I know there are 5 & 10 fans here (besides me, though I've been to ESS more often). I hope there was more help in the stimulus than Acheson was expecting a couple weeks ago. https://www.atlantamagazine.com/dining-news/chef-hugh-acheson-my-real-worry-is-for-all-the-people-that-i-promised-to-provide-for-and-cant/

As a 20 year old, A-Rod slashed .358/.414/.631 with 36 homers, as a shortstop...in Seattle.

He played his HS ball here in Scottsdale

Wood’s 2005 season was very asthetically pleasing. As a 20-year-old shortstop, he slashed .321/.383/.672 in High-A with 43 homers… as a shortstop!
-
While I’m weighing the market value of Trout around the league, it might be a good time to slide in and grab one of the other lesser guys on my trade block
-
Perhaps an NL fan never saw much of A-Rod. Maybe the 3rd best player of our lifetimes (after Bonds and Trout)? It pains me to say it, but there’s no next A-Rod. Anyway, Brandon Wood led me to this—we seem to be unhappy with BA’s 2006 top 10: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/revisiting-baseball-americas-top-10-prospects-from-2006/

I thought Brandon Wood was going to be next A Rod

I had a Kevin Maas rookie card. He was a future Yankee HOF.

Deleon Young. At least AJ had the grace to bail. Deal on stuck around tempting us for years.

remember Lastings Milledge ?
-
A little surprised to see I never had him. I’m usually a sucker for big, slow 1B-only types for some reason. Anyway, I’m even more pessimistic about a 2020 season than I was before our auction. I try to be hopeful, but....

And right on cue, AJ Reed retires to remind us all that big prospects may be end up being nothing at all

Alright guys, I think after much deliberation, I've changed my mind. Although I just checked the odds and there being a short season is still a heavy favorite (-300) to there being no season, I'm gonna gamble on the latter. At least in this league, and maybe one or two others, where I'm not a favorite. That way I'll have some variety in the old otto portfolio. Anyway, what this means is that I'm now looking to move everything that doesn't have future value for things that do. Hit me up.

Taillon Unlikely To Pitch In 2020 Regardless Of Season Schedule
-
Alex Reyes optioned to AAA
-
Addisson Russell has yet to sign for anyone. Just four years ago he was such a rising star.
-
Exactly. Let the site police it, just be legal.
-
(I've been cutting guys immediately to maintain a legal roster, and otherwise might have held Severino, in the capped league, if I knew having an illegal roster was an option)
-
I vote for requiring legal rosters.
-
It would come down to when the player was injured. If they are still on the 60 day from last season, then it would be OK. If they got injured this spring, then there will not have been an opportunity for them to be placed on the DL.
-
Sorry, not 40-firm, as some guys are already on the 60-day, like Fulmer. I mean just get legal, as per the site.
-
I think 40 firm is the only consistent fair way to handle
-
So then are we allowing teams like Hombres and Munchins to have 41 because the site has Taillon and Fulmer as 60-day, or do they have to go to 40 as well?
-
Looks to me like a lot of votes for staying legal, even if you have 60 day type guys. So lets keep it to 40.
-
Also, since today is opening day, and that’s sad, I really wanna make a trade today. In either league, or in both leagues. Send offers
-
I don’t think staying legal to be able to trade is sufficient incentive, and I don’t like anyone staying illegal cause they have guys that SHOULD be on the 60-day but arent, cause I’ve already cut a player I’d have kept if it was cool to be over 40. I’d like for all owners to have a legal lineup, technically, not theoretically. If anyone stays illegal for a period of time, I’ll just start adding guys.
-
So do we allow 40+ rosters, but if the owner wants to make a trade, they have to cut to 40 or less? Is that the way this would work?
-
This 40 man roster limit is kind of tough. I always err on the side of the ease of commissioner, which would be to stick to the 40 man limit and allowing the site to police it. But this is a long protracted situation unlike any we have dealt with. So it seems reasonable that for OBVIOUS 60-day DL guys, like Sale, Sevy, Hicks, and Thor (sonofa), we ought to allow teams to exceed the limit. As long as we can figure out a way to do it, Im ok with it. But if its a pain, we bail.
-
Regarding the 40+ issue, I think it should be however we do it during the offseason (I don’t actually remember what we do during the offseason). Regardless, I can’t say that I care that much.
-
Was expecting Yu to be top 5 SP this season
-
Well, sort of...
-
Happy opening day everyone!
-
Cubs eould have been @ Milwaukee today . Yu vs. Lindblom
-
I don't mind the 40+ sale personally, and i don't think that it violates the spirit of the rules, but you're right that during the delay it would be easier just to make it a hard 40 for ease of enforcement.
-
Any way to fool the system? So we don’t have to work around those guys, but could still make trades? Because neither choice—cut someone else to be “legal” or don’t make any trades—seems reasonable. Maybe move them to the restricted list, and move them back once they’re officially DLed? (That might not work if you want to trade Sale....)

The spirit of the rule is being observed , zero problem
-
Given the potentially lengthy delay, maybe we should all stay legal so we can trade? Does the inability to trade serve as disincentive enough?
-
Question for the crowd, or the co-commishes: Is it OK to carry more than 40 players until there is a 60-Day DL? For example, I am at 41 players including Chris Sale. I could just have an illegal roster until there is a DL, or I could drop a player. What do you guys think?
-
Last year, if season was shortened , Cotton would be champion. He shot of the gates and didn't look back for over four months
-
Taco - with the season length so up in the air, it's going to be tough for anyone to sell early. The shorter the season, the easier it is to win with a bad team.
-
There are 3 nominations at 5:38...so must be someone with many open slots like Kevin
-
Sound hypothesis, Fred, but twasn't me!
-
I'm hoping opening day is Memorial Day
-
I'm with First Losers
-
Gonna be a month into the season, which I’m guessing is August, before I make any buy/sell decisions
-
So anyone immediately identifying themselves as rebuilding? Who wants some prospects?

I guess now we’ll see if House Buehler has any greater loyalty to their bannermen than House Crew.
