in the top 10 as well. I think there has to be some love to be in that too, haha.

$10 leagues are truly in it for the love of the game...

Sorry, I mean five others as we are the sixth.

Surprisingly, there are six other $10 leagues there, but we are the best of them!

That is so cool. I wonder how many other $10 leagues made the top 10.

I'm no stathead but for the most part the high ranking means that points are fairly well distributed throughout our league and that we all keep optimized lineups most of the time

looking for top SP to keep up with the kershaw trade....i traded trout for 3 RP's...not afraid to pull the trigger here!!!!
-
Looking to trade Dahl and/or one of Duda, Alonso, or Hanley for some RP and MI help. Please send me an offer or a message if interested. Thanks.

It looks like no one was lucky enough in our league to have Scooter Gennett during his semi-historic night, so I was curious how many points his 5 for 5 night with 4 HRs would have been, and I came up with: (-1*5)+(5*5.6)+(4*9.4)=60.6 points. That's not too shabby. If RBIs would be counted it would have been truly off the charts.

Still looking to move prospects and good young guys for top win-now pitchers. Willing to package guys in order to get a good trade done for both. I'll be away for a few days, but will check my team while on vacation. Please send over an offer or a message and I will respond when I get a chance. Thanks.

Looking to move a 1B (like Greg Bird, Duda, or Alonso) or one of my depth OF for a MI fill-in. Also, looking for top pitching talent and willing to move prospects and good contracts to do that for win-now pieces. Please send offers or a message if interested. Thanks.
