Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Thursday that there will not be a platoon at first base this season.
"It's tough for me to envision us having two first basemen," said Boone, "especially when I feel like (DJ) LeMahieu would be that guy that gets backup reps there." That means either Luke Voit or Greg Bird will come away with the starting job this spring. It's a situation we'll be tracking right up into the beginning of the 2019 regular season.

The Astros have named Justin Verlander their Opening Day starter.

The Phillies have named Aaron Nola their Opening Day starter.

Travis Shaw went 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in Friday’s 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks in Cactus League play.
-
Chris Paddack fanned seven batters over four scoreless innings Friday in Cactus League action against the Athletics.
The 23-year-old allowed three hits and walked none. Paddack’s impressive spring continues. He’s now allowed two runs in 8 2/3 innings this spring to go along with a 13/2 K/BB ratio. He didn’t look like a serious candidate for a rotation spot at the start of spring training, but that has definitely changed on the strength of his performance.

Yonder Alonso went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, three RBI, and three runs scored in Friday’s 15-8 victory over the Angels in Cactus League action.
-
Willy Adames was hit in the head by a pitch during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles but was able to stay in the game.
-
German Marquez struck out nine batters over three innings Saturday in a Cactus League start against the Indians.
I WANT HIM. TRADE HIM TO ME!
-
Jose Altuve (side) won't return to Grapefruit League action until at least next weekend.
He'll be held out of baseball activities altogether as the Astros try to get his left side soreness to subside. Altuve has had to be scratched from the lineup a couple times over the last few days, but the team remains confident the injury isn't a long-term thing. "We feel very good about the fact this is a minor issue," manager A.J. Hinch said. "We are going to sit him for a few days and do

According to Dontrelle Willis of FOX Sports 1, the Diamondbacks are nearing a deal with free agent outfielder Adam Jones.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Wednesday that he expects CC Sabathia (heart) to have a "short" stay on the injured list to begin the season.
Sabathia had an angioplasty in December and also underwent knee surgery this offseason. It's worth pointing out that he also has to serve a five-game suspension to open the season. We'll likely see the veteran southpaw pitching in his first game of his last season sometime in the middle of April.

Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Monday.
After a couple setbacks with his left shoulder earlier on in camp, Kershaw has been playing catch without issue for the last week and a half and is ready to try things off a mound. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts on Sunday said that he expects his ace to be ready for the start of the season, but whether that's overly optimistic remains to be seen. Obviously, he still has some hurdles to clear, but he's moving in the right direction.
-
#BlueJays manager Charlie Montoyo revealed that prospect Cavan Biggio got into a car accident a couple of days ago. No major injuries and he's expected to play tomorrow after taking some time off.
-
Top Angels prospect Jo Adell injured both legs while running the bases in Saturday's Cactus League game and is expected to miss the start of the season.
-
Much of the discussion surrounding Vladimir Guerrero Jr. this spring has revolved around when he will make his inevitable Blue Jays big league debut. That date will be delayed.
MLB.com's top overall prospect suffered a Grade 1 strain of his left oblique on Friday and is expected to miss about three weeks, the team announced Sunday.

Who is the new coach of Error Flynn? Am I correct in following all the drama that went down after the draft that Error was the commissioner and then just dropped his team and left the league and someone new has taken over?? I was propose a trade that I just accepted but I want to make sure of that the Error team is on the up and up.

24 hours is good enough for me
-
just to be clear on the trade approval window. it is still at 24 hours, im not able to adjust it in-season. ive talked to niv, he said he'll take a look at changing it himself (to standard 48 hours). it may have to be done with no pending trades, however
-
If anyone hasn't drafted yet in another league make sure you get Estevan Florial NYY (R) OF L. This guy is going to be one of the great ones. I just watched him beat out an infield hit. He was way past first before the ball got there. He then stole second. Went to third on a wild pitch and then scored on another wild pitch. Check him out.
-
destiny's beaver. error flynn has a new owner, any new owner is allowed one round of penalty free cuts. those have now been made, everything moving forward will be standardized cuts and waivers
-
Brooklyn Bombers's trade block has been updated!
-
...I'm cool with a new owner getting to make penalty free cuts for taking a rbuilding team, but i just wanted to confirm that's what happened.
-
something weird happened. Error made cuts, but the players didn't go to waivers and the salaries all reset when they were released. hamels is being auctioned at $1 when he was 21 in the draft? Can anyone explain. I also went to pick up one of those drops on waivers, but none of them were there. instead they are at auction starting at a buck?
-
Yes...new owner Mark, has made a round of cuts.
-
does error flynn have a new owner?

Down with all of that. Thanks mallards.

Good to know Lumber & Lightning, i've enjoyed playing with you. -- Also, let's have fun everyone, that's why we're here, right?
-
On a whole, we have plenty of good active owners, and I'll be here all season looking for my first championship. Good luck everyone
-
I can stick around
-
Please take your time and weigh your options. While some teams are playing for the now, or value the now more, this is a dynasty league with relatively long term implications.
-
I have 1 request/opinion as well. If you are going to trade away players, please take the diligent time to consider making offers to as many owners as possible to shop your players. I think some of the issue with this disputed trade was not just the timing and extra loaning of cash, but simply the fact error flynn made a rash decision without shopping his guys. the trade was made 1 day after the draft and with weeks before the season starts.
-
Thanks Mallards.
-
I'll be making 1 change immediately, and that is reverting the trade approval window from 24 hours BACK to ottoneu standards of 48 hours. This allows everyone more time to weigh in on league affairs.
-
Thanks for stepping up, Mallards!
-
Cash Prizes cool. I forgot what league it was. I am good with Kings of
Cash taking over as commissioner
-
OK gentlemen. I've requested niv (ottoneu's supreme leader) to hand off commissioner duties to myself. I've been playing ottoneu for a number of years now, and fantasy for a few decades now. I'm just looking to help stabilize any issues that come forth, and let all league members decide the fate of the our league.
-
just an FYI destiny: you didn't get "players like acuna and soto if i couldn't trade trade stars for prospects" . you actually added both those guys as free agents.
-
Seems like we still have a competitive league now that error has left. I'm happy to help be commissioner for now if no one else is. I'm sure we can find a replacement for anyone who wants to leave.
-
This is a $50 league. There are prizes. You can't get a refund after the draft. If your not happy with your team you can leave but that seems silly considering you already paid. Or you could try and compete and do you what you can to make your team better going forward. This is dynasty after all.
-
From what I've read there are NO refunds After your league has drafted. Which makes it all that much perplexing why owners would quit after the draft
