Games played: 60
OF Games played: 300
IP: 560 IP
Min IP: 390 IP

Are we asking teams to stay legal over this period? Things could change fast so I would prefer to see teams making best effort to not be illegal for long

True, Coco. Alas, Smelly P. Hooker never made it above AA.
-
There are a lot of us working with outdated names here, as, by my count, Coco Crisp, Dwyane Wade, Alex Rodriguez, and the Final Boss are all either retired or no longer in MLB, while Felix Hernandez and Brandon Drury should be joining them soon. Shows our league has some longevity!

We've got a name change. Might be time to change mine up, too.

Haha - more German heritage than me. I only live over here temporarily as I am working for a GmbH (not Madrigal Motors though)
-
Exactly, I draft based on potential team names first and actual team needs a distant second :-)

Oh, so that's why you outbid me for him

Does german heritage count?

Sorry, no. I like trying to come up with creative team names and this is a reference to the tv show Breaking Bad.

Edwin Jackson is still a FA, right? I'll pick him up and be fine.

Oof SPH - Another ace bites the dust...

Meaning you can't drop Sale until Saturday morning
-
I just scrolled through 5 years worth of transactions and cannot find one instance of actually using this rule. Admittedly it was probably not that well thought out 5 years ago when initially proposed. This recent thread on slack seems to indicate that there is nothing you can do: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/keeper-deadline-questions/1254/23
The last thing I want right now is Ottoneu drama, so since we never actually used this amendment and there is pushback we can just drop it
-
I seem to remember us allowing the cuts, but was it for drafted players only? I can't remember.

Have we ever actually done it Coco?

Besides, AFraud traded for Sale in December, now he unfortunately gets hurt and he's able to cut him? That's a complete bail out IMO. Just like I shouldn't be bailed out from Severino's contract. We all takes certain risks when signing certain players.
-
Hmm. I agree with SPH on this one. A 60-DL designation seems pretty arbitrary for being able to cut players before the draft.
-
I don't remember this as a rule, I thought you were stuck with them, like I'm stuck with Severino who just had TJ.
-
Are you serious? I mean I'm sure you'd like to cut him but...
-
If you search the message board for “keeper” you’ll see posts from me on this topic from March 2019 and January 2015
-
I’m pretty sure we’ve had a standing rule that if you have someone go on 60 day DL between keeper day and draft day you can cut him for free. So that def applies to sale - FB if you have anyone that qualifies just let me know
-
Haha I’ve got a couple cuts on hold too, but none as big as that one
-
Can I cut Sale? I do not want to keep him and he's on the 60-day, please!!!

Still works for me, though recognizing it’s obviously a difficult time for everyone right now. If there are no objections let’s stick with it, if for whatever reason you can’t make it, we can definitely switch over to a slow draft format
-
Are we still doing 10:30 EDT for the draft?
-
The 27th looking good now.. hope everyone is well and safe!!

Manbearpuig - there is no capacity to retroactively set lineups and the league won’t start scoring points until after the draft is completed
-
So it looks like most are OK with missing two games. So let’s stick with our live draft as planned. I hope the two games don’t matter in the end.
-
Since we are doing the draft the day after the season starts (which is fine by me), would we be able to set our lineups with the players we already have for those two days? For example, will the software allow me to play Contreras in my C spot since he is already on my team prior to the draft, but after the season starts?
-
I've done a few, you need to resist the urge to splurge straight away, and know that you can't make bids where it would go over your cap, you can set a limit when you nominate or bid on someone which is the best feature, silent auction style

It was surprisingly possible to do in the 30 team 2nd year Otto league I play, need 2-3 volunteers to load up the keepers and ad to rosters, I did three teams keepers in about 10 minutes, one handed lol... the software is not... modern... this is doable though

I agree with Coco. I don't think it's a big a deal to draft the day after opening day (3/27) when J&D is available. That'd be my preference.
-
To back up what Coco said, we just completed this slow draft. It was my first one, and it took a little to get used to, but it was super convenient and efficient. You don't feel rushed and you won't miss out on players if you run to get a sandwich and/or beer. It's a nearly ideal solution when a league can't agree on a start time. If we do this we'd have to decide and start it fairly soon, though.
-
I can either do a traditional auction draft on 3/27 or a slow draft.
