Bat, Yelich is on a keeper contract and in his prime (i.e., he's going to have a ton of value in 2020 and probably beyond), the Yelich for Soto trade is best described as big P, not as big F, for not as big P, and big F. Both players have substantive P and F value. I assumed that Brew's accusation referred to the classic exchange of a rental for prospects. If that is Brew's accusation, then I don't think the Yelich for Soto trade is in any way relevant to his claim.
-
Hey Brew, what ever happened to Blake Treinen? Bet on a $9 Liam at your own risk, he’s 30 and the last few months aren’t his whole career. Though maybe I just gave up on Liam 3 years too soon.

Mikey, I’ll throw in Trammel. NGB, sure, time comes calling for us all, and maybe it’s come for Max, but he’s going to have to prove it to me. (I gave up on JV years too early...maybe I over-learned that lesson.)

Brew, that’s a pretty big bet on the health of an overused RP and an unlikely (but possible, I hope) outcome for Riley. I’ll take my chances with Max over those 2. Partly this is because I’m convinced Rendon will be the Braves 3B next year (and years after).

No, I’m not—at least I didn’t mean to say anything about Mikey’s intentions. I just described what I see in the trade—a fairly obvious exchange of excess present value for (expected) future value. Though, sure, Soto’s Nats-ness probably adds to Mikey’s assessment of his value (like Acuña’s being a Brave does for me, and the way Brew seems to value “his” prospects probably does for him).

Bat, I also find it interesting that you'd equate a 35-yr-old coming back from injury with a 27-yr-old coming back from injury. Mikey, Sixto is a fantastic start for a Scherzer deal, if I were you I'd negotiate one more piece from Bat and then you'd have succeeded in getting the pre-injury value for Scherzer. But as a true Nats fan (bless your soul) I trust you when you say you're not trading Scherzer... then you will have played it just like the Nats did with Harper!!
-
I transfer my thinking to him too, I'd rather have Riley and Hader than Scherzer for 2020, considering salary ,age, upside . I also got Liam for Tallion who I got from you. So for 2020 I netted liam, riley, hader for two guys I'm throwing back. Which is my thinking . I'm thinking pure pragmatism, as none of the aforementioned guys were my discoveries and prospected by me, which I tend to have an emotional attachment.
-
You're transferring your thinking onto Mikey. Mikey doesn't make that trade if Soto isn't a Nat. For example, he doesn't make that trade for Acuna. Future vs. present value didn't figure into the equation, especially at the subtle level you're now parsing.
-
Seeing DC in person, what doesn't translate to TV is how fast they are , Soto , Turner, Robles. Robles looks down Sanders fast in person.
-
I don’t think we’re remotely seeing peak Soto, and while he’s definitely got a lot of present value it’s quite a bit less than Yelich. It’s that increment of present value that Mikey traded for the monster that age-24 or -25 Soto will be.

Interesting that you view a guy who's put up 920 pts and counting (7.6 ppg) as not being a "present" value guy. I tend to think of guys like Adell, Franco, Gore, when I think of "future" value guys; guys who've not yet seen an mlb game.
-
Bat, Epic post, love it!!
-
...bored. But if you want to prove them completely wrong, I could probably give you Sixto for Max.

Yeah Mikey, these comments are kind of strange. You never trade present value for future value...2 weeks after you traded Yelich for Soto. Max, who has the highest points/ip of his career, needs to rebuild his value (I guess Yelich does too, he’s missed a bunch of games this year). I’ve never met Brew but I bet he’s definitely in the kind of shape Max is in, and gets the same kind of medical care. 4th is the worst place to finish...now that Brew has given up catching you. I think they’re

I’ve never owned Bumgarner, I’m not trading Scherzer, and if you don’t make the top three who cares if your fourth or twelfths? It’s not like we have draft positions. By ending up in fourth at least you’re in a race for something (even if you’re fading fast).

Save Kimbrel, 13th . I promised ngb 20

Moral dilemma do I tell my wife ? My dad never told me there was rum in the eggnog
-
Im baking yet more zuchini bread to freeze , next year will have an added ingredient that is mood enhancing
-
Soto would have never left my team
-
Kloobs, I've got a beautiful JRam card just waiting for an address to be sent to!!
-
Of course, now that Mikey has the Topps Stadium baseball card of Scherzer I sent him, it'd be a shame if he didn't Scherzer on the roster a bit longer, at least into next season (Scherzer needs to re-build value anyway). BTW, still waiting for more takers on baseball cards.
-
Scherzer ,for me, is getting too pricey . As a chronic back pain sufferer , it comes and goes but you are never cured. It was big that he acquired Soto with his current club friendly salary
-
As you said ngb, finishing 4th ( assuming you didnt trade for prospects and went for it ) is the worst one can do
-
I truly admire Mikey's dedication to the Nats, it's Quixotic, but sure looks now like he hung onto Scherzer too long. However, Scherzer is still a "name" and I bet he could find one of the proto-2020 contenders still willing to gamble on Scherzer for next season. Ultimately, Mikey may still make good on Scherzer.
-
When I first started several told me he hung on to Baumgarner too long and was no market left
-
Ty and true, he refuses to trade today guys for tomorrow , probably our most stubborn GM. But it's his team and he can do what he deems best
-
Hey, you're much better set up for 2020 than Mikey is. Cheer-up!
-
Berrios ? John Gant is 9 and 0 !
-
The season joy left me with Tatis and riley going down. Aquino did hr again tonight , however, and won't be pestered for trades in a few days
-
You could start building your championship rotation by trading for Berrios!!
-
I'll never catch Mikey anyway ngb
-
Cease's 1.8 ppip over 10 mlb starts suggests there's more going on there than just the Twins own the Sox.
-
Twins are just good and own the Sox
-
Brew, I meant to warn you that the Twins were pissed and you probably shouldn't pitch Cease, but I forgot. Seriously, if it's any consolation, the dynasty Braves HoF pitchers, Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine got their brains bashed in for their first 15 to 45 mlb starts... so there's hope Cease eventually blossoms into the pitcher you've dreamed on. However, if you want to contend in 2020 I suspect you're going to have to learn to love trading coveted assets for championship caliber pitching.

Hitch and I tried last year, but I don't think we found more than a half dozen owners. I am trying to promote the idea sooner this year.

I would be interested in a NL only

as far as side bets go, ive lost the Keller 850 points as he is shut down for year. My other bet is neck and neck , Meadows 687.20 and Benioverhyped 703

I was in fantasy golf 15 years ago and Tiger Woods was not allowed to be drafted
-
Related note, If there are 11 other guys that want to do this next year, I will spend a day or so in the winter putting every AL player on the restricted list of a new league.
-
I've seen a couple leagues where the top guys are all on the restricted list too.
-
Ive read some otto leagues are "golf leagues" or "bizarro leagues" where you want the lowest score, while still hitting your IP and games played max. You dont want Trout in those leagues.
-
Probably outrageous salaries that are in the process of being dropped and re-auctioned.
-
Gotta wonder why Trout is not owned in 1.05% of ottoneu leagues?

Sure indicator I'm having a bad day in this league is when my Capped FC team is out-scoring this team.

Well, ERod has started okay (so far).
