Question: If I were to cut every player on my roster tomorrow, what would happen at arbitration time? Teams are required to allocate at least $1 to every opposing team. If I don't have any players, then no one can allocate any arb dollars to my team. Do the minimum $11 that would otherwise have to have been allocated to my roster then become free to be applied to other rosters in league?

Brew, how can you root for the Astros? Are you a strong supporter of The Empire as well? You know that the As, Twins, and most of all the anti-NGB Rays are in the AL playoffs too, right? You don’t have to root for the Astros until/unless it’s down to them vs the Yankees.

I don't know how others view this, but I've always been of the opinion that near the end of a season one is better off leaving prospects you have an eye on in the draft pool than bringing them to auction, much better odds of getting them for less in the draft.

For the record, I didn't nominate a single one of the six thousand FA's nominated at the last minute, so I certainly had no plans to go there until that door was crashed down by other(s). I have no problems with other(s) doing that, but it should not be surprising that it would attract opportunists!!

Stats hit the nail on the head, as usual. Brew, when one has an $1100 payroll, bidding $100 is relatively the same as you bidding about $30 of your payroll. Also, once again, let me explain to you that there is no such thing as poaching. A player gets nominated, we all get to bid, we all know that everyone else gets to bid. If you REALLY want a player, then all you have to do is bid like you REALLY want that player.

We'll see when the cuts hit, but's possible that NGB is just starting the rebuild early. He has at least $100 he can cut that is completely untradeable. I mean, there's no point in holding a $35 Puig or a $50ish Goldie and trying to trade them in December.
