But sure, if things don’t turn around soon and they don’t think Rendon will stick around, they should get something better than a comp pick for him.

Rendon’s a FA rental, so he wouldn’t get the same kind of haul. And his market isn’t as well developed—in particular, 2 of the best possible trade partners don’t need him. The Braves infield is completely set for a few years (barring injury of course), and the Padres are pretty well set in the IF too, and shouldn’t really be playing for this year anyway (even if they’re pretending to). Both would be happy to get Max though.

Dracarys 2020!'s trade block has been updated!
-
Looking at league standings , and GM actions, on May 23rd, 5000 points seems to be the demarcation line for those rebuilding. Those 5 squads below 5000 , are looking to next year. I believe in a month , 3 other teams will decide to cut bait and run, leaving 4 powerhouses to battle for the throne ! Good to see a race when it appeared NGb was rubber stamped as champ.
-
yes Bat, that works too, rendon seems disgruntled is all. I believe Max will be a top SP until age 38 , however. But I agree with your point. Kieboom , would slot in nicely at 3B though
-
Isn’t trading Max—especially if they eat the deferred money—the Nats real route to a haul? They should do whatever they can to extend Rendon, then retool around him, TT, Soto, Robles, Stras, and Kieboom. I wonder where they could find a usually cheap team (Max only costs about $15 million/year in non-deferred cash) with a ton of pitching and other prospects that really needs an ace? Hmm....

Eaton is locker room cancer, very devisive and disruptive. At least while on white Sox.
-
The Cubs beat the Nats 2 out of 3, one game it was 3 to 2 in the 7th and ended up 14 to 6. The nats are not making the playoffs and should rebuild or retool for 2021. Trade Rendon for a huge haul. The nats are missing something, you can see it , very flat
-
The Nats need more than just Kimbrel...
-
Braves could also sure use Kimbrel... sheesh!!
-
Man, The Nats sure could use Kimbrel. Tonight in a close game the Nats trotted out of their bullpen ERAs (in order) of 6.20, 5.40, 8.27, 9.00, and 4.58!! Result, another 1-run loss given away by that putrid bullpen. How long do the Nats continue to put up with this?

Looking to improve your ppg at 1B or DH? Vogelbach (7.3 ppg) is producing total points at a Hoskins pace, has a higher BB% than Rhys, lower K%, way higher ISO and Slugging Pct., higher BA and a 180 wRC+. He sits against a lot of LH pitching, the only reason he's merely producing total points at a Rhys pace and not a Freddy pace. He's on a $2 contract. Willing to trade or sell for cash. Obviously, I'm not going to cut a 7+ ppg player, so this is not a pre-cut last hope to salvage something.
-
Wind is blowing IN bigtime ,49degrees, pitchers night. However ,will be opposite tomorrow. 80 degrees wind gusting out.
-
Brew, I think he's the AL Schwarber. Of course Schwarber should be the AL Schwarber, but the Cubs have an irrational attachment to him like me with Riley.
-
Beer = Jack Cust
-
Luckily his first name is Seth; if it were Hoppy I think I’d have to put in a bid.
-
I was wondering when someone was going to notice what Beer's been doing. My favorite prospect site had him ranked as a top-50 prospect, thus, why I drafted him in Capped FC. No other sites had him in their top 100. Good thing he's in an AL farm system since he has no position he can play defensively. But the guy can rake.
-
It’s going to be tough not to bid for Beer just on principle!
-
OF eligible (which all 3 currently have) makes Bellinger my favorite, but im biased of course. Ive learned a few things in 3 years , middle relief is plentiful and available... and trying to field 5 healthy OF of 5.0 ppg or more is a bitch , waivers get real thin on OF after 7 or 8 weeks
-
That Bellinger-Hoskins-Judge trading circle from a couple of seasons ago continues to be entertaining and take new turns. They’re all fabulous, and Bellinger sure made the big adjustment he needed to, and Judge’s enormous body remains a perpetual injury concern despite having perhaps the biggest ceiling. Call me crazy but I think I still like Hoskins the best

I'm disgusted

Watching Leghigh Valley Iron Pigs @ Charlotte Knights. My local cable broadcasts 21 Charlotte games.

