Let me understand something.
This is a $20 league so there is no prize money?
All this drama over a trade?
Shouldn't there be an age requirement in order to join a league?
-
So we need two owners and a new commissioner any takers?
-
Well...that is a curious development...how do we get a new commissioner?
-
I'm out of here.

The trade went through on its own. Please let us manage our own teams. I wouldn’t have players like acuna and soto if I couldn’t trade stars for prospects. This is ridiculous. Let us manage our teams and we’ll let you manage yours. My gosh.

Well that vote tells you all you need to know...looks like 1 vote in favour...besides your own votes. We are down one team with Lumber and Lightning wanting his team abandoned. Which actually makes a majority against. 6-5. I guess the commish will be reversing?
-
The prospects may or may not be many things. But one side got maybes and the other got 60-80 saves and the #3 first basemen to play at UTIL...all for at (Chapman & Strop) or far below (Rizzo) market value. These trades, when they happen mid season, usually involve older and overpaid stars...guys that will likely be dropped in the next offseason. This is a MUCH different trade...no matter how you guys try to spin it. I would be defending it if I was on the receiving end of this gift too.
-
Nice to hear a completely unbiased take on the trade merits 😁
-
Whitley, the top pitching prospect in all of baseball, is not gonna be a star? You could be right I guess. we're all, of course, entitled to your own opinions and I enjoy discourse over fantasy trades. sincerely I do. And No one is right or wrong. I think this is a good trade for both sides and i think Whitley will be a star. I think Puk will be star, greyber IS on the cusp of it at 22, and Alonso has 40 HR power. I can say with certainty I would do this trade if I were in Error's position.
-
In a different ottonue league I play in, I found a trade that looks a lot like this one, but a bit smaller in scope. March 13 2017- Player A gives up $5 Josh Bell and $8 Alex Reyes and gets in return $27 Corey Kluber and a loan for $16. I, of course, was Player B. Player A is, you guessed it Mr. Maple. Deal was approved, no dissents.

When did I say this league was an experiment? I thought I said that about a different ottoneu team that I picked up which was in deep last place. Doesn't really matter. I've played in keeper/dynasty style leagues for about 10 years and these trades do indeed happen. I did not have a competitive team, well maybe for 7th place. Gosh, how exciting that would be.

You guys also thought Whitley was gonna be a star
-
If missing the point was an Olympic sport..we would have some medallists. As someone heavily involved in Otttoneu from the start, I greatly appreciate the lessons. I specifically mentioned that these trades are the norm..the timing is not, and is unusual because we have an owner that could have fielded a competitive team this year, but has chosen to conduct some weird experiment..at our expense (except Destiny). Not angry, just frustrated and decided to make my case publicly. No rule against it.
-
I'm not comparing Alonso to Tebow but Alonso still can't play a position. Even with all the improvement Mets are spouting.
-
Of course there’s risk on both sides- prospects don’t always pan out, closers lose their jobs or go under the knife- but if both sides are happy with the trade and think they did the right thing for their team I just don’t get the fuss.

....and are you actually comparing alonso with tebow? Come on, man.
-
puk had TJS. Shipping a prospect to the minors doesn't mean they aren't a stud. Puk is one of the very best pitching prospects in the game. sorry you don't know that. You think when Guerrerro goes to the minors he's not a stud?? come on. that is just silly talk. If i were rebuilding i would give up my all of my highest priced players for puk, torres, and alonso in a second. In fact that's how i got them in the first place. This is a fair trade. a trade that make sense for both of us.

Brooklyn Bombers's trade block has been updated!
-
b. Uneven trades are allowed, although they will be handled as follows: If team A is acquiring 3 players while trading 1 to B, team A must stay below or at the 40-man limit or must also cut 2 additional players of their choosing in accordance with the rules in section V.
-
No offense but do you guys really think AJ Puke is a stud? A's already shipped his sorry ass to the minors. Unless Alonso gets traded to a team with a DH he's going to be sipping beers with Tebow this year. Gleber is a stud.
But is he worth all that?
-
year to build on. Gleber, puk, and alonso are studs in anybodies book. take a chill. make some moves. everone who wants to win is going to need to make trades. that's how it works.
-
...of the seaon and try to win it all. what's unfortunate is how everyone forgets from year to year that these trades are how ottonue is won. they happen 3every single year because that's how you build and how you win now. I traded my superstars last year. hell, i traded trout the year before and was on the other end of these angry messages. this is the reality people. this is not only a good trade for me, but gives error a foundation of killer prospects who are either already up or coming this.
-
what the hell guy?! I aquired all of my prospects by tradeing stars and salary for them. now I am trading my prospect FOR stars and salary. that's how it works here at ottonue. that's how kings of crash (formerly whatever) won last year. did you forget about last years trades by the winning teams. that's how this works. You build with prospects like Acuna, soto - once they become stars and your tema is ready you trade your other prospects for salary you'll need to cut at the end of the season...
-
What"s the problem dude? If you don't like a trade you can vote against it. Did the White Sox quit because they didn't get Harper? Did Baltimore quit because their team sucked? That's the idea behind Dynasty leagues.
Don't forget one team took on a lot of salary. That's going to figure into their future.
-
I am not going to renew. please mark my team as abandoned
-
We have a rule to allow the other owners a say. If you feel as I do, exercise that right...if not, ignore this and good luck this season to everyone...we'll need it. Last comment....sorry to take up so much of your time.
-
...Second, the rules in Ottoneu are set up so that rebuilds can easily happen in one off-season. Which is why I have rarely seen teams decide to tank before the season starts....unless the team was in really terrible shape, or the owner has come on late...neither of these is the case. Error has told me in messages that this team is an experiment of sorts...going to the extreme in prospects and cap room. I think his experiment is unfairly tilting the table in a prize money league.
-
First, sweet use of Hypophora. Is this an effective figure of speech? I hope not. Does is make the argument more convincing? I don't think so. Look...there is no official rule broken..conceded...I just feel that this type of deal violates the spirit of competition in 2 ways. First, the massive salary cap exceedance, which we often see mid or late season, is rarely done pre-season. To add to it, this trade gives extra cap room, beyond balancing the salaries, to a team that had none....
-
Is trading allowed? Yes. Is my team crappy? Yes. Did I help my team get more competitive in the very near future? Yes. In the Tout Wars Draft and Hold league this year- and thats a single season league- Rizzo went in the 3rd, Torres in the 4th, chapman the 7th, Peter Alonso the 13th. I traded the cubs temporary closer for a potential ace. I moved out $66 dollars and took in $12. I believe the 3 players I acquired will be more valuable (as a group) than the 3 I traded as soon as next season.

Big Maple's trade block has been updated!
-
I hope we can keep further discussion about this, here and in the private messages, civil.
-
Yikes...by the responses I just got from the commish in my inbox...I obviously touched a nerve. In a prize $$ league, seeing this type of deal in pre-season is frustrating to this long-time Ottoneu owner. I feel these types of deals in midseason are tolerable because there are usually multiple sellers, and opportunity exists to teams willing to compete to make similar deals to keep pace. There are unlikely deals like this available to other owners for a couple of months...hence my frustration.
-
I really don't think the trade merits a "what the fuck?"

Anyone else bailing on the season before it starts...I need to know who my trade partners are :-(

You should also know that the auction uses the Vickrey auction rules: probably easiest thing is for you to google it, but basically if you bid $10 for a player and the next highest bid was $5, you get the player for $6.
