I don't even understand why there's an issue?

FB asked for more than we agreed on. We prob exchanged a dozen offers (or more) before we got there. And I was
motivated to get it
done quickly so I could get as many games out of my new players as possible

Cause at this point, there are only 3 teams left. If I had rejected, then yeah no big deal.
-
Yeah I didn't reject, I sent a private msg stating I need some time. Probably could of worked something else outside of Judge (I need, with Harper on DL).
-
I see. So the issue for you is FB's asking price for you was super high and then took what you consider a very light package from YJ, without an opportunity to find something in value less than Judge, but more than the accepted package?
-
Look I'm taking it uber personally. I have no choice. I'm not Buddha.
-
No FB offered those players for just Judge.
-
Could somebody help fill in the blanks for me? BOPS, are you saying you offered Judge for that group of players and were turned down in favor of the accepted package?
-
Also there were 6 teams at one point vying for contention. Telling me you couldn't pull a single deal? Instead, you take a bigger loss and boost someone else. I fail to see your logic FB.
-
Either way I didn't reject FB because you essentially held my team hostage. I just lost Harper. Let's just say if that deal goes through, then yeah...it says a lot about our league. Cheers, it's been real.
-
Yeah, I would have liked to get more, but the bottom line is, I've been trying to get more for 2 months and none of the contending teams are willing to pay for these players. I can't finish the season with no return on them. I got 5 keepers for 1 keeper. Had to do it. Still have longoria, cueto, and Teheran to unload.

Benintending to get 🐟 some help's trade block has been updated!

If only I were trading for the 2015 versions of Davis and Arrieta...Anyway, couldn't let you end my death grip on odd years without a fight, Blach Ops. Here we go!

Thanks for ruining all the hardwork I put into rebuilding since then.

Geez FB, ok I can't take that again, 2013...history is repeating itself. Pretty much the same offer for Judge and you pull this...

Damn, you got me YJ. I couldn't tell because in NY it's Miami Vice.

I am strongly in favor of all vices. Except Manny and Papi's steroids. A-Rod and Pettitte's steroids were good, though.

Speaking of league #s, can't wait to join the advent of League #420!
-
hmmm highest hanging fruit is out of our reach, let's continue our top ten streak. I say that because each year I see our league # among the other revolving door of league #'s.

Strong work all. Just A Bit Outside is up to #13 overall in league rankings!
-
Haha. A man of principle. Respect. If it's any consolation, Nomah is a post-game Dodger's analyst. Jeter certainly gets the edge there.
-
Also, they must kill marlins man and allow Ichiro to play until he's 60. Those are my conditions: 1) No more stupid sculpture; 2) kill marlins man; 3) Ichiro plays forever.

Jeter is a Marlin. That's weird. YJ you promised the league a new team name in this event. I can see it now, "Yeah Didi!" =p
-
I'm going to have to disown this team name now. Unless he tears down that stupid ass fish whirligig in center field. Then, he's good again.

Speak of the devil. Loria sold the Marlins to Sherman-Jeter Group. Jeter "only" puts in $25 million. Elite athletic performers with big egos tend to have the opposite results in executive leadership. Unless your name is Jerry West of the NBA.
-
Yeah what Team Trout said. That's the "price". Not worth it. Overall, an implicit standard is in place. Let's call it Jeet's rule. All hail league JABO!
-
I think that removing an owner who has paid in season is a slippery slope unless they ask out
-
Not to punt, but I don't have strong feelings either way. I do see where Jeets is coming from though. There's no guarantee that if the team gets abandoned someone will pick it up before the deadline, so maybe it couldn't hurt to put it out there? I guess if forced to choose, I would probably support seeing if we can find a new owner.
-
I have obviously weighed in, so I guess I'm 1. I feel like if I were someone claiming a team, I'd like to have both the trade deadline and the offseason at my disposal. That said, I will happily abide by the will of the league, either way.

Nada. As mentioned before, I tend to agree with WAR that without a response from NovaCain saying he doesn't care about his team anymore, I'd wait until after the season before making a change. I see both sides of the debate though. If there are 6 or more managers here who think NovaCain's team should be replaced with a new manager before the end of the season, I'd side with the will of the league.
-
So...looks like two weeks have passed. I assume no response from NovaCain?

I see where the story is leading to...Jeter's Gift Basket proposition failed to close the deal.
-
I just want to imagine the conversation going like: "Hey, I wanna buy a baseball team, would you put in a billion dollars?" "Oh, I always wanted to own a team and get to work with a front office" "well, no, I would get to make all the decisions and run the team" "I put in a billion dollars but you get to do all the fun stuff?" "What if I give you really nice box seats for home games?"

Speaking of, I don't think I've mentioned how it's probably my favorite Jeets thing ever that he never got any billionaires to fund his bid for the marlins because he wanted all the control without putting in any money. Very Jeter-ian move

I didn't want to resort to this, but it's time to bust out the whip! Each lash I vocalize: "Jeets is to blame", "Blame it on Jeets", and etc.
-
BOPS and YJ going toe-to-toe both in the standings and in debate. I think we have the makings of a nascent rivalry. Boston bias here - Yankees suck! (even though their bullpen is tight and having Aaron Judge in pinstripes is like seeing those giants now marching among the white walkers. i mean, how much dragon glass is it gonna f'n take to take those clowns down?)
-
Furthermore, the Yankee starting pitchers expend less stamina and can pitch on 3 day short rest if things don't go according to plan. It's a great hypothesis for mediocre SP, elite and deep relief corps, long ball offense and etc.
-
If the Yankees only allow 3 IP from their starters in the series, then they would be taking advantage of their bullpen strength, rather than falling into the pitfalls of their weakness. Typical reactive use of the bullpen. A pro-active bullpen changes the short game.
-
Anything can happen once you're in the playoffs. I think the Yankees will be using their bullpen more innings than their starters in the playoffs. And that is one elite bullpen.

In a short series vs a top tier team with top tier pitching, the Yankees are at a disadvantage. Playoffs vs regular season are two different debates.
-
Yankees bias here. Not sure how in the world you could conclude the yankeees are not contenders. And I don't even like sonny gray.

Yankees are still pretenders, Houston bias here. Dodgers, Darvish is an earth shaking move. NL is still stronger in a tooth and nail struggle manner.
-
My b - I see that BOI already sent a message. BTW - re the possibility of fairness to Blach Ops, I'm open to a discussion on that front, but I think it would be a neutral effect on the contenders. Assuming a new person were to come in and said new person indeed attempted to start a rebuild before the deadline, Blach Ops and everyone else would have an equal opportunity to trade with him/her. I would think the bigger effect would be on the other sellers since it would add supply to the market

Yeah, I'm not sure I would be up for an anonymous vote off. I would think if someone has engaged in behavior that could warrant being voted out, it could be discussed openly, as we are doing here. So are we in agreement that BOI (as commish) should shoot an email to Nova? Then maybe he can check in with the league in a couple of weeks if he hasn't heard anything and we can figure out how to proceed?
