RIP actually posted on October 1st that he would be returning. That was not the right move booting him. He's still got 10 days to allocate. Also he shouldn't get booted even if he doesn't allocate. It's his choice or preference. Or any other owner for that matter. If you booted him, then we've got two other owners that haven't allocated completely as well. However, you should not boot anyone because they have not broken any rules.

Read the Ottoneau rules. We need to get off this owners must allocate and owners must prepay. No they don't actually. It might be preferred but that's not the setup this website has in place. It's the offseason, RIP may have simply chosen to not allocate. It's kinda rude but not required. We just need to stop overriding the website rules already in place.

I agree wih your owner expectations and hope every owner here does continue to participate. RIP was abandoned 11 days before the deadline. He hasn't not participated. He was active last year, recently made a post and changed his team name. Just because he didn't allocate in the manner others prefer doesn't mean he should be booted. That was a Joe Madden(too quick) reaction. I understand folks preference and agree with most, but we need to follow the website rules.

My two cents. Ownership= active or passive. Dollars spent to purchase a team is not really a commitment. After purchase one is expected to field a complete team and participate in the rules and spirit of the league, respond to inquires etc. Just my two cents!

I'm not really disagreeing with your opinions, but don't believe we should sway from the rules already in place by Ottoneau that owners were under the impression was in place when they spent their money to join the league. Our opinions or own preference shouldn't override the rules already set forth by Ottoneau.

It balances out for everyone. While I can understand your request and would rather all owners allocate as well. I just don't think we should override rules already in place by Ottoneau. People sign up for this league based on the rules Ottoneau has designed already. If we want to set up special or preferred rules, we should do that on another site that is set up for that and create our own private league.

I don't think you should mark teams abandoned unless they tell you to do it for them. Ottoneau has that already in place when his team expires. He paid $100 until the expired date. He bought that timespan. If it expires, his team goes into a half price option for a new owner to take over. Per Ottoneau rules, owners have until Nov. 14th to make allocations. It's an owners choice to make allocations or not. There is no unfair advantage for owners if a team doesn't allocate.

RIP has not responded to me regarding no allocations made and to see if he is staying in the league, so I will mark his team as abandoned.
-
We never discussed when all owners should be renewing their team. Each team has a certain date to renew by, I think based on when they originally purchased the team. In our league, we have renewal dates from Jan 17 - Mar 29. I don't know what happens if you don't renew your team by your specific date. Before we have our yearly draft, all teams will have to be paid for.
-
We are renewing in my other league right now, should we be doing the same? Did we discuss this already, and I don't remember?

So far only 2 teams have not done any allocations. Two others are in the process of doing allocations. I think we are doing fine so far. We still have plenty of time before the Nov 14 deadline. Let's wait and see how it looks around Nov 7. But I do think an official vote might be in order to determine how we would handle allocations for a team has been abandoned and make this the rule for this league going forward.
-
Again I think that if a owner is returning they MUST do allocations! My two cents!

I should have read the entire thread before posting, lol. Looks like we're already set on a decision, which is fine. I don't think it makes a huge difference either way. That said, I do think it's very important for all returning owners to make their allocations.
-
If we decide to go in this direction, I would propose a system that allocates the missing teams' dollars that's weighted towards the top teams from the previous year.
-
I'll be back, but I'll probably save the smack talk until I actually finish in the money, lol. As for allocations, I'd like to have owners who are competitive in the offseason and who will make their allocations, etc. If we can't fill all the empty teams before the end of arbitration, then I think we should try to agree on a system of allocating on behalf of the absent teams.
-
Welcome to the league, Fainting Goats. Glad to have you join us.

The Fainting Goats's trade block has been updated!

Well it seems like most owners would like to leave the allocations as they are as of the November 14 Deadline. We will do this then. I'll contact any owner who has not done allocations on Nov 7 to see what their status is. If I get no response by Nov 14, then that team will be dropped and we will move on. Thanks for all the input guys. THAT'S WHAT MAKES THIS LEAGUE SO GREAT!
Anyone who has not posted a comment on this subject please feel free to do so.

I am coming back--Other leagues I am in, you are removed if you don't do allocations! Should be the same here!

I agree with McCheese as well...If a team is claimed before arb ends, all the power to that owner, otherwise the arb dollars should just be left on the table. I also agree this was a great league. Lot's of activity, active auctions, so would be great to keep going for a long time to come!

I think good communication from everyone is really all we need. Is there anyone that isn't returning? How bout a head count with a quick response from all owners. You staying or leaving? I will be here again. This is a good league. My competitive spirit didn't like a few trades early on, but got to understand some of the owners now and believe we have a good group. Just need Mookie Betts Show to keep talking some smack though. It's good competition but all in fun(But I hate losing.lol).

While I can respect what Aces purpose is and think he is doing a great job, I've gotta agree with McCheese on this one. I don't think we should go against what Ottoneau already has in place. I do agree that everyone returning should go ahead and put your allocations in. If you have the option to adjust your picks before the deadline, it doesn't hurt to go ahead and put them in ahead of time(says the guy that hasn't yet..lol). Just as a courtesy to the other owners if anything.

I agree with McCheese that I'd rather not have the other teams allocate for the abandoned. However, I can also see what the Commish is getting at in that everyone should allocate. Maybe set an internal date, like November 7, for everyone to allocate, and whoever doesn't, the commish can contact personally to see what the deal is. Whoever doesn't respond gets abandoned and the new owner has time to allocate
-
I am assuming that whatever teams are abandoned will be claimed, To make sure every team has the same advantage, I will let new owners do allocations.
-
In my opinion everyone should spend their own $25 and those that don't spend it so be it.

Not sure what you mean by uniform. The way the allocation system is set up keeps it somewhat balanced no matter how many people spend their money or not. I know that you would have the league help you, but that would get messy. Not everyone would agree on how to allocate the money, which means some would have to compromise. So in essence some teams would get to allocate more money to fit their strategy. I know this is a small advantage, but one none the less.

There may not be a rule for it, but I think it is needed to keep the league uniform. Let's wait to see which teams are abandoned. The new owners of course would have their choice of making allocations or not. My method of allocation would involve all teams that plan on staying in the league. I would not be the only one deciding the allocations. We still have a lot of time before next season so let's see what happens.
-
I don't really like that idea. That allocation money is for the owner to choose what he or she does with it. There is no rule that says you have to use it. I don't want my commissioner deciding where that goes. Plus it could get quite complicated if others are involved in that decision making. I say if money is not allocated by a team so be it.

That is correct. I am planning on doing allocations for those teams that don't do theirs by the 14th with the help of those teams remaining in the league. I figure if a team doesn't do their allocations by the 14th they probably aren't staying in the league.

Hey guys, my son actually signed us up for this league, but this is way over his and my experience level. I told him we need to start with something much more basic. Sorry for our mistake, best of luck with your league.

I do have a question. Once you save your allocations on the website, is it final or can you make changes up until the November 14th deadline?

Thanks Catalina. Good luck in your teams next year.

I don't plan to renew, 3 prize leagues was too much for me to keep up with. Had a fun season though, wish you all luck.

Congrats Richie!
As of now, I should be back next season. I play in other leagues also, so I could decide to cut back in the future. But as of now, I should be back.
I don't see a need to change Commish. Aces has done a great job!
