home brews i sent you were Belgian Pale Ale and Cherry Old Bruen, which has aged two years and now is at peak
-
Belgian Pale ...my Duvall Clone
-
And they'd like to get June Scherzer too!!
-
The Nats would be happy to have September Darvish.

The tall bottle of home brew by Cricketโs left back foot...itโs some dark liquid with a cap that says โBPโ...Fred canโt have any idea the bad flashbacks this gives me.

Shipment arrived. Like the Nats, my drought is over. And the dog is pretty excited, though he favors an Australian lager. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0v1A7jCp9pZv5bMr2oxHw4TxA#Chamblee

I think only Brent in here likes/doesn't hate the Dodgers
-
If you don't want to focus on September, in all his starts since his early July IL stint, he's given up 26 ER in 48 IP, that's an ERA of 4.88.
-
DC in 5 !
-
His Sept/Oct regular season ERA was 5.16, his Oct post-season ERA so far is 5.40. Lots of K's are meaningless if it doesn't lead to run prevention; current Scherzer is basically Darvish.
-
Mediocre is 87 Ks in 58 IP and a 3.72 ERA. He is giving up HRs, that's for sure.

It's been like 10 starts now that Scherzer has had mediocre results, eventually you have to pay attention to what he's doing and stop clinging to what he's done pre-injury.
-
No doubt the Expos have a lot of talent, but, before everyone jumps on the bandwagon, remember it was the Brewers w/o Yelich and w/ Braun and Cain hobbled they barely beat. The same team the Rockies swept w/o Arenado!! And please, stop acting like the Expos have a big three rotation... Scherzer is a 5.00+ ERA starter now and into the foreseeable playoff future. It was great to see the Expos get the monkey off their back, especially w/ Soto getting the key hit, but let's not get crazy.
-
Hasnโt Cole already signed with the Yankees? Maybe I just imagined that. Rendon would look especially good in a Braves uniform. Nats-Dodgers is a 5 game series, which is an advantage for the Nats if Max and Stras can pitch enough, but they looked so impotent in 7 games against the Braves in September that itโs hard to give them much of a chance against a much better (than the Braves) team.

Anthony Rendon will sign elsewhere for big bucks though, maybe Anaheim decides to get serious about making a run with Trout in his prime. Although , Cole would be a better spend.
-
With no dog in the fight, I'm rooting for the Expos to win it all.

Nationals will defeat Dodgers in 7
-
I find that I'm genuinely happy for the Nats, and of course for Mikey!!
-
Congrats Nats (and Nats fans)! Good luck against the Dodgersโweโll all be Nats fans for 5 games.

If Stras is a good teammate heโll give up 3 quick runs so Max doesnโt have to hear all winter about how Stras should have started tonight.

Woodruff was the starting pitcher for the Brewers in that game I attended in person at Miller Park in July. He was really impressive, Nats have their work cut out for them.
-
Max is one of the best in the game, but dc better have sense of urgency , Milwaukee will go to bullpen early , use hader 2 innings for sure
-
Pre-game win expectancy: WAS, 64%, MIL 36%. After the Thames HR: WAS, 34%, MIL 66%.

Losing to better talent isn't choking, that's you just weren't good enough. The Nats have been good enough to win the NL East both of the last two seasons (most experts picked them) and haven't even come close, that's choking.
-
Bat, I think of choking as more than just not winning, but consistently not winning when you have the better talent. Not sure that anyone could argue that the Dodgers had the better talent against the Astros or the Red Sox, and they definitely won't if they meet the Astros again.
-
Also, Mikey, man up. โUnder 101โ is just measurement error. Peace Corps nurses didnโt even want to see us unless we were over 102.

Though if they still show up as on the 60-day, I donโt think they should count towards the 40; though Iโd still vote for cutting down to 40 either way.
-
Also, I support everyone cutting down to 40 if we can figure out the logistics.
-
So bummed; fever sitting just under 101 all day. Had to give up my wild card tix for tonight...
-
I'm kinda looking forward to the Dodgers losing a third World Series in a row, that hasn't happened for over a hundred years.
-
I am conflicted tonight. Rooting for Brewers, but wouldn't mind DC as I deem them as having a very strong chance of defeating Dodgers, and the Brewers having no chance.
-
The Brewers are such a decimated team at this point that even an awful Rockies team was able to make the Brew Crew their bitches in a series that really mattered. If the Nats don't win tonight, are they the biggest choke-artist franchise in all of baseball history?

Convetsky, how many would Alonso have had if he was juiced ? 70 ?
-
I don't know. He had an OPS above 1.27 from 2001-2004, but only broke 50 HRs once. I bet there were a lot of fly-outs that could have turned into homers with today's baseball. He might not have even needed to square up.
-
What do you folks think Barry Bonds' single-season HR ceiling would have been if he could have combined doping with the juiced baseball? I tend to think, not much different, seems like the juiced ball really helps the guys with middling power a lot more than guys with real power. Guys with real power were hitting HRs whenever they barreled-up a ball anyway. Juiced ball just means it's a 470-ft HR instead of a 410-ft HR for those guys.
-
I'll be paying up w/ Brent in person if he's in town, otherwise I can leave an envelope at the front desk.
-
Did you send Brent a crisp 20 $ ? I mailed my beer to Patrick
-
Although there was a lot of kicking the tires type of discussion, in the end no decision to change away from previous league tradition was made. B&B posted that he'd be okay with that, and he was the one who lodged the original inquiry.
-
We canโt get down to 40 with the rosters locked.
-
They had a 4-yr window and won a championship, plenty to be proud of. Now get real, live in the shadow of the CWS for a few years and come back with a new contending team. Otherwise, deny reality, miss the playoffs again w/o building for the future and see the Reds reach the post-season before the Cubs get back.

This writer pleads for Theo and Jed to be honest with themselves, yet the writer fails to be honest with himself; honesty starts with realizing the window is closed.
