Updates: 1) SPH is back, he was out of the country and missed the cut deadline. I welcome everyone's input as to how strict of a penalty should be imposed. 2) I appreciate that everyone is ready for Friday night drafting. I guess it will depend on whether or not we can fill the spot by then. If we haven't filled it by tomorrow then I will have to say we scrap that date and aim for something later on.

Can everyone please participate in the draft poll so we can set a date? this will probably help us to find replacement owner(s). Missing votes from Trade Sheriff, Judge, and Ridiculous (throw me a bone here guys). The only date with universal approval is this Friday. You three can confirm that this date works for you then I am going to set our draft date and only move it if we can't replace the two missing owners in the next 4 days.
Thanks.

Haha- things were starting to get a little weird.

Hopefully the cutting and witty name of the current abandoned team isn't a hindrance to finding a new owner.

Cuts are done. I agree we need a cutoff date to hear from SPH. I say give him til next Friday and then I will abandon his team. Sorry to the level headed people in this league for all of the riff raff
-
Thanks Ridiculo. I agree with Musial. The remaining cuts (Gregorius $8 Davidson $4 Velasquez $10 Loaisiga $10 Hudson $7 Buchholz $6 and Romo $3) get him legal ($18 to spare). I say just cut them now w/o penalty. Let’s all hug it out and get back to baseball.
-
Sorry for causing this huge disturbance in the league, didn’t mean any harm.
-
If his posted cuts (assuming no cap penalties) get him to a legal roster can we just do that and get this over with? None of those cuts seem controversial and there's no real advantage to making those cuts later than others. I get that there is a rule that applies to this situation, and if it's important to follow the letter of law here then let's do it. But we've spent almost a week discussing this and I'd prefer to act and move on - more discussion on this doesn't seem productive.
-
A couple questions - @Coco can you make all of Ridic's posted cuts so we can see where that team stands with regards to being under the cap? Two, is there a deadline where if we don't hear from SPH that we then abandon the team?
-
I would hope my illegitimate son would have done a little better. But keep trying and if u keep working hard I will give u a trophy.
-
One third place finish in five years. Pretty good for a weak mind.
-
As it relates to SPH, I had hoped he would return as well. He's actually probably the reason I joined this league a few years ago bc he had put up the highest points scores across Ottoneu. I thought it would be fun to compete against somebody that good. He's never missed a deadline since I've been here and has always been very active. I think his absence indicates it's very unlikely he returns. With auction dates coming upon us, I think we need to set a deadline soon to open up that spot up.
-
Dont hide behind your little name A-Fraud. Bring it!
-
Personally, I don't think it's necessary to apply a penalty this time, but what's most important to me is to trust that the rules will be adhered to here, with exceptions of course for extraordinary circumstances, going forward before I invest more time into it. Whether that involves establishing a clearly understood penalty or simply acknowledging that the rules matter. There has to be a line drawn somewhere.
-
The cuts weren't listed until Feb 5, so the 37 minutes narrative is a little disingenuous. There's also the context that it's one team that has missed two deadlines. It seems reasonable that might have shaken some trust among some of us, including those that have chosen to be silent, at least publicly here.
-
Too much hostility here. Let's be adults. Both sides have points. Even if we disagree we should be able to be civil and come to an agreeable resolution over something we all agree is not a major violation. It's just a game, but it's also a prize league so that needs to be respected as well.
-
If it takes you an hour to read maybe hooked on Phonics may help. I understand they have one that is focused on integrity.
-
Bud do yourself a favor and the rest of the league a favor and abandoned my team right now and u can go hug a tree.
-
That is Obivious because u have been giving guys such a break why would they need rules. Why look at em when u don't follow them. It is Feb 7 is any of this settled? No. its not 37 mins its seven days and counting.
-
Anyway, thanks for allowing me to spend the 1 hour of nightly free time I have this time of year posting messages about pedantic rule violations in a goddamn fantasy baseball league.
-
Literally one person was 37 minutes late to make a cut. I don’t think anyone here would argue “oh my guy just got traded , I should get to cut him for free “. There is something called gray area, and essentially fucking a guys team over for the season because he missed a deadline by a small amount of time to me and to others in the league seems to be overkill. Also nobody knew about that rule until 4 days ago.
-
Say you had Alfaro and Sanchez and after today's trade u decide the value of these players has declined so u cut them. I don't have that option because I followed the rules and made my cuts on time. How is that even close to being fair to the rest of the league? U want to give these guys a break, fine but lets come up with something we can all live with and follow it. No more Feb 8 and beyond cuts. If u guys want to keep it the way it has been running, I just dont think its for me.
-
You guys want to give Rid a pass and SPH a pass I am fine with it. My point to me leaving the league is I am going to call out a clear rule violation every time. The free pass should be stopped immediately and only under extreme circumstance should the commish have to get involved. Rules are in place they should be followed. Why would anyone want to play in a league without structure? Look at it this way.
-
League back next year as I thought we had a great season.
-
One thing we have typically been is democratic, and it appears that a majority of the league is in favor of no penalty for ridiculous. I’d rather stick to the inclusive ideals that we have stood for in the past, so going to end this discussion now and take the rest of Ridic players off his team penalty free per the will of the majority. I would prefer that this does not cause league abandonment but if you feel so strongly in your belief then just confirm your wish. Would be good to have the

