Three outcome king Mark Reynolds retired , not a bad career all things considerd
-
Hey, in case you’re not paying attention to the Capped league, I posted a message over there looking for some trade action.
-
I'm a pass on the strat o matic, but thanks for the offer.
-
Anyone else gonna join the Strat-O-Matic league. It looks pretty cool and I'm really jonesing for some baseball. It's a cool cross between real and fantasy ball. But it's going to take some prep work for the draft. If you're interested please join soon so we can decide if it's going to be a 6 person league or 12 team league with some AI owners and we can set draft positions. It takes a little to figure the site out. Let me know if you need help, it's not bad once you figure it out.

He had one great year with Baltimore , just like Ubaldo had one really great year with rockies.
-
Also, thanks for the Ponson memory. I always liked that guy, but for the life of me I can’t remember why. Those were hard times to be a starting pitcher. He’s only 43, I wonder if he’s off pitching with Bartolommeo somewhere.

Or the long island ducks

Its stupid to waste a roster spot,no.matter what the salary. I have 15 pitchers on my watchlist I'd rather have
-
He will be visiting Dr. Andrews again, and again . hang on and pitch in Mexican league with bartolo colon and Carlos zambrano
-
Is it cherry-picking if it’s his while MLB career?

I can cherry pick great full years from Sydney Ponson and Steve Trachsel but both were pretty much garbage

He is an over rated big name piece of shit ,more hype than substance .

Brew, I’m surprised you don’t remember more of Reyes’s 2016...looks like 3 of his 4 wins came against the Cubs! Though his best start was against the Giants. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=reyesal02&t=p&year=2016

Thanks Mikey, that’s great. Anyone else in that league you think might be interested? We couldn’t seem to provoke much discussion there....

Admittedly, Reyes as shut-down closer is at best a possibility now, but it seems worth a $2 bet and an empty roster spot.

Hey Patrick, Buford wants in on the stat-o-magic league
-
Charles just should have sent him back to NGB. But I don’t understand your comment, this isn’t Appel, he had at least started to live up to his flowery write-ups (unless you don’t think 4-1 with a save in 5 starts, 12 games, 10+ k/9, a 1.57 era, so 1.3 fWAR in 46 IP is flowery enough). Dude has been hurt since then, and maybe never had the control to be an SP...but a shut-down closer doesn’t need SP control.

All I remember is Charles trying to unload him on me as if he had already made it to his flowery write ups
-
That Appel is only 3 years older than Reyes is a surprise. Did Appel ever pitch in the big leagues? I seem to remember Reyes pushing the Cubs around in the 2016 stretch run, but that was a couple season-killing injuries ago. And maybe I forgot that NGB isn’t around to trade Reyes to. Still, if they’ve finally given up on the dream that Reyes is a SP, it’s worth a $2 bet that he turns into one of SL’s best relievers.

kris bryant was taken right after Houston picked Appel

They both made their MiLB debut in 2013, as strange as that sounds.

Alex Reyes lol, the mark appel of the 2020s

I was trying to squeeze as many games into Chase as possible. Starts at 8, 11, 2, 5, and 8 pm. Teams don’t use the clubhouses, they leave the game on their dedicated buses back to their dedicated hotels. Need some time for disinfection, then the next game starts. 5/day is probably too many, and as John suggested there’s probably not much point in playing games when there’s no tv audience.

Yeah, they could allow ties if they’re trying to go B2B games in different locales, but I’d prefer they start every half inning with a bench runner on 2b to help scoring in extras
-
The locals can chip in here, but what I’m seeing says it’s usually still in the 90s at midnight. That’s only cooling off in an absolute sense; still seems too hot to play night games outside.

