If I carry him to next season, I have him for $11 or nothing. Now, there is potential to have him for $6 or less if he isn't claimed. Calculated risk, and one I'm happy to take.

I thought $11 was fair then and still think it may be, but based on prices in other leagues might as well attempt it. Now you all know my strategy, not that it was much of a secret haha

Very true, but I agree with EP - why cut him? I don't think he'll be worth that next year either, but others might, and it doesn't cost you anything to carry him into the off season

Not worried about that - I value him differently now then I did then, and really man I traded a RP

At this point my season is all about roster construction. If I lose him so be it, but no sense carrying him at $11 next year if he can probably be has for less.

I may be moving Hamels and/or Kimbrel today. Melky still available but he is less likely to move.

"It frees a roster spot for me with Corbin on the 60 day, and I think he'll be worth twice $11 next season. " I guess in hindsight giving up Romo wasn't such a loss, by dropping Corbin you certainly end up giving "something" for "nothing"

Isn't it a bit of a stretch to label Frieri a "closer" at this point? He's done nothing but flail at the role.

Because I don't think he'll be worth the price, so I want to start the process of lowering the price

if you follow Jonah Keri on twitter, he asked the same question and retweeted a couple answers that were at least semi recent...as in less than a decade...I think

The Frieri-for-Grilli trade has to be one of the strangest and most interesting MLB trades I can remember in quite some time. I can't remember the last time two closers were swapped

Have a fairly interesting inquiry on Wil Myers, if you guys are looking, I'd be looking for nothing specific other than useful assets, primarily offense
-
Why would you cut a player on the 60 day DL when you don't need cap space?
-
I knew he was too good to be true.

Have discussed Harper with two teams in the top half of the standings this week. He may or may not move, but he is available.

While we are on it, this is fascinating. What type of player is HOF worthy....cheaters, gamblers, PEDers, etc? http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/27/nelson-cruz-melky-cabrera-and-the-silent-majority/

Reading this (http://goo.gl/OgXtS4) today makes me think if anyone has ever setup a "mirror" league: Imagine our current league (same owners, same rosters) in a roto format being played alongside this one where all transactions take place in both

Yesterday my two best SP (don't laugh...but they are Kazmir and CJ Wilson) gave up 17 hits and 5 homers in 8 IP. Today Lincecum hasn't allowed a hit through 8 IP. You can't predict baseball.

anyone out there looking for MI message me, have a deal I'm working that would require me to move one of Cano/Utley/Carpenter. Would be looking for OF offense...

Apparently I need a bunch of marginally talented players to platoon in order to be successful in this league. I don't know how to manage superstars.

In my last 24 IP from starters, I'm averaging under 4 P/IP. Could be a long summer. Hence the reason I took the chance of trading for an injured Cliff Lee...Watching Kershaw/Felix/Scherzer every week has been tough

In three starts (24 IP) on my team, Kershaw has scored 195.2 points (8.1 P/IP). That'll help the title run.

And just so we're clear, I'm calling myself the idiot if that's what happened.

I demand better idiot-proofing in that case. I did it this morning after trying to catch up on the 200 posts I've missed since getting to the beach.

sometimes I have accidentally removed the check on waiver claims so I wonder if that's what happened, only lists Durham, Trey and WGW

I'm not sure why my waiver claim on Quintana was not processed.

If you think it was a horrible return that you easily could have topped, it may just be that you're making too much of lists that were published in February. And he even cracked some of those lists.

I'm not saying anything like that. I'm saying perhaps you should slow down on the expectations based on a half season of strong performance in the Cal league.

Citing pre-draft scouting reports is a little off base, because the reds are really good at finding gems that other trams' scouts have slept on. I could not have landed a better prospect with that trio of old dudes.

Hesitant to comp anyone to Votto, but I recently read where Winker was compared to both Votto and Bruce at same age/level and his development is ahead of both of them.

Pretty clear you're saying, "Winker wasn't enough for that package." The assumption then is he should have asked for more. And he did, and was rejected. Tough to have it both ways.

FWIW, when I worked at Perfect Game before the 2012 draft, the owner of PG, who probably saw Winker play dozens of times in high school, said his swing and approach reminded him of Votto's.
