I'm going to game tomorrow
-
10 runs in the 3rd...donโt the Pirates usually start hitting people when itโs like this?

10 to 4 cubs , bottom of 3rd . 14 hits and 5 hr combined so far .
-
Nico got his 1st, will be hr parade today
-
Cubs 5 Pirates 4. Three homers hit so far, after 1 inning . Will be a real Donnybrook for sure . Hope nobody started Lester or Brault after my warning. ( if they are even rostered)
-
I'd like Braves to beat Nationals
-
Tough choice... do I watch Braves v. Nats or that other outstanding match-up for tonight... O's v. Tigers!!
-
Gusting out
-
Wind is blowing out 17 to 29 mph gusts from the west and sw. Means to rf and center
-
Rendon 42 doubles 33 hr 117 rbi wow
-
A British ipa , less hoppy, less alchohol, but perfectly balanced, smooth, and malty
-
I highly recommend that everyone that has access to a good bottle shop try Worthington White Shield.
-
Agree with John hook
-
And a hazy. Though mine always drop clear after a few weeks.
-
If UK style real ales exploded here I would be very happy. Nothing better than full bodied, malty, 3.8% ales from the cask. I don't drink enough beer to try a cask at home (it would spoil to fast), but I always have an overcarbonated keg of dark mild on tap.
-
I've had a lot of mediocre hazies. It does seem that some brewers just go for the haze and miss the compelling elements of the style in terms of hop saturation, "juicyness", and that pillowy mouthfeel. The beers that get it right though, are some of my absolute favorites.
-
Beer is fashion in a way, what's in . I await the day when British styles are " discovered " and the hipsters start drinking pints of bitters, esb, scotch ale, etc...
-
One of my favorite beers , La Fin du Monde by Unibroue is hazy
-
As a brewer, and having entered into competition, for most styles, clarity is paramount. Obviously not for Neipa, or hefeweiss, and certain belgian styles.
-
Fortunately for Mechanics heโs in the homeland of the style and can always just wait in line at Trillium or Treehouse. Or make that trip to Vermont.

Yeah, you donโt want to sound too much like Chip and Joe, whining about the shift because itโs different. But maybe these shouldnโt be called โIPAsโ, and if they had a different name maybe the old standards wouldnโt apply. I think the good ones are good, but there seems to be a lot of mediocre even bad ones too; sometimes the haze seems to be the goal, instead of the byproduct of brewing for drinkability.

most ive spoken with love them, so maybe i need to try more, and get over my bias
-
Iโm definitely into IPAs and particularly hazy ones right now. We have some excellent locals here.

Maria is currently drinking a hazy IPA, New Belgium's Voo Doo Ranger... she says she loves it.
-
They taste a bit juicy not as dry as I like in an ipa
-
Not a fan, as a brewer ,I view that as an imperfection or flaw. Many folks live them and it's the current hot fad.
-
Beer talk: I'm really getting into the hazy IPAs. Generally, I'm more of a wine and spirits guy so a Vino Verde or Gin and lime is generally my Summer drink, but maybe because of their winey spirity quality I like the hazy IPAs. Pulp Daddy is one I've taken to. Opinions?

Tonight it's Robbie Ray going all Michael Fiers!
-
Alt and Kolsch are hybrids, they are ales using top fermenting ale yeast. However, technique wise they are lagered for clarity and to smooth out.
-
Im.brewing a winterbock shortly for the holidays, belly warmer around 9%.
-
Yes its top fermenting at warmer temps 65 degrees . Much more forgiving, as is Kolsch, to the brewer, and the conditions. Again , very British leaning
-
I didn't realize that an Altbier was basically a literal German Old Ale. No wonder I like it so much more than most other German styles.
-
i love when this room drifts off into beer talk
-
My Alt is a faux Oktoberfest i brewed because i didnt start my O fest in time. As its an ale (and a speedy fermenting one) , i will be able to have it ready in time for my annual Oktoberfest party I throw . As they crowd (the wives especially) are not that beer sophisticated, nobody will catch on as color and body are similiar. Will be more mouthfeel, less crisp, and hoppier than a lager , espcially a Festbier. Its a German ale that is a lot like a british ESB
-
Id like Brent to send me beer, he has good taste
-
I believe you are correct about the beer. I meant that, in a hypothetical scenario where Fred took 9th, he would probably enjoy some Prost beer, as he loves German-style lagers. As evidenced by the Alt he is brewing.
-
I guess I'm foggy on the Capped FC rules already... Thought last place team owed 9th place team beer?
-
I'm transfering my altbier today ! Racking it to keg and cold crashing
-
Though if you're taking requests, whatever they have in cans on any given day at Cerebral (https://cerebralbrewing.com) might be my first choice.
-
That's definitely the bier you'd owe Fred at the end of the season. I'm less picky. As long as it's not distributed in Washington its good for me. That does look quite nice though. I am a big fan of Altbier
-
Sigh...it needs to be 50s for proper ambiance , bonfire, bales of hay, blue an d.c. white checkered tent...and a pastor blessing at the first leg tapping
-
Perhaps what I'm going to owe Hook at the end of the Capped FC season... https://prostbrewing.com/ ?

-
I can't speak to that but my little suburb town certainly has one. Prost!
-
Brent, I'm confused, is Phoenix the only major metropolitan city in the U.S. that doesn't have an Oktoberfest? The only thing better than Oktoberfest is Oktoberfest w/ elite level professional baseball for less than $10 a ticket!! Your loss Brew.
-
I'd rather look at a busty waitress in a german derndil outfit than NGB s bald spot
-
Actually they have been in playoffs 4 years in a row , one of which extended into November
-
Baseball in October must still seem odd to a Cubs fan.
