Harang is not near 5.5, right?

Also better than Darvish, Ryu, Cobb YTD by P/IP

Not Tillman (4.2 P/IP). This pitcher ranks in Top 10 YTD in P/IP (min 20 GS).

Trivia question of the day: this pitcher gave up more than 2 HR/9 last year with a SIERA approaching 5.0, but is averaging more than 5.5 P/IP in 2014

ultimately, I think the quesiton is whether you believe in his resurgence, and/or whether you believe in him as a long term SS in addition to the $$$ considerations
-
I'm by no means a Mets apologist, but with the way you can pick up cheap, effective, veteran arms these days I'd rather acquire the young bat. I don't see too many young SS available for $40M.

Could certainly try to trade Syndergaard for Russell to offset the team control, but I don't think you get Russell for Syndergaard and there's a slim chance the Mets are actually decent next year

$44M over the next six years for a young everyday SS seems like a bargain to me. Offense is getting harder to find, especially MI. Resign Colon as your 5th for $2M and never look back on Syndergaard.

$44MM through the end of 2019 for Castro, or 5-6 years of Syndergaard for a total cost of signiificantly less of that (maybe $10m?). I'd rather have Syndergaard and $40M to spend, it's not just about "prospect crapshoot"
-
I know some people don't like Castro, but if I'm the Mets this winter I'm seriously considering moving Syndergaard for Starlin Castro (assuming they have the payroll...). I'll take a slightly above avg. 25 y/o SS over the prospect crapshoot any day.

Newest prospect writer on FanGraphs today writes Archie Bradley now most likely profiles as a 3/4 SP, and many feel he's better suited for relief. Ouch. Amazing how quickly things change with prospects.

or he's thinking oh god I remember Wilson/Pulsipher/Isringhausen
-
Must be nice to be the Mets (or Jed), thinking you've got Wheeler and Syndergaard in the pipeline to pair with Harvey for a formidable rotation ready to contend only to realize DeGrom might be just as good, if not better. Nice breakout season.

I predict Kershaw will not be cut.

Despite their enormous prices, Trout and Kershaw are just incredible. I predict neither is cut this off season.

Since we've broken the silence . . . What's a guy got to do to get a Rusney Fangraphs page?

Record would've been higher if you didn't ruin it - did no one fill you in on the attempt?

We've gone 72+ hours without a post. New league record?
-
Javier Baez is now rocking a 42% K rate. Might be irrelevant long term, but if the Cubs hope to contend next year does that dampen any earlier thoughts about moving Castro this winter for pitching?

One person vetoed that trade.

Okay, maybe only on some of them...

Trade links are actually included on the individual players' pages "transaction history" now - hadn't noticed that before.

I think that was it: I gave Cruz and Dunn for Longoria. I didn't have Beltre yet, needed a 3B and was counting on Longoria to rebound and Cruz to cool off or get injured. Whoops.
-
I remember getting Cruz, Longoria, and Dunn in that trade but can't remember who I traded without looking it up. Hasn't been all good; Wainwright scored 50+ tonight, or 1/3 of the points he scored for me in 40 more IP.

And speaking of ridiculous point totals, it's pretty clear that first place was decided when I traded Cruz to Trey in late May. Probably been close to a 1,000-point swing.
-
Howie Kendrick has 56 points in the last 24 hours.

I currently own two first-place ottoneu LW teams. But not in the authentic MLB jersey prize league. 🏆 😔

likely just ensuring he makes it to the general auction rather than get swept up at good value

Things could get interesting over the next 4 weeks in this race. My pitching in particular has decided to tank over the past week. Riding a 1.36 WHIP & 1.83 HR/9 over the past 7 days (54 IP) for 4.3 P/IP. Worst stretch of the season for the Strikes...

I didn't receive the alert for the Hammel auction this morning. But I don't have message board alerts on.

Anyone else not getting email alerts for auctions, board messages, etc?

guess he reserves some rights to flexibility around the deadline, which probably isn't the worst thing in the world given that sometimes the website acts wonky

FYI from Niv on that trade: ottoneu @ottoneu 1m @wfporter1972 @nivshah edge case based on when accepted.

Wacha, Altuve, Harrison, and Norris for Wainwright (cut), Tulo (injured), Hosmer (cut), Hill is a complete disaster of a trade looking back. At least he did ?give? me Kluber and Sale?

Yeah, that Wainwright deal has already turned ugly for me, and it pushed you to net Abreu/Stanton, which was one of the better deals of the season. That will set you up nicely for 2015.
