What a Ridiculous disaster of a season for old fun bags. If we don't make a dramatic shift before August 7, let the firesale begin. You can start pre-shopping on my team page right now.
-
Check with Niv on whether a glitch has deleted stats the from Monday too, if you could. I don't see that I've been credited for Cespedes' 30 HRs yet, and that's the difference between 9th and 8th place right now.
-
I'd ask Niv if you're concerned about Question 1, but I bet you get points for both. Look for different name listings as to Question 2 - I think Wil Myers initially only showed up if you searched for "William Myers." Also, who the F are those guys?

2 questions: It seems that i obnly collect points for one game on double header days - is that correct? Also, why do some established prospects not show up in a search - such as Christian Walker (bal) and Matt Olson (oak). I can't find them!
-
Speaking of fun, I was enlightened Niv never dabbled with a system for "3 way team deals". Perhaps too much stress for a binary system?
-
It's what makes these leagues fun. I feel we are lucky to have so many people that stay active, if you read the forums it seems people are struggling finding active members.
-
In the end it's all food for thought, the ironic one is that I am reduced to what Fun Bags experienced in 2013. So as a fellow gent of this league, I can cheer him on a bit and those still racing hard.
-
Love the witty correspondence. I'm commenting on the astonishing horse-race we have in our league 2.0. Fun Bags so kindly reminded us of his adaptable strategy of 2013.
-
Stock up your elite defenders and 85% base stealers!!!!
-
"Nascent age of uber pitching on a grand scale?" Sounds like a national geographic special. Do I need to stock up on food and water?

Pray for hot hitting streaks. This year may be different because all signs point to a nascent age of uber pitching on a grand scale. Albeit, history says warm weather induces higher slugging percentage(ped free?).
-
I hear ya. I was in first a week ago, and now it feels like a distant memory.
-
The all-star break couldn't come soon enough for fun bags. How can a team this good be so bad? The only reason I'm not having a fire sale yet is because I still believe we have a run in us- From 8th place to top 3 by mid-September. That's the plan.
-
Or they could just wait a year and half, pay him crazy amounts and have both. The Cubs are scary, they have prospects and will be able to spend when needed.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs flipped Russel in a deal for Price.
-
Hard to imagine Walker getting traded after he's already in the Majors.

I was mistaken, it's 1.5 yrs of Shark, so not a rental. As for Price, maybe the Rays get Taijuan Walker?
-
I'm just glad I'm a White Sox fan so I can root for a team who is playing for this season rather than building for some season down the road...
-
SS is crowded for the Cubs, I wouldn't be surprised to see them to close another trade to bring in some higher-end pitching prospects.
-
Maybe Price costs the same. Samardzija and hammel make less combined than price and Samardzija will cost less next year than price. That probably makes a difference to Oakland.

One of the most fascinating aspects to this deal is what in the hell is TB asking for Price?! And more importantly, what are going to get for him?
-
lol sorry for multiple posts - keeps popping up on refresh:(

How bout the Cubs farm system now? The best in baseball and not even close IMO. Epstein is killing it.

All valid points, but Shark is def no Miggy and he's just a rental (doubt they have the budget to lock him up). Russell is a big overpay for that IMO.
-
That was a 100% serious comment, too. No joking at all. Effin' A, we all read Fangraphs. Let's also assume that we're all capable of thinking with a shred of logic.

Wow awesome multiple posts, Cubs as screw ups is a stereotype of the pre Theo era. Not saying he isn't capable of making mistakes, but instantly assuming the Cubs are screw ups due to their past is ignorant.
-
A top 5 prospect SS is an excellent haul for a player they weren't resigning and clearly weren't getting the arm they wanted for.

Let's say that was a great haul and then also assume the Cubs will screw it up until they prove that they're capable of not screwing things up.

Miller and Maybin were decent prospects, but OF prospects are a dime a dozen and truly there are rarely sure thing prospect pitchers. Miami and CHC were in same position, not paying current star and looking to get anything for them.
-
The prospects are impressive, but remember the Tigers traded two top 10 guys for Miguel and we definitely won that trade.

Samardzija not landing in the AL East, but in the AL West particularly Oakland. That's going to sting.
-
I find your Gerrit Cole story fascinating.
-
I have now traded for Gerrit Cole twice, and traded away Gerrit Cole twice. Hope this works out better than the Matt Kemp deal last year.
-
RiDickeylous's trade block has been updated!
-
Late to the party, but Plumbers side with those who feel it's against the spirit of an advanced league but acknowledge that there's nothing in the rules that say you can't.
-
Absurd. I was hoping for a crazier reaction. "JL asked for Xander in exchange for Bud. BC laughed hysterically and hung up"
-
Glad we hashed that out. Can we please now discuss how the Astros asked for Xander bogaerts for Bud Norris and offered jarred cosart and delino deshields for Giancarlo?

This is going to be fun...look at all those auctions.
-
Thanks for letting us know Niv's response
-
These double posts...good grief. Anyway, Niv responded and said it was intended. I don't have to agree with it but it's a part of this fantasy game so I'll have to deal with. Basically what I'm saying is, Let's start those damn auctions!
-
I feel jaded because it's against the spirit of this game. Is it against the rules? No, but neither was steroid use. Relax, I'm not saying they are equal transgressions.

That might get complicated, though, as what do you do if you drop a player, pick him back up at half his salary, and then trade him? Can the new team drop him and take a 50% salary hit, or does it remain the same?
-
I agree the way to address is to email Niv and see (a) if it is intentional, and (b) if he will change it for next year so that the cap hit remains the same all season long
-
sorry for multiple posts

Seems like you feel jaded just because you didn't know and others did. I don't see a problem with rules allowing this. It will take me 3 months, half a season to get Colabello's salary down to $1 from $5. To me that feels like a pretty good punishment.