Britton just threw 10 consecutive sinkers to log a 1-2-3 inning against the Rays. I guess Doolittle isn't my only RP who takes the guesswork out of hitting.
-
The same person nominated crick, bummer, kahnle..so I'll guess charles

This season has been the best auction viewing as entertainment

Jeremy lands Kluber ! I would have bet it would have been John Hook

Abstract Mechanics 💡's trade block has been updated!
-
DC is lacking something, such a collection of individual talent, but playing flat.
-
Fine, I have no problem with having made a dumb move if that's how it turns out after ALL the dust has settled. I'm also okay with knowing it won't be the last dumb move I'll make. One of the things I like about this game is that I'm free to make whatever dumb moves I want, just like you are... as long as we both view it as in the best interests of our teams and that's the only motivation in play.
-
Despite all those misfires, I honestly view you as the top player in the league and the purveyor of wise dogma that I go against at my own great risk.
-
Cause this sure ain’t about me
-
Ok, then just listen to everyone else’s criticism
-
Oh yeah, and how can I forget, chastised me for picking up teenagers, like Soto.
-
Errr....pitching prospect; not picking prospect.
-
Kloobs, Your protestations would have a lot more credibility w/ me if you hadn't told what a stupid ass I was for the trade that netted me Acuna; hadn't accussed me of conspiring for the trade that netted me Bellinger; hadn't assured me there was no such thing as a picking prospect when I traded for Buehler; and hadn't traded me Gleyber for Lucroy and Hader for McMahon.
-
Alex Gordon’s 7 ppg = worthless. Random pitching prospect with 20IP above Rookie-ball = priceless. Literally invaluable. See, Mechanics, what YOU need to learn, which has been “explained” to me, is that there are different methods of player evaluation, and to succeed in this truly outstanding league of killer sharks, you have to embrace not just YOUR particular approach to scoring, but anticipate the complete quackery of all these other geniuses, and land those diamonds ahead of time. Duh.
-
I just got the hot hitting Alex Gordon for a $1. No one trusts the old guys.
-
Up next on the auction block are 2 veteran OFers. Upton has started hitting, and Adam Jones LOVES the desert - he's averaging 6ppg! Not looking for any specific position, just the most future value I can get
-
Gravy, Thanks for that Doolittle clip, very interesting. So I now have restored faith that mlb game day is logging the pitches correctly... even if it is 27 four seamers in a row!!

56.80 out of new brew Chris Bassitt @ detroit ( they stink ) .

-
He threw 95mph in 1980s, so equivalent to 100 today
-
Brew,. Re: Lee Smith, didn't the guy throw gas!! I get it for guys who throw gas. Was just surprised about Doolittle because never thought of him as the kind of flame thrower who could say here comes my fastball and I don't care if you know it's coming.
-
Brew, I've been talking about taking Maria to the Kentucky Derby for her 55th birthday in 2021 (most of her life she's owned horses). Maybe we should drive over and I should throw a bike on the rack!
-
He did pitch yesterday. Today his fb velo was 93.5, max 95.6. Yesterday, 94.9, max 95.7. You might be on to something.

Lee Arthur Smith threw mostly fastballs, and is in HOF. Unhittable in home day games , late in day he would be in sun and hitter in shade, very big advantage.
-
He was consistently hitting 93 mph today, maybe 3 or 4 of the 27 consecutive hit 95 mph. Was his second day in a row on the bump, so maybe his fresh arm velo is better?
-
Left-handed closers. Anyway, Brooks summary of his 2019 FB is interesting: “His fourseam fastball is straight as an arrow, generates a high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has good "rising" action, results in more flyballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers and has well above average velo. ”

Thanks Bat, Doolittle must have a lot of life on that average (below average for closers I'd bet) fastball to be able to get mlb hitters out while essentially mimicking the predictability of a pitching machine.
