Maybe next year we can all throw in 25-50 bucks for cash prizes for top finishers. Love that this league is so competitive imagine if we put a small monetary incentive added on thru LeagueSafe or something. Anyways keep up the good work all. Someday FanGraphs will write an article about us!
-
The top five teams are within 54 points of each -- that's about 0.4% difference -- this far into the season (with a sixth team almost as close). That's nuts! What a season in the Dozen Eggheads.

im thrilled with what ive learned this season after adopting last years 9th place team and never played otto before
-
This really is quite the competitive situation this year -- six teams within 300 pts of first at the break! -- and everyone staying active and engaged. Great league everybody -- let's keep it up.
-
"You PLAY to WIN the GAME" haha

Big Ben trying for BACK to BACK!!
-
I'm gunning for the top spot baby

New Ottoneu league ranking are out and we're still doing pretty well. We've dropped from #2 to #8 but being in the top 10 ain't bad: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-power-rankings-june-2017/

Thanks for being cool about the mistake. I'll try to keep my Eduardos straight from now on.
-
I know it is a holiday here in the US, but I do think if the reversal is going to be made, it should be done as soon as possible today before Rodriguez clears waivers.

i'm new to the league, so whatever has been established and it stays consistent....no objection here
-
Yikes! I meant to drop Eduardo Nunez and not Eduardo Rodriguez. This just happened three seconds ago. I think I can use the commissioner's tools to correct. Any objections? I'd do the same for others, of course.

I saw some graphic on MLB that said Happ is only the 4th Cub in their history to have 2 multi-HR games in his first 50 games. With that said, you should be very happy with that Trout guy. May both you and Post-Hype reap equitable returns!!

You guys were right. The Trout trade was an awful trade. I Happ is hitting homers while Trout is still on the DL. I got fleeced... (I am joking, just trying to bring a little humor into the league). Happy 4th and happy half way point of the league!!
-
Since another MI of mine has died, I'm still looking for MI. If you are thinking about rebuilding, I would be willing to move Trea Turner as a nice, shiny piece to have for next season. Please send offers if you are interested or have a MI to spare. I'll take a look at potential offers tomorrow. Oh, and Happy Canada Day to everyone! Thanks.

Golani Gang's trade block has been updated!
-
Ok, it's just fantasy baseball. It's ok for me to post my opinion. Definitely gotta get back to work though, this was fun. No hard feelings.
-
Ok. Please stop
-
Whoa dude chill on the "enough" you aint my daddy!
-
Enough. You made your point. You have your opinion. Not everyone agrees. Let people make up their own mind. Do not insult us anymore. Enough
-
But in the end all we can do is veto and hope enough owners are active enough to exercise that right. Post hype should veto for the benefit of his team.
-
Golani Gang pulled off a heist I guess any impartial observer would agree that's a bogus trade from any angle. I wouldn't have ever proposed a trade like that because I know it's ridiculous and anyone in their right mind wouldn't waste any time even contemplating it. IMHO, Post Hype to make that trade is a lazy dog to not go out and say "hey i've got the best player in the game, if i am going to trade him, let's field some offers to get the best possible return." It's bad for the leagu
-
I agree with what you are saying, Scarlet. The reason I brought this up is that I am in a league where there have been some disagreeable trades, nothing is said about them, and then it goes down the slippery slope where the trades are just laughable at how bad they are, including one today. A trade like this basically opens the door for some more questionable trades and then bad feelings happening. If this goes through, that's fine, but I think the discussion is worthwhile to have in the end.

Second, leave room for the fact that others might not agree with your roster philosophy. Post-Hype, who we haven't heard from, might view Trout at $57 (and more likely mid $60s next year after inflation & arbitration) as too much. I know some folks say that Trout at $70 is justifiable, but that's not how everyone wants to construct their roster. Could he have gotten more for him by shopping? Sure. Might that be a mistake? Maybe. Veto-able? I don't know. Vote as you wish but there are two
-
OK everyone -- let's take a step back from the ledge a bit here. Those of you who are opposed to this trade have every right to veto it -- that's why there's a system in place for league review of trades. I just hope we use that tool very, very judiciously. Clearly there are strong feelings about this one and therefore this might be one of those times, but I could also see this devolving into far more trades being vetoed than there should be. So let's be careful in how we talk about this.
-
My last comment. You have the right to exercise your vote. Trying to rally others to your side seems overboard.
-
This is a one-sided trade, and I will exercise my right to veto. Beyond that, the decision-making that went into this deal falls outside my purview. I do think BigBen and the other Ben (MOS) make a good point in that deals like this ought to be shopped more, for the good of the league. I think it's safe to say that guys like Trout should command a lot more in return.

I say this as someone who did not inquire or make an offer for Trout, but if I did and I got that offer back, I would have probably rejected it because it is not a fair one. In another league where I am competing, there is one guy who offers trades that I don't think are very unfair to everyone and I reject them. Every prospect list is different, but even if they are 21 and 25 on all, the 21st and 25th prospects and a C that was just picked up from FA would never net Trout in real baseball.

Big Ben, then maybe you should have made an offer. The fact is that I did, and he counter offered. Sexy, it is not may, it is June. And now they are #21 and #25.
-
Golani, the system tells who made the offer because the first team name on the accepted trade is the one who made the offer. I just looked at Baseball America's May update and he was in the 50's. All I was saying is Happ is not a surefire potential superstar. It's not like you gave up Bellinger or someone who is a consensus Top 5 prospect.

I think the fact Post Hype Train gave a $20 loan to the team receiving Trout, despite Trout being underpriced to begin with, is what takes this trade from bogus to not even fair. I'm very conflicted with this one. I would have been happy to offer Post Hype far more for a $57 Trout, it's obvious he didn't shop him openly, and obvious he didn't receive close a fair market return.
-
And Luis Robert is #25 on the same list
-
http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017 Happ was #21 going into the season.
-
Nor does your example apply. Do not assume who made the offer.
-
There is a "we" in every trade as the league still has to approve of it. If the Cubs offered Contreras (who is probably better than Zunino), Happ (who isn't even a top 50 prospect), and a highly touted international signing to the Angels for Trout right now, they are 100% saying "no" as quick as possible. This is the best player in baseball being moved at a surplus value, not someone like Robinson Cano. Your comparison to real baseball does not apply here because of Trout.

I take exception to your second word of your post Sexy-"WE". There is no we in a trade, just one person and another person. If I was Post Hype I would be pissed, questioning his trade strategy. There have been many many REAL trades of one stud for 2 prospects and a regular daily player. I hope others can trust that the trade was consummated willingly.
-
For the record, I would be saying the same thing if Trout was not going to a team that is competing near the top of the standings too. Also, my apologies about my illegal team as I am waiting for my trade to go through before I decide on my cuts. It will be fixed later today.
