that's all well and good -- and I agree that if he sustains 360/460 he's a top 20 OF. Of course, that's not the discussion. The same can be said for every player in the league. I pointed out the link you offered put a 55 grade on his hit tool.
-
Zunino was rated a 55/60 hitter by BA entering last season. Correa was also given a 55 hit tool. The point is that a 55/60 rating is an excellent MLB player and there aren't many of them. Prospects are fluid though, and things can change up or down.

I'm sure there are plenty of players with 100 PA with OBP's above .330, but that's only 1/3 of the equation. There are only 20 that are sustaining a .280/.360/.460 slash right now. No idea if Winker will hit that or not, but he's a top 20 OF if he does

The "crazy" .280/.360/.460 slash I cited was pulled directly from the scouting report I posted for Winker. (http://bit.ly/1sC7SWe)

There are currently 20 Free Agent OFs with OBP >.330, and that ignores platoons you can create
-
Whats your starting OF's OBP? I'm guessing its nowhere near .325-330
-
again, .360 OBP is elite, not 55 . . . league average OBP (non-pitchier) s .320. Just pointing out the disconnect between 55 and your crazy projection made up out of thin air
-
EP may need to upgrade his scouting department this off season...

If Winker becomes a 55 player he's a "first division regular" and one of the better OF's in the game with above average power. He costs just $1. I'd love to lock in my 3rd OF under $5 one day. Seems like a nice package considering what Jed gave up.

There are only 20 every day hitters YTD that meet the .280/.360/.460 slash (min 350 PA), and the average price is $27. Brett Gardner's season is the closest I see to that line and he's the 11th best OF YTD.

There are exactly 35 HITTERS qualified for the batting title sporting a .360 OBP, I think you've got the 20-80 scale confused
-
Yeah, .280/.360/.460 OF under $5 are a dime a dozen...

I'm not sure Jed will be all that excited if he hits his projection of a 55 hit tool

Jesse Winker matters (http://bit.ly/1sC7SWe). That trade is looking better and better for Jed...

all that matters in this league is Garrett Richards and Javy Baez.

I said above average to elite, and it doesn't have to be an overall surplus to be motivated to deal, just a surplus at one position. I can just as easily wait until auction, but it doesn't hurt to see what's out there.

The Cubs might be the only team in either MLB or fantasy that has a surplus of cheap, elite offense, but a year from now I suspect even that won't look like enough. Having "too much" great offense under market value is a myth. Just as the Royals...

I have a lot of young pitching, willing to potentially overpay in young pitching for young offense if anyone has surplus anywhere.

Which was helpful when Yadier went down. Helps again here, as I'm over at 1B.

Another benefit to being over in games played early on, by the way, is that if a starter gets hurt, you have time to swing a deal and replace him.
-
I prefer Goldy and Cutch long term, but this was a deal I had to make. The hard part was giving up Ryu, an NL guy in a pitchers park with low HR and BB rates, who's only 26 and priced to keep.
-
It is a major help for Chiefs this year and probably gets to keep Abreu next year depending on how are goes and who else he decides to cut
-
Lucky, exactly....I see the two offensive guys as upgrades (not massive) over my two guys and guys who I would rather count on going forward. I have the flexibility and love Ryu at his price and workhorse for a league like this
-
but it definitely is a huge plus for him this year as well
-
Considering Cutch and Goldy are broken and Chiefs had to make a move, that has to be a finalist for trade of the season...

I guess WGW was willing to take on $20 in extra salary if he could get Ryu for Duffy/Hutchison? Seems like a steep price to pay. Cutch is an upgrade over Stanton, but not by that much.

I know Cutch and Goldy are injured right now but I will still take both of them long term over Stanton and Abreu.

+1. How he got WGW to add Abreu is the amazing thing. Abreu is Goldschmidt for half the price. Terrific move for Nick.

He's so good, Mets fans have tried to come up with stuff he is NOT good with, and it's pretty hilarious: http://deadspin.com/mets-fans-are-back-with-more-sick-burns-on-hunter-pence-1615804488?

agreed. And since Opening Day 2008, he's missed a total of 24 games.

Is there a player in baseball that plays the game uglier than Hunter Pence?! How is he so good?
