That’s an interesting and depressing comp. Sevy’s injury (this one anyway) seems more straightforward than a blown-apart shoulder. A ucl can be fixed, usually. Though Prior is probably featured in all pitchers’ nightmares.

It is my belief , he has become Mark Pryor , wont ever be worth rostering . I used up slot on him all last year , won't go that route again
-
Then there’s Sevy. Cut at the first opportunity. Is $45 of cap space really that much more valuable than $30?

Sure, we can look at adding those guys to the deal. Nothing happened to Hader today, did it?

Bat , I know you want Cole, but Hader would fit nicely in your bullpen...and...Gore probably wont be up until 2021

Olympics are postponed, but it sounds like Chinese basketball may be starting up again, and if you want to see what baseball looks like in empty stadiums it turns out you can stream KBO intrasquad games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&feature=youtu.be&v=ZGmOBqgAWWE&utm_campaign=newsletter_axiossports&stream=top&app=desktop

I don’t know if you’re trolling me or just ignorant. Crew, sure. Lacrosse? Well, the Ivy League usually has a few good teams, but Harvard is not often among them. Equestrian? No. It’s an in-town campus, no room for horses, it’s at best a club sport without university backing. UGA (and Auburn, but I don’t know if there are any Tigers here) is a much better place for that. And you missed squash. And it might surprise you, but they usually have good hockey teams.

Harvard is tough in rowing, lacrosse and equestrian

Here’s the coach calling him “the most pleasant thing that happened to us all year.” https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1980/12/2/harvard-football-1980-a-truncated-rejuvenation/

Much of my family moved to sw FL and tried to become Bucs fans (except 1 brother who insists on the Dolphins), maybe Tom will make it easier. It’s hard to take Harvard football seriously. One year my roommate, a soccer player who did kick for his Alabama high school football team, got so frustrated watching them early in the season, declared he could do much better than this, and became essentially a mid-season walk-on.

I'm disappointed in the thundercloud emoji. It's kind of faint.
-
I don't know why all these spreadsheet tools don't like my team. I'd like to think that spreadsheets don't understand platooning, but it's probably because my pitching sucks.
-
Bat, given your Ivy League predilections, I hope you're rooting for the Tom Brady Buccaneers now. I read this the other day: "[Long snapper Zach] Triner is one of three returning Bucs players from last year who have strong Boston-area ties. Tight end Cameron Brate went to Harvard, graduating in 2014, though he’s from the Chicago area and grew up a Bears fan. Center Anthony Fabiano, who joined the Bucs’ practice squad last year, is also a Harvard grad..."

I’m actually carrying TWO pitching prospects at the moment!
-
That's a debate for the ages ,I lean towards Jeremy school of thought , but get sucked in by every flowery write up of throws in high 90s

If you believe there is such a thing as a pitching prospect.

There wasnt much impactfull pitching in draft, kluber and carrasco don't do it for me , and Brent loves Grienke. I was left with a dogs breakfast . there is a big wave of #1 and #2 SP ready in about a year, as I eluded to, Kevin has a bunch of those
-
In a perfect world I’d have an entire team of ivy leaguers and guys from Hawaii (Ron Darling is the platonic ideal of a Bat Hombre). I love Hendrix (at $10–that seemed like crazy bidding to me!), and you need guys like that, but they don’t win your league. Pass. You know what it will take.

Would you take High Floor Hendricks ?
-
You’re not gonna be able to make that Cole deal once he has the typical Yankee SP injury before the season starts. You should move now.

I think we all had a good time last night and the subsequent baseball chatter that followed.
-
I wasn't alone in wanting to draft as close to our long announced draft date of last Sunday . You were the overy loquacious advocate for some July date of sorts. I simply copy and pasted the heading when people asked when draft was.
-
Kevin has the stash of minors best pitching, while Bat is stocked on milb bats
-
Yeah, I was dead sure Brew’s insistence on drafting now had to mean he needed to make the obvious Cole plus Belli for Wander Franco deal as soon as possible. But so far, crickets. Also, I talked to NGB today. He’s in self-quarantine after an office mate tested positive. He asked me to let you all know he’s looking forward to an extended reign as league champ after all.

Yeah, he has quite the stash. He's almost the Next-Gen Hombres.
-
Hombres also have the luxury of cashing in the best stash of prospect chips to push Hook/Chuck if he starts well
-
Yes, you do have to do it all manually. It's not that time consuming really, about 10-15 minutes per team. I tend to avoid speculating to much and err on the side of optimal lineups for other teams, rather than really try to project starts and innings for every player.
-
So you entered games played (or IP) estimates for all our teams? I’m the retired guy, and I’m wondering how much I want to do that. I need to remember this when I’m wondering why I’m 2000 points behind. (Some good news though: our Brewers fan assures me Braun will have 1B eligibility, so I don’t have to rely on a Voit miracle or the new math that 80<104.)

Thursday will bad sad , as it was supposed to be opening day. One of the things mlb got right was every team play on opening day .
-
It does not optimize, you need to manually enter playing time. I actually do subscribe to his patreon. $1 a month, cheap!
-
I can see why such a tool would not like my team. DC has Voit playing 104 games, and i don't have anyone else with 1B eligibility. For any of my other guys who miss time (or aren't projected for 150+ games), my replacement for all of them is Jon Berti.

Thank. I think i know the tool you're using, but I've never played with it. Maybe i should throw Vibber a few $$ in appreciation of all the work he does. Does it optimize lineups for each team (i.e., would it know how/where to use Ketel Marte in Hombres's lineup?)? But you said "plug...in" our lineups....hmmm.
BatGPT on
March 23, 2020 2:48 PM

The one I'm using (another Vibber creation from the Slack community) is based on 162 games per position and around a 375/1125 RP/SP split, instead of total value. Plus I am not counting Sale. I think the surplus calculator is giving me credit for a few hundred innings of Sale, Quintana, and Cueto. I have Charles ahead of me by 100 points.
-
Stats, any idea why your model gives such a different result than the surplus calculator (which i thought also used the depth chart projections)? (The calculator thinks you're going to kill us, 10% better than Charles.)
BatGPT on

I think the caps will be set to mimic the season for both starts and innings.
-
And when I plug everyone's lineups into the Depth Chart projections I come up with Charles and I at the top, Hitch in third, then Schmegs, Kevin next, and Taco Corp rounding out the first division.
-
It will be interesting as to how many innings and pa Otto will allow. If they leave unchanged the Cotton balls to the wall charge out of the gate will be best approach.
-
I wouldn't count out the Hombres or the Ninny-Muncins either. That said, if it ends up being an 80 game season, I wouldn't count out anyone.
-
I doubt John will capitulate so early like Charles did vs NGB last season
-
From first looks at things its Charles vs. John , rest of us are competing for 3rd
-
I foolishly built my draft expectations based upon capped league results ( where I get nelson cruz first 13 and abreau for 12)
-
Draft went differently than I expected , felt I was battling Brent and Jeremy all night
-
Unless Niv has updated the way 2-way players are handled, you won’t be able to put him on the P bench, and whenever you want to make him active you have to move him into an empty active spot. I did learn something I should have already known: McKay the hitter is no more. No loss.