You could do east coast day games at 8 am local, west coast night games at normal times, and an east coast prime time game of the day at Chase. Not ideal, but maybe better than east coast prime time games at 5 or 6 pm local. Though even those games would cool off by the 5th inning or so.
-
Yeah Brew, no fans at the games in this scenario. Looks like average lows in Phoenix are above 80 in July/August, so it’s probably 98 or so by noon. How many of these parks are there? Try to play 5 games per day at Chase and squeeze in 10 more morning games outside? All games have a 2 or 2.5 hour time limit; if they haven’t finished, whoever is ahead wins, and ties are allowed.

that would be 10:07 central and 11:07 eastern

First pitch: 8:07 AM?
-
i wasnt concerned about heat for the fans, but for the players . There is a reason there is a dome in Phoenix
-
Average high temp in Phoenix in May is 94. I’m not even going to look at the summer temps. I thought it was pretty hot in those fall league parks in November.

I think there’s some of that, but “fewer than half think they’ll be comfortable going to live sporting events by (the end of 2020).” So I think a lot of folks do understand that waiting until it’s okay for fans to attend means there wouldn’t be baseball this year. (Still, many of them expect games to actually resume, even if they don’t think it’s a good idea.)

what is not being accounted for that in late May or even mid may in arizona the extreme heat starts , 100s and full sun
-
Personally, I could get behind a "quarantine the entire MLB to one giant facility in AZ and play the season out" scenario as soon as we get past the test kit shortage.
-
If it's no sports till fans can come to the stadium, then the season would have to be cancelled. The upcoming NFL and CFB seasons too.
-
I can't imagine all of the 70% that want to wait have really processed what that means. There's no way it's going to be OK to have 50,000 people gather in a stadium before we have a vaccine or herd immunity. I think a lot of people still think that in June everything will be back to normal. And sure, more of us might be back to work in June, but we won't be going to ballgames, festivals, etc.
-
That’s how I would have answered too—not because I think games without fans are dumb, but because I don’t think sports are worth exemptions from the rules we all play by, and especially because I don’t want any limited resources diverted to support them. But I’m surprised self-identified sports fans so strongly agree. I imagine non-fans may feel even stronger. If this poll is replicated, will politicians make an exception for games?

I was surprised by this poll: https://bit.ly/2UNReca . “Though fans appear reticent to head to the stadium in the near future, 70 percent of them want sports leagues to wait until the pandemic is contained and it’s safe for fans to attend games before resuming play. Only 16 percent said sports organizations should resume play as soon as possible, even if that means playing in empty buildings.”

Sounds fun, but I don't think that I have the time to dedicate and be competitive (kinda like Ottoneu!) Like the other said, if you can't play without a certain number of owners, I would join, but only if necessary
-
Okay. You got me.
-
I'm in.
-
Okay, if you’ve already created a team, use the “Your Team” drop down, select change your team name, hit save, select “Live Draft” and “100,000,000” then join a league, select our league and enter the pass word. Done
-
There almost must be a way for me to invite you all to join the league, this seems like a very obvious function, but I can’t find it. Probably on me. Typical boomer.

It’s a non-intuitive system where you have to create a team first. (I *think* this has to be a real paid-for team, not your practice team.) As you go through the team set-up, choose the 2019 players option, then choose “live draft”. This should bring you to a page where you can “join an existing league.” Then scroll down to the “private leagues” to find FCA-O-Matic.

Okay, so I got a membership, that was easy. I figured out to go to “community” and “league directory” and found the league, but I can’t figure out how to join it.
-
... $100 million salary cap, progressive drop penalties (cutting a player early in the season has a lower cap hit than cutting him later), live draft. We can set the draft date when we fill the league and Cotton has been repatriated from wherever he is.

okay Mikey, actually having an opinion wins. I've created a SOM league that you all can join. The league name is "FCA-O-Matic". The league password is "NGB?not_yet!" I think you'll have to buy a team (2 for $14.95) to join the league. You should be able to see the league settings, but they're pretty much the defaults: 12 teams random divisions, 2019 player cards, DH Yes, standard waiver process, "advanced" skill (I don't know what it means but it sounds like us, rig