6 years and there is no chance this idiotic debate that is currently going on is going to destroy our league.
-
Ah so it is me being an absentee commissioner that is the problem. Nobody is making up rules (except for Niv who made one up 4 days ago which is now the gospel). Trying to find a balance to appease the hardliners and those of us who realize that there is literally no advantage gained by cutting your players 37 minutes after the deadline. I thought this did. I guess not. Zod, I will not left your trump-style divisive tactics work on this league though, we’ve been going strong for
-
There is a fine line I think that should be found between being understanding with league members when unique circumstances arise, while also maintaining the integrity of league by enforcing the rules that we all agreed to when we signed up.
-
Penalty or not (I'm fine with either), the vast majority of the league has done a great job of obeying the deadlines, which are clearly highlighted in bold at the top/middle of the page. There shouldn't be any surprises and the time afforded to us to meet them is more than ample (months!). Sure, life happens, but generally at least there isn't much excuse for missing these deadlines. As the dialogue over the past week has shown, it's a net negative to the entire league every time it happens.
-
This league has always been lenient on people who mis deadlines for both arbitration and keepers. I don’t see why we should all of a sudden change how the league is run by the comish. The advantage is minimal. I don’t think there should be a penalty.
-
This league has been very flexible when addressing oversight issues. In this case we have two owners who are very active and have been in this league for years. I am for giving SPH and Redic a second chance. I have had several instances in the past being late to draft day and this league has been very supportive. I want to be supportive of the teams that made a small mistake

Coco this is not I am taking my ball and going home it is more of"I am the commissioner who has 4 unread messages in my box for the past few days" vrs I am the commissioner who "my floppy drive went down so I didn't address this issue because I hoped it would go away" thought process that is going to destroy this league in time. My voice is not alone but it is the only one who is posting. Rise up my fellow Peeps! Let the legacy of Zod give u the strength to conquer this le

Texas U are a good man. I enjoy our debates it is just that I think a league should be run with discretion but not with such a lack of enforcement that guys think they can do what ever they want because they know they will get away with it. It is tuff for Fb, Felix and myself to take gutted teams and try to turn them around. Ottoneu is a good platform because the rules are in place. When u start to come up with your own version of what they should be is the part I have an issue with.

Your Idol worship of SPH in this league is disgusting. Vlad and Bichette who would ever come up with those two guys are good prospects? Its like u live in the Amazon Rainforest and were taken to the City of Iquitos and you are like wow big city. Most of us live in NYC. U want to know who knows prospects look at Felix team in a year or two.

Not voted on. Ridiculous cuts the guys he posted - that gets him $7 over the cap. Then he cuts Sale for instance. Now he is under the cap by $18. The someone auctions gregerson. Now he gets a $4 cap release. Then someone auctions sale - now he is $47 under the cap and either he gets sale for $47 or he spends the $47 somehow else. His remaining cap hits free up as the draft goes on. The only
Penalty here is that he likely loses sale and replaces him with slightly less value.
-
If the penalty is to cut an additional player to get legal. Marte would seemingly be an odd choice. Sale, Machado, DeGrom and Bregman are all higher on the salary list. Is this something that's getting voted on?
-
(Those guy’s referring to either marte or machado) I also don’t think this is similar to missing an arbitration deadline because not allocating hurts the rest of the league , not just your team. This can be a reminders in the future to not miss deadlines. Hopefully this is an agreeable solution so neither ridiculous or zod quits the league.
-
The way I am looking at this , if ridiculous cuts all of the guys he posted, plus either marte or machado, then he will have a legal roster. Then, with the first nomination, he can nominate whichever of those guys and pick them back up. The penalty would be the $3 or $4 that they go above his current hold price. To me that is not that big of a penalty but maybe I’m being obtuse.
-
There has to be some middle ground between “guy missed cuts by 37 minutes so therefore he is hit with a $40 penalty “ and “you don’t enforce rules so I quit”. Can we be adults (that are playing a game) about this
-
OK, this isn’t a big enough issue for you to quit the league. It’s a healthy debate.

Last post for me. I think I have such a strong difference of opinion on some issues with members of the league that it would be better for me to leave. I enjoyed playing in the league good luck to everyone. I requested Coco to list my team as abandoned as soon as possible so u may find a replacement.
-
Texas it is not the commissions discretion I have an issue with. I think Coco is a fair commissioner. The cuts he has only impact him for the draft. Once those guys are taken he gets salary relief. In my opinion the circumstances on why he didn't cut his players on time is the issue. At what point does discretion sink to such a low level that anyone can do what they want when they want without any concerns for any type of rules.
-
I was allowed to post my arbitration allocations late last year. I appreciate being in an active league with an understanding commish. I agree, you can gain an advantage by seeing the field before cutting players. But, in Ridic's case, $383 left pre-draft doesn't make a strong case for it. Was he scoping out the best $3 outfielders?? You actually think forcing him to now make $172 in cuts to get to his original position is fair? That is almost certainly a death penalty.

I have never seen a team with so many high value players at low salaries. Its not like Severino, Betts, Synder, etc dont have a higher price value in every league I am in. Never seen a team so stacked and its not like these guys came out of nowhere. I dont mind fighting til arb balances the teams out. My point is he would never have this team if I was in the league since the start. As far as Rid goes never seen such push back in all the leagues I am in for a clear rule violation
